Eleni's Pov
In my sleep walking state I had bumped into someone and the bottles of wine had fallen off the tray and shattered all over the floor. My eyes widened in horror. Where the hell am I going to get the money to pay for this? I am so dead! I thought. I looked up to see who I’d run into and my breath froze. The midnight black pair of eyes that stared at me were deep and mysterious, so deep it was as if they were looking into my brain and reading my thoughts. And I was beginning to have wild thoughts as I stared at the dark, handsome stranger in front of me. He was nearly a foot taller than me, and drop dead handsome! His complexion was swarthy, his mustache and beard were as dark as his hair, his strong chiseled jaw was clenched as he stared at me. Wow! I was so captivated by him that I didn’t notice all the people in the bar were staring at us until Glykos yelled. “What the hell! That is my drink you careless bitch!” Handsome, that was the name that quickly came to me, and I turned to look at him. He jumped up from his chair and headed towards me, eyes blazing angrily. I flinched as he came nearer, certain he was going to hit me but Handsome stepped between us. “Don’t!” He said. His voice was low, deep, and commanding. Glykos stopped suddenly, his eyes widened in surprise and fear. So did the eyes of everyone else within hearing. Most of them feared Glykos, yet Glykos was clearly afraid of this man. “Don’t even think about it! Go back to your seat. Now!” Handsome continued. “But that is my drink. I’ve paid for it and I demand to have it!” Glykos whined. I could see the fear in his eyes and I couldn’t blame him. I was afraid too. Despite Handsome's good looks, his whole persona screamed: I am ruthless and dangerous so do not cross me. “What is going on here?” The head waiter asked walking up to us. He looked confused as he surveyed the mess. Glykos started to say something but Handsome cut him off. “Nothing. Just a little accident. My fault. Get them another drink. Bills on me.” He told the head waiter sharply, then turned to Glykos. "Another drink is on the way, now get back!" Glykos looked defeated as he shuffled back to his seat. The headwaiter asked me to clean up the mess but Handsome interrupted. “Get someone else to do it. I want her at my table.” He said and walked towards the table hidden in a corner. With a pounding heart I followed him. I waited till he had settled at a table then spoke, “Thank you for that.” I said awkwardly. “I could have gotten into a lot of trouble if you hadn’t spoken up for me. And sorry for bumping into you.” He looked up and down with his cold dark eyes. It was as if he could see through my skimpy clothes, and I felt myself begin to change color with embarrassment. “Get me a bottle of red wine.” He said dismissively. I nodded and hurried away, burning red. By the time I came back with the wine his face was buried in his phone and he didn't look at me. I went back to serving other customers, occasionally glancing at Handsome. But he didn’t even notice me. His eyes were either fixed on his phone or the front door, and I got the impression he was waiting for someone. A woman maybe? I thought and was surprised how suddenly jealous I felt. Stop being stupid Leni! I told myself. A man like this has no use for someone like you. But it didn’t hurt to dream. Nearby an hour later everything had slowed down a little, so I stood in a corner admiring Handsome. I smiled as I had an imaginary conversation with him. Then my smile froze as the door opened and Alexios Makris walked in followed by his bodyguard. He was the last person I wanted to see. Some of the customer looked up at him, then looked away without interest. People didn’t fear or respect him as much as his brother and it annoyed him. He stood looking round the room then his gaze fell on Handsome. I saw his eyes narrow, then he walked to the bar. “Where is Leni” He asked Rich. “Tell her to bring my usual drink to my office.” He ordered and walked to the back where his office was. I winced. He always preferred me to serve him and I hated being anywhere near him. I preferred to deal with Christos. But I had no choice. I rushed over to Rich. “Alexios said-“ He began. “I heard.” I said wearily. I collected the drink and went to his office. As I approched his office door I could hear him talking to someone inside. I guessed it was one of his goons. Good, as least I won’t be alone with the creep, I thought. As I was about to knock I heard him say, “- Yeah you heard me. The dark haired guy sitting in the corner? Make sure he doesn’t leave here alive!”Eleni stared at the gun open mouthed. Once again a weapon was in her face. That seemed to be a common occurrence ever since she had met the Romano’s. “You are coming with me!” The man snapped. Panicking her eyes quickly scanned the room, looking for a weapon she could use to defend herself, but there wasn’t anything. “Now!” He snapped. “Please let me go. I will leave town and not come back.” She said frantically. “Move!” He barked shoving her towards the back door. The cold air hit her as she stepped outside, and she shivered from the cold and fear. She didn’t know where the man was taking her, but guessed wherever it was Mia would be waiting. She looked at the guard house, there was no sign of the guards. Where were they now she needed them? As they walked further away from the house she looked round hoping to find a weapon. Her eyes caught a large log of wood on the ground. “Who are you working for?” She asked trying to distract him. “Be quiet and move!” She stumbl
Leonardo’s heart nearly stopped. The footsteps were getting closer. Was it a maid? Guard? Or had Niccolo come home unexpectedly? Whoever it was they couldn’t find him here. But the information he needed was almost up, of he shut it down he won't lose everything. He made a decision. He shut the laptop and looked round for a place to hide. Behind the bookcase at the end of the room was perfect. He slid behind it just as the door opened. He heard the person come in, walk around then stop. From his position he couldn’t see who it was, and didn't dare peek. The sounds stopped. Everything was quiet for a long time, then the footsteps sounded again and he heard the door opened and close. He let out a sigh of relief as he came out his hiding place. He needed to hurry up and get the hell out of this place. He walked to the computer and stopped suddenly. It was open and the browsing history had been wiped out. Fuck! * Eleni’s again looked out of the cabin windows. No sign of any guard. Sh
Helena wasn’t surprised to see Julia at her house the next afternoon, but she was surprised by how angry she looked. “Helena what have you done?” Julia demanded.. “I was helping you solve our problem,.” Helena said calmly. “I had already solved it! The girl was leaving with the money I gave her. Then you had to ruin everything.” “I’m sorry. It was the fools I sent. They messed up.” “What was the point of having her kidnapped?” Julia demanded. “To make sure she was gone for good.” “Well she isn’t! And now Niccolo knows what you’ve done. He is angrier than ever with Mia. You have ruined everything.” “And I will fix it. We will try again.” “How? I don’t even know where she is.” “What do you mean? I thought you said she didn’t leave.” “She didn’t. Niccolo rescued her, now he is hiding her somewhere and I don’t know where.” “Then find her. Or make Nick forget her.” “I am trying.” “Try harder! Nick must get back with Mia, and soon!” “He would never have broken
Julia paced the living room anxiously, occasionally glancing at the wall clock. Alora and Jane had been gone for nearly two hours and she didn’t know if Jane had managed to escape or not. She had tried calling Alora to indirectly find out what was going on, but she wasn’t picking up. Jane must have escaped, she told herself. She has enough money and Alora is careless so it would be easy for her to slip away, especially since no guards are with them. But what if she hasn't? How would she explain it to Helena? Then she heard Alora's car pull into the driveway, and held her breadth as Alora rushed into the living room. “Aunt Julia you are here? Where is Nick?” She asked breathlessly. “At work of course. What is it?” “No he isn’t there. I’m just coming from his office. I need to know where he is!” “Calm down, what is it that’s so important?” “Jane is missing! I think she has been kidnapped! We have to find her.” Julia let out a quiet sigh of relief. So the stupid girl d
“Please let me go!I didn’t escape I’m with Alora!” I tried to explain. “Shut up!” One growled. I stopped struggling. I knew Nick must have told them to take me back to the mansion. The jerk couldn’t even wait for me to come back, he had to kidnap me. I thought furiously. Then one of men said, “Call miss Conti. Tell her we have the girl and are on our way.” Eleni froze. Mia! Mia was the one who had kidnapped her? This wasn’t good. She began to struggle desperately. “Stay still!” The man yelled holding her tightly. She began wishing she had listened to Nick and stayed at home, but how was she to know Mia would go this far. Then she heard a load bang that shook the whole car. It skidded off the road and crashed on to the sidewalk. She moaned softly. Now what? She thought as the door opened and she was pulled out. She saw another car had run into theirs and badly damaged it. Niccolo got out of the car and ran towards her, while his men pulled her kidnappers from the wrecke
Eleni's Pov Don’t bother getting up.” Julia snapped sitting beside me. “I didn’t know you were around.” I stammered nervously, guessing she was here for trouble. Julia looked at me coldly. “Everything was going well in this house until you came here. Niccolo and Mia were in love and ready to get married, now he hates her and it’s all your fault!" “I’m sorry I never meant to cause trouble. I just came here to get a job. I never wanted any of this, it was all Nick’s idea.” “That’s a lie!” “It’s true. I swear. I would have left long ago but he won’t let me.” “You expect me to believe Nick is keeping you here?” She asked scornfully. “He is. Honestly-“ “Prove it then.” I looked confused. “How?” I asked, wondering what drama I was about to be dragged into now. Julia pulled out an envelope from her pocket and threw it at me “This is a check for a million dollars. If you really want to leave then take it. Leave town and leave my family alone.” “The guard won’t let me-“
