Madeline’s P.O.V.

 

 

“This is outrageous.” My father roared after I explained what happened in the alpha’s meet. My parents already had gotten the news, but they waited for me to come back and tell them everything.

“Calm down, Dad. Do you think that I am someone who let a tr*amp like Nickel bully me?” I asked him while snuggling into my mother’s embrace.

I rolled my eyes when my father’s expression changed from a furious one to a deflated balloon in just one second.

“Yeah.. that’s right. How can it be possible that the biggest bully of our pack is bullied by a mere royal beta.” he commented, and I blinked dumbly.

“Mom.” I whined aloud while thrashing my body in my mother’s embrace.

“Albert.” Mom called him in a warning tone, making him look at us with a pitiful gaze.

I laughed while enjoying his situation. Who would believe that the ruthless beta of the Dark Moon Pack behaves like a love-sick puppy in front of his mate?

Mom held me tightly while grunting and giving him a threatening look. This is the magic of mate bond, and years of cultivation of their love.

My parents were childhood sweethearts and turned out to be mates when the age came.

So, it can be said that their hearts were always with each other.

I also wished for this kind of bonding with someone, but after what happened at the royal banquet….

“You don’t worry, Maddie. Let’s say that the Moon Goddess was testing you by this rejection. I am sure that she has something good for you in her heart, but she wanted to test you before blessing you.” Mom comforted me once again in a very gentle voice.

“Mom. I don’t have any complaints about what I have in my life. So what if I can’t have a mate? I have a loving family, a protective pack with so many people who can do anything to make me happy. I am content with what I have.” I replied to her, assuring her that this incident didn’t bother me that much.

“My daughter is not a fragile doll, Rita. She is our daughter, a Summer. She doesn’t need a loser like Nickel in her life. It’s good that she immediately rejected him, or else I fear that she would have protected his sorry as* for the rest of her life.” Dad said it with such a righteous attitude that it made me laugh once again.

“Okay, enough with this pity party. This ends here. There is no need to mention this incident ever again. It only makes me tempted to murder that pr*ck. Adolphus and Nathan are about to come back by next Friday. Let’s focus on their welcome party.” Mom said to both of us, and I immediately bobbed my head in agreement.

“That’s right. Lucifer and Hailley are also thinking about announcing Madeline as co-beta during the party. It will be a double celebration for us.” Dad told us and I immediately perked up.

“Really?” I asked him in excitement.

He smiled dotingly. “Yes, my love. When did I lie to you?”

“Yes!” I did a happy dance while holding my mother.

She laughed at me and mimicked my body movements.

“It’s time for your training now, Maddie. You have already missed two sessions.” Dad said to me in a calm but stern voice.

“O cut the crap, Albert. You always keep her busy with training. She is a young girl, and young girls are meant to be pampered, not to be trained harshly.” Mom scolded him, only to make me feel warm in my chest.

“Mom… it’s okay.” I comforted her, but she shook her head furiously.

“No, you are not going for the training today. We are going shopping and will have spa and beauty treatments after that. I have called Hailley, and she will be here in a few minutes. Elisa and Bianca are already on their way here.” Mom announced, and my heart sank.

“Beauty treatment?” I screamed inside my heart while looking at my father pleadingly.

“B.. but you are already this beautiful, my love. You don’t need any beauty treatment.” Dad interjected, stammering a little.

I also bobbed my head furiously, supporting my father’s words.

“What will I do if someone starts pursuing you if you look more beautiful?” He pouted, which only made me want to gag, but I held it inside.

“This cute act doesn’t suit you, Dad.” I screamed at him in my heart, but to escape this beauty treatment, I was ready to endure this.

“It’s your headache, not mine, Albert. We are going, and this is final.” Mom was now getting angry, and this would not end good for Dad.

“No need to be angry, Mom. You are right. We women need to take care of our beauty and health. Let’s go. The others will be here soon.” I ushered her while standing up.

She grunted while glaring at my father.

“Stay here. I am going to change.” She instructed me and stood up.

“Okay, Mom.” I replied with a wide grin, my heart beating furiously in my chest.

My mother wasn’t just a beta-female. She always detected our fake flattery. That’s why, it was hard to coax her, even for my father.

I watched her walking towards the staircase and slumped like a deflated balloon when she went upstairs to her room.

“I am sorry, kiddo. I tried my best.” Dad said to me with a sympathetic look while standing up too.

“Best? You were about to create trouble for yourself.” I scoffed aloud while glaring at him.

“O yeah… thanks for that,” he remarked flatly, and now I fumed.

“Anyways. Best of luck with your beauty treatment, kiddo. Just take care of my mate and don’t let any wolf come close to her.” He instructed me while walking towards the door.

I sighed and threw myself on the couch again.

Beauty treatment….

I shuddered hard while thinking about those waxing strips once again tormenting me. A punch during a spar doesn’t hurt that much as those strips do.

I raised my hands and legs high in the air, and felt pity for them.

And my eyebrows…..

I felt tears in my eyes…

No…

Tears of fear, actually….

How am I supposed to escape this torture?

I sat up when I heard Luna Hailley, calling for me and my mother.

“Coming, Luna Hailley.” I yelled while standing up, and looked towards the stairs.

“Wow! Mom… it’s good that Dad went out already.” I exclaimed in awe when I saw my mother descending the stairs gracefully.

She had worn a bodycon peach-colored sleeveless dress that ended in the middle of her thighs.

She was only 40 years old, and with all the care of her health and body, she looked like a woman in her early thirties. No one outside says that she is my mother. She looks like my elder sister.

She smiled gracefully while coming towards me.

“You should have changed too, Maddie. You look more like a boy instead of looking like a girl,” she scolded me dotingly and pressed her finger on my forehead annoyingly.

I grinned widely while making a weird noise. “Let’s go, Mom. They are already outside.” I urged her before she could send me to change clothes. I was in blue faded jeans and an oversized t-shirt, which was actually my brother’s.

“Let’s go.” I urged once again and almost dragged her towards the door.

Well, Mom looks good in women's clothes, but please spare me.

“Maddie.” Bianca, the gamma’s second daughter, three years younger than me, screamed excitedly while running towards me.

I laughed and raised my hands towards her while spreading my hands to catch her.

She jumped on me, and I swiftly caught her, swiping her high in the air.

“Hahahahahahhahaha.” she laughed while raising her hands high, completely trusting me with her safety when she was almost my height.

I heard the rest of the ladies muttering something about us being reckless, but who cares when you are enjoying your moment with your favorite people?

“Hey, Maddie. Adolphus wants to talk to you?” Both I and Bianca stopped laughing when we heard Luna Hailley.

I slowly put Bianca down and looked at Luna Hailley. She had her phone raised towards me.

“Adolphus?” I asked her, excitement filling my voice now.
