Mag-log inLuna Hailley’s P.O.V.
“What are you doing? Adolphus doesn’t like lilies. Why did you use lilies in decoration?” I yelled at the omega who had flowers for decoration in her hands. She flinched harder, almost screamed in fear, but her head was still lowered. “Hailley. What are you doing?” I huffed and glared at Lucifer when he yelled at me from behind. “Did you forget it’s Maddie who is supervising decorations?” He asked me, and I narrowed my eyes, still glaring at him. He stopped in front of me and looked at the omega first. “You go and do your work. Tell Maddie to talk to Luna.” He instructed her, and I grumbled. “Now why are you asking Maddie to talk to me?” He smiled while taking me into his embrace before answering me. “So that you can scold her for bringing something that your precious son doesn’t like.” “So what if she added lilies? She loves lilies, and a few lilies aren’t going to give him an allergic reaction.” I was still grumbling, but in my heart, I felt guilty. “Ha… so… because your Maddie likes lilies, you let them use it?” he asked me teasingly, and I immediately jabbed my elbow to his lower ribs. “Ouch… why did you hit me?” He grumbled while wincing in pain. “Stop faking it, and what’s wrong with Maddie using her favorite flowers?” I didn’t give him any chance to stretch this argument as I immediately pulled myself away from his embrace. “Did you check the setting arrangements, and did you have enough guards assigned to take care of the teenagers and youngsters tonight?” I asked him while walking towards the kitchen. “Everything has been done according to your instruction, baby. Don’t you trust me?” I asked me and I rolled my eyes. My wolf, Marie, snickered at the back of my head, but I didn’t let her make this known to Lucifer. Although Lucifer was a powerful and ruthless alpha, he had a very fragile heart that breaks on very superficial things sometimes. “But only because of us,” Marie remarked with a giggle. I smirked while glancing at him from my peripheral vision. As I thought, he had a hurtful expression on his face, but I didn’t pay attention to him. This was his usual tactic to get my attention. “Ruth…. is the final preparation done?” I asked the head of the kitchen, as soon as I reached the kitchen door. “Yes, Luna. Beta Maddie has already finalized the final menu this morning. We are preparing everything according to that, and we are almost done with the feast.” Ruth informed, and I nodded with the satisfaction. “You are really lucky that you have Maddie to share half of your burden.” Lucifer teased me, and I smiled widely. “You go ahead and finish everything. Adolphus will be here at any time.” I instructed Ruth before moving towards Lucifer. “Of course, I am. The Moon Goddess didn’t give me her as my daughter, but it was my luck that I still have her.” I replied proudly, thinking about my lovely and beautiful girl. “Let’s go. They are only ten minutes away from the border.” He told me calmly, but I could feel his excitement hidden in his voice. I was so excited that I almost felt dizzy, but Lucifer held me tightly in his embrace. “Calm down, my love. Our son has come back.” he comforted me in a gentle tone. “I… I know, Lucifer. It has been ages since I saw him last. He is our only pup, and yet you sent him away as if you don’t love him.” I complained in a cracked voice while walking towards the living room of the pack house. “That was necessary, Hailly, and you know that. We both know what is at stake, and he must be powerful enough to win that battle.” He replied with the same thing that I already knew, but I was a mother before a Luna. “How I wish that the Moon Goddess would make Adolphus Maddie’s second chance mate, Lucifer. This is her home and she should be here all her life. I… I … you don’t know how anxious and devastated I was when Maddie told me that she found her mate that.” I paused and felt a pang of pain in my chest while thinking about my wicked wish, and to my horror, that came true too. I was happy and heartbroken at the same time. Happy because that b**tard rejected her. Heartbroken because it also caused pain to Maddie. We stopped outside the border when I saw our beta couple coming to us. “The car is ready.” Albert informed us excitedly. Their son, Nathan, was also coming back today, and this made a double celebration in our pack tonight. I ran to Rita, and we both screamed excitedly while holding each other’s hands tightly. “Where is Maddie?” I asked when I didn’t see her while walking to the car. “She is at the party site. A few teenagers started a brawl,” Rita told me hurriedly. It’s not like she wasn’t worried about Maddie in her excitement to see her son like me. Maddie is about to share the beta position with Nathan, and it proves how capable she is. I and Rita hopped into the back seat of the car while Lucifer took the passenger seat and Albert was in the driver’s seat. I could feel how anxious she was. She was rubbing her palms continuously while looking outside the window. “You will meet him soon, Ruby. Just a few more minutes.” I comforted her in a cracked voice; tears were also filling my eyes. “I… I know, Hailley, but I am anxious. How would they react when they learn about what happened to Maddie in the alpha’s meet. The king assured us that he wouldn’t let the news get out of the royal pack, but they are so protective towards Maddie th… that.” She didn’t need to finish the sentence because I know my son and Nathan just like her.“What happened?” Cassius asked anxiously while holding Adolphus from falling.“Aurora. She is trying hard not to shift while Madeline is provoked to shift.” Adolphus told him, trying hard to suppress the pain and that burning sensation in every vein of his body.Suddenly an angry growl filled with rage and pain shook the whole area.Cassius looked around in panic and shock, but Adolphus knew who this wolf was.“We need to reach her as soon as possible. She can’t show her wolf.” He muttered and started running again, stumbling badly, but he couldn’t stop.Cassius snarled but held Adolphus tightly and started running swiftly.Adolphus didn’t hesitate to take his support and tried hard to run at his pace.“Help Aurora, Onyx. Don’t let her shift at any cost.” Adolphus instructed Onyx. “I am trying hard, pup, but they injected something strong and unknown to me. They are forcing her to shift against her will.” Onyx told him while snarling in anger, trying hard to help his mate, but somethi
No One’s P.O.V.Adolphus howled in pain before falling to the ground on his knees. “Adolphus.” Cassius shrieked in panic but pulled him up, saving his fall.“Ma… Maddie. She is in pain.” Adolphus groaned in pain while trying to breathe.“Onyx. Try to reach Aurora.” I commanded Onyx, who was also groaning in pain.“Come on. Let’s get going. I have trained you better than this.” Cassius urged grimly, dragging Adolphus with him. He had no intention of stopping again.Adolphus felt as if his chest would explode at any time. The pain was so intense that he felt like dying. He regretted not coming back for Madeline earlier.“Aurora said not to panic and endure the pain for a little longer.” Onyx told it to Adolphus while groaning in pain too. Adolphus was confused but it lessened his worry a little. He tried to breathe, but it only made his condition worse. “Hold your breath for now, Adolphus.” Cassius commanded him coldly.Adolphus sighed and closed his eyes, stopping for a few seconds and
Adolphus’s P.O.V.“This is outrageous. I know that those old hags lost their rationality long ago, but guilt-tripping her for giving up on a sc*mbag????” Oscar, one of us, yelled angrily as soon as Madeline left the meeting room.“See what you did, Nickel. You were asked to stay quiet and tried to make amends with her, not to provoke her.” Conrad roared aloud, making all of us look at the screen again.I clenched my jaw while looking at the scene unfolding in front of us.“What did I do wrong? She is already mated now and got an alpha as her mate. She will be a fool if she even glances at me.” Nickel retorted immediately but the way he talked with them made me narrow my eyes.“It seems that we forgot to clean our ship of rats before going out to find others.” Sylvester muttered, but my eyes were now glued on Conrad and Nickel, who were yelling at each other like they were acquaintances, not superior and subordinate.“To hell with your plans and making Madeline submit to me. I am done
Madeline’s P.O.V. (Continued)I scoffed internally while digging a hole in Nickel’s face when his face turned ashen as soon as I remarked about Miranda’s request.I hit the right nail at the right time. “You are spouting nonsense, Madeline.” He spat and I scoffed aloud while rolling my eyes openly.“And what nonsense I spouted, Nickel? I dare you to refuse that she didn’t make this request, and it didn’t hurt your pride, Nickel.” I challenged him aloud, holding my head high.“Enough, Madeline. We are not here for any physical fight.” Conrad scolded me sternly.“As if he has a chance to even stand up in front of me.” I muttered in a low voice, but Nickel growled aloud.“You know what? I did the right thing by rejecting you, you filthy mutt.” He spat angrily and I grimaced.“You forgot that I forced you to accept my rejection when you were writhing like the worm that you are on the ground in pain, Nickel. I walked away, keeping my head high while you embarrassed yourself by screaming li
Madeline’s P.O.V.“Calm down, pup. You cannot disrespect us like this.” The head of the council, Conrad Hemsworth, growled at me, trying to intimidate me after I broke the table in two halves.“I am not disrespecting you, Councillor Conrad. I am questioning your understanding about me.” I spat angrily. My chest was hurting so badly because of the anger that I could lash out at them at any time.“You have seen me growing up all these years, basically after that rogue attack in which I lost my wolf. Have you ever seen me lowering my head to anyone?” I asked him angrily, still trying hard to stay calm, but Aurora’s anger was fueling mine too.His expression darkened but he didn’t open his mouth. Nickel was still sitting stiffly at the other side of the room, opposite to me.“All of you were there when he and his chosen mate humiliated me verbally, but none of them raise a single voice at him. Why? And now why are you hoping with me that I would have fought for my mate bond with him when
Adolphus’s P.O.V. (Continued)We followed Sylvester without saying a word again. I welcomed this silence because this was enough for me to calm myself down.I was only 15 when I was approached by a mysterious man, asking me if I wished to join a secret organization that dealt with whoever hurt innocent people and packs in our world. This included all the other creatures too, including humans. I joined and took an oath that I would never reveal my involvement with this organization to anyone, not even to my mate.My training as a secret assassin started after I joined the alpha’s academy. I participated in so many secret missions to save packs from sudden attacks on them. It included a few attacks on my own pack.I trained, fought, and continued rising in rank in just three years. I learned about a secret organization that had been trying to develop hybrids in labs. With others, including Sylvester, we developed so many methods to deal with those hybrids, including physical fights and
