LOGINAdolphus’s P.O.V.
“O come on, Adolphus. Stop staring at the bracelet. She will definitely like it.” Nathan yelled at me angrily this time and tried to snatch the box that I had in my hands, but I yanked it away and glared at him. There is now way that I will let him have this box which is a gift that I personally chose for Maddie. “We missed four of her birthdays, Nathan, and we weren’t with her when she didn’t get her wolf on her sixteenth birthday and then on her eighteenth birthday. Do you think that just a bracelet will make do for everything?” I asked him angrily. He huffed and slumped his shoulders. “Tonight is supposed to be a happy night for all of us, Adolphus. I know that you are worried for her, but we were helpless. We couldn’t come back or else do you think that I would have stayed away from her when she needed me the most?” he asked me, sounding both angry and regretful. I took a deep breath and looked in the other direction. I know that none of us had stayed away from her in those situations, but I also know how strong-willed Maddie is. In the past four years, I couldn’t watch her growing but knew everything about her. “Now we are back, brother, and soon she will share the beta title with me. We will be inseparable from tonight onwards.” Nathan comforted me, but the regret and pain in his voice didn’t subside. We bought a beautiful emerald bracelet for her, complimenting her sea green eyes, but it felt not enough for her now. “You know Maddie left a very strong impression on other leaders during the alpha meet this time?” He asked me again after some time, recomposing himself by now. I closed the box and put it back inside the internal pocket of my jacket. The weather was a bit cold now, as it was already October. Not that for me, as I was an alpha blood, but I still had a thin jacket over the t-shirt that I had worn inside. “Mom said that the royal couple also praised her for her vision on expanding businesses in the human world, and how to keep ourselves hidden among them. With the increase in the popularity of technology, it will be really hard for us to stay hidden all the time.” I told him what Mom told me about the alpha meet. “I am also thinking the same. We need employment opportunities for our people and also funds to feed and keep our people safe. Without expanding our businesses out of the borders, it will not be possible for us.” Nathan agreed, having a serious expression on his face. “I am thinking about calling a meeting with the alphas of all the neighboring packs to start a joint venture in the human world, employing our people there so that it can give us a good start.” I told him about my planning. “That’s a good thought. This way, we won’t have to fight with each other for resources,” he added and I nodded in agreement. I smiled helplessly when my phone started ringing again. It was my father and it was his fifth call by now. At the same time, Nathan’s phone also started ringing. “Aaah… not again.” He groaned angrily, and I laughed while showing him the screen of my phone. “What’s wrong with these old men? They refused to let us run in our wolf’s form, and now they are practically blowing up our phones with their calls.” He grumbled but picked up the call. I also picked up the call at the same time. I didn’t want my father to scold me if I miss this call. “How far are you two?” I rolled my eyes when I heard the same question coming out of both my phone and Nathan’s phone. “Dad, you two called us only four minutes ago. And come on, guys, at least ask each other once before calling both of us at the same time.” I grumbled annoyingly. “Okay… I called you to tell you that you and Nathan will come directly to the party venue. Although Maddie has the situation there under control, I think we all should stay there and wait for you guys there.” He told me and I nodded in response. “Words. They can’t see us.” Nathan pointed and I gave him a flat look. “OKay, Dad…. we will take twenty more minutes, and please stop calling us so frequently. Mom, and Rita called us only two times after we left the academy but you and Albert have already called us nine times.” I was really frustrated by now. “We are just a bit more excited them, you know.” he shrugged nonchalantly and I grimaced. Without saying a word again, both I and Nathan hung up. “Let’s rest for a while. The party will go on the whole night.” Nathan suggested and I threw my head at the top of the backrest. I don’t know why I was so excited to meet Maddie, but I desperately wanted to see her. It had been ages that I had seen her last. Of course, we video-called each other a few times, but that wasn’t enough. From the young age, I had always been possessive about her. In the pack, everyone said that we could be mates, but when Onyx surfaced, he felt no connection with her. “You are wrong. I always adore her.” Onyx chimed in, correcting me in a flat voice. “But she is not our mate.” I argued, and he snorted. “That was when she was not even sixteen. You know very well that we can’t feel the connection with our mate before they come of age,” he argued back and I huffed. “Do you still wish her to be our mate?” I asked him in a low voice. He sighed and slowly put his snout on his overlapped paws. “She is everything that I can imagine in my mate, Adolphus. I truly wish that the Moon Goddess blesses us with her as our mate. It will be good for both us and her. She doesn’t have to leave the pack then, and we will get the girl whom we love the most.” he replied, sounding hopeful. I smiled and looked out of the window. The darkness of the night had started engulfing the surroundings but it also enhanced the dark beauty of the nature around us. Onyx was right. After learning that Maddie is wolf-less, I was not only heartbroken, but also worried for her. They never told us if she had found her mate by now or not. So, I assumed that she was still single. It only made me more hopeful to be her mate. Even if I am not, I will make sure that her mate will cherish her and give her the love that she deserves if she finds him in the future. “She is our princess, Adolphus. Of course, we will never allow anyone to break her heart.” Onyx declared, and I smiled widely, agreeing with him again.Adolphus’s P.O.V.“You need to rest for now, Adolphus. At least for tonight. You and Onyx are still agitated. Going out for a fight is not favorable in your condition.” Nathan was still worried while I finished putting some clothes on after taking a much-needed shower.“Who said that we are going to fight tonight, Nathan?” I asked him while putting on tights.“Then?” he asked in confusion.“We are going to hunt tonight, Nathan. They didn’t attack them that night. They hunted them.” I replied in a cold and firm voice. Those voices were still ringing at the back of my mind, giving me a headache, but I knew that thrust of blood couldn’t be quenched by anything else. And both I and Onyx wanted so much blood, not just of some small animal, but a lot of blood.“It’s not like you didn’t see what happened back then.” I added in the same tone.“But what if this is a trap? Uncle Sebastian said he isn’t the one who put that print there. Heck, he denied having this kind of power. It meant that so
Nathan’s P.O.V. (Continued)He is an emotional man, and that’s why, he shed more tears than my mother in emotional situations.Of course, he would be sentimental right now. After all, this was his cousin who was supposed to be dead for more than eighteen years.“You are still the same, Albert.” Uncle teased him, but I sensed a crack in his voice.Dad laughed and sniffed a few times before taking a deep breath, and regaining his serious demeanour.“You shouldn’t be out there for long, Sebastian. They are still hunting you,” Dad warned him in a serious tone.“We are Whitelocks, Albert. We are not born to be timid and afraid of dangers.” Sebastian boasted, but the level of confidence in his tone couldn’t be called the arrogance.“I know, and none of our family go scared while facing danger, Sebastian, but this is not about our fight against a natural enemy.” Dad was still worried, and I understand his worry perfectly.“I think, there is a way to let him bring inside the pack without bein
Nathan’s P.O.V. (Continued)“Like getting out of a tub of boiled oil,” he replied with a groan, still painful and filled with agony.“Your temperature is still high, but it will be down in a few minutes.” Mayra mumbled and slowly put his hand back on the bed.“Now, I want you to tell me what exactly happened that triggered Madeline and you to the extent where your body resisted the shift while your wolf tried to shift with all his strength.” She asked him with a serious expression.“Is he still under the influence of that?” Alpha Lucifer asked her worriedly.“Yeah. They should be calm by now, but their body temperature is still high—not a fever, but the high body temperature because of the struggle between his body and his wolf.” She explained and I took a deep breath.“That palm print….. I thought that …. That Alpha Sebastian left that palm print there. So, I took Madeline to feel that. But something went wrong as soon as she put her hand in the middle of that palm print. She started
Sebastian’s P.O.V. (Continued)“Meet me at the same area if you know where to. I guess we need to investigate that area first before we sit down together.” He advised me and I stopped in front of my car.My heart immediately calmed, and a small smile crept on my lips.I was calm by now. Winter was right. I was a bit impulsive, but after hearing Nathan, the first thing that I needed to do was to find that person who was responsible for Madeline and Adolphus.“I will wait for you at the same spot where you saw me standing. It’s not good for us to talk over the call for long. So, I am hanging up now,” He told me before hanging up.I was confused but soon all the lines on my forehead straightened when I realized what he said.“Sly b*stard.” I cursed with a faint smile.I looked behind and saw Winter coming running towards me.“I will go with you,” she said to me with a stern face.“No, you stay here and infiltrate the council.” I instructed her and she furrowed her brows.“Ashton Hampton.
Sebastian’s P.O.V. (Continued)I wanted to refute, but I watched their interaction. Lucifer and Hailley didn’t announce anything about their son’s mating. Are they ashamed of Maddie because she doesn’t have her wolf?My molars almost ground tightly in anger.Madeline and Adolphus are surely mates. Their interaction was intimate, and I could see Madeline’s trust in Adolphus. So why is there no news about their mating?I watched Adolphus dragging her in the same direction where Madeline held her hand, pointing a finger. They soon disappeared from the screen, which frustrated me.“Damn it. I should have planted a few more cameras there.” Winter muttered in frustration.I was about to tell her to stay calm when something unexpected happened. My whole body shuddered hard, and even Zyphre jumped on his feet at the back of my mind when Madeline suddenly screamed aloud as if she were in immense pain.Zyphre roared aloud, ready to shift, and ran to find Madeline. I never felt this urge for any
Sebastian’s P.O.V.“What do you mean that someone put something there to mess with them?” I asked Winter angrily, completely taken off guard by her words. She just came back from Lucifer's pack and started rambling about some stuff that happened there when I heard her mentioning that.“I am telling you the truth, Sebastian. I made a clean exit but faltered when I saw someone already there. You won’t believe how similar his aura is to yours. I followed him, but he suddenly vanished as if he was never there.” Winter replied aggressively, anger, frustration, and disbelief still evident in her voice.I narrowed my eyes when I grasped that particular phrase.“What do you mean his aura was similar to mine?” I asked him, holding her by the shoulders so that I could see in her eyes.“It means that for a second, I felt that it was you, not someone else, but his body was thinner and shorter than yours. That’s why I know that you weren’t there. They might have caught me on the camera at the same
