MasukAdolphus’s P.O.V.
“O come on, Adolphus. Stop staring at the bracelet. She will definitely like it.” Nathan yelled at me angrily this time and tried to snatch the box that I had in my hands, but I yanked it away and glared at him. There is now way that I will let him have this box which is a gift that I personally chose for Maddie. “We missed four of her birthdays, Nathan, and we weren’t with her when she didn’t get her wolf on her sixteenth birthday and then on her eighteenth birthday. Do you think that just a bracelet will make do for everything?” I asked him angrily. He huffed and slumped his shoulders. “Tonight is supposed to be a happy night for all of us, Adolphus. I know that you are worried for her, but we were helpless. We couldn’t come back or else do you think that I would have stayed away from her when she needed me the most?” he asked me, sounding both angry and regretful. I took a deep breath and looked in the other direction. I know that none of us had stayed away from her in those situations, but I also know how strong-willed Maddie is. In the past four years, I couldn’t watch her growing but knew everything about her. “Now we are back, brother, and soon she will share the beta title with me. We will be inseparable from tonight onwards.” Nathan comforted me, but the regret and pain in his voice didn’t subside. We bought a beautiful emerald bracelet for her, complimenting her sea green eyes, but it felt not enough for her now. “You know Maddie left a very strong impression on other leaders during the alpha meet this time?” He asked me again after some time, recomposing himself by now. I closed the box and put it back inside the internal pocket of my jacket. The weather was a bit cold now, as it was already October. Not that for me, as I was an alpha blood, but I still had a thin jacket over the t-shirt that I had worn inside. “Mom said that the royal couple also praised her for her vision on expanding businesses in the human world, and how to keep ourselves hidden among them. With the increase in the popularity of technology, it will be really hard for us to stay hidden all the time.” I told him what Mom told me about the alpha meet. “I am also thinking the same. We need employment opportunities for our people and also funds to feed and keep our people safe. Without expanding our businesses out of the borders, it will not be possible for us.” Nathan agreed, having a serious expression on his face. “I am thinking about calling a meeting with the alphas of all the neighboring packs to start a joint venture in the human world, employing our people there so that it can give us a good start.” I told him about my planning. “That’s a good thought. This way, we won’t have to fight with each other for resources,” he added and I nodded in agreement. I smiled helplessly when my phone started ringing again. It was my father and it was his fifth call by now. At the same time, Nathan’s phone also started ringing. “Aaah… not again.” He groaned angrily, and I laughed while showing him the screen of my phone. “What’s wrong with these old men? They refused to let us run in our wolf’s form, and now they are practically blowing up our phones with their calls.” He grumbled but picked up the call. I also picked up the call at the same time. I didn’t want my father to scold me if I miss this call. “How far are you two?” I rolled my eyes when I heard the same question coming out of both my phone and Nathan’s phone. “Dad, you two called us only four minutes ago. And come on, guys, at least ask each other once before calling both of us at the same time.” I grumbled annoyingly. “Okay… I called you to tell you that you and Nathan will come directly to the party venue. Although Maddie has the situation there under control, I think we all should stay there and wait for you guys there.” He told me and I nodded in response. “Words. They can’t see us.” Nathan pointed and I gave him a flat look. “OKay, Dad…. we will take twenty more minutes, and please stop calling us so frequently. Mom, and Rita called us only two times after we left the academy but you and Albert have already called us nine times.” I was really frustrated by now. “We are just a bit more excited them, you know.” he shrugged nonchalantly and I grimaced. Without saying a word again, both I and Nathan hung up. “Let’s rest for a while. The party will go on the whole night.” Nathan suggested and I threw my head at the top of the backrest. I don’t know why I was so excited to meet Maddie, but I desperately wanted to see her. It had been ages that I had seen her last. Of course, we video-called each other a few times, but that wasn’t enough. From the young age, I had always been possessive about her. In the pack, everyone said that we could be mates, but when Onyx surfaced, he felt no connection with her. “You are wrong. I always adore her.” Onyx chimed in, correcting me in a flat voice. “But she is not our mate.” I argued, and he snorted. “That was when she was not even sixteen. You know very well that we can’t feel the connection with our mate before they come of age,” he argued back and I huffed. “Do you still wish her to be our mate?” I asked him in a low voice. He sighed and slowly put his snout on his overlapped paws. “She is everything that I can imagine in my mate, Adolphus. I truly wish that the Moon Goddess blesses us with her as our mate. It will be good for both us and her. She doesn’t have to leave the pack then, and we will get the girl whom we love the most.” he replied, sounding hopeful. I smiled and looked out of the window. The darkness of the night had started engulfing the surroundings but it also enhanced the dark beauty of the nature around us. Onyx was right. After learning that Maddie is wolf-less, I was not only heartbroken, but also worried for her. They never told us if she had found her mate by now or not. So, I assumed that she was still single. It only made me more hopeful to be her mate. Even if I am not, I will make sure that her mate will cherish her and give her the love that she deserves if she finds him in the future. “She is our princess, Adolphus. Of course, we will never allow anyone to break her heart.” Onyx declared, and I smiled widely, agreeing with him again.Lisa’s P.O.V. (Continued)“What did I do?” I asked him confusingly while leaning back lazily. His face twisted in anger, which confused me more, as I really had no idea why he was angry.“They know, you stupid woman. No one except you and me could know what happened between us back then. How did they know?” He roared aloud, and I froze.I just blinked, and he continued shooting daggers at me through his eyes. He fished his phone out of his pocket hastily and threw it at me.The phone almost hit my face, but I caught it before it could hit my nose. This wasn’t the first time that Raymond was this aggressive. It wouldn’t be a surprise if he wanted his hand on me. It wouldn’t be the first time.I looked at the screen and held my breath in fear.Cassius sent a message to him a few minutes ago. I read the message with a furiously beating heart. How could he know what I and Raymond did back then? Whatever happened between me and Raymond was only between us. Not a single soul knew about that
Angel’s P.O.V. (Continued)“They are my friends, love. You are right. All of them are alphas by blood, and a few of them are future alphas. I called them there for backup, as I had a hunch that something wrong could happen there. I am still grateful to them that they were there.” He replied to me with a faint smile, but I was still sure that he wasn’t telling me everything.“And about that alpha healer, you are right. I should talk to him and stop him from using his healing abilities in front of others.” He added it with the same faint smile on his lips.I nodded in response and started walking again. I had enough in my plate. I knew that he would never do anything to hurt me or the pack. So, I decided not to dwell on this matter. He kept me in his side embrace as we walked our way to the pack house where our offices were.“If the war happens, will they and their pack be a help to us?” I asked him calmly, breaking the silence between us, which, I don’t know why, rubbed me the wrong wa
Angel’s P.O.V. (Continued)“You are right. We need to talk to Uncle Sebastian. He is now a key person in the whole situation.” Nathan spoke after me in a serious tone.“Right. Let’s call him here. It has been days since I saw him.” Winter requested while looking at Nathan with a puppy look on her face.I lowered my eyes and glanced at Adolphus, who also looked at me at the same time.“We should go now. We still need to talk to Sylvester.” Adolphus suggested in a low voice.“Sylvester? Why do you need to talk to him?” Nathan asked in a raised voice.“He asked for a conference call.” I told him and slowly stood up from the chair where I had been sitting all the time.“You don’t need to talk to him. He can’t be trusted,” Nahan instructed angrily.“You are right, Nathan. In the present circumstances, and also his relationship with Lisa and Raymond, but I still have a few things to clear with him. When Angel was accused of attacking Lisa at that time, he dealt with the situation fairly. He
Angel’s P.O.V.“I know that my pack has something mysterious inside it, but I really don’t know what that thing is. When Sebastian saved me, my father was dying. So, if you want any information on this, I am sure that Sebastian knows better than me,” Winter answered me honestly, but I could hear her emotional turmoil.“Relax, my love. Everything will be okay. We are going to revive your pack too. So, we must know everything. Let’s not talk about the engineering skills, but their skills in genetic engineering? We have been dealing with hybrids for a long time. What if someone took advantage of their knowledge and killed the whole pack to hide this secret?” Nathan comforted her, but he didn’t sugarcoat anything.“You are right, Nathan, and I also understand the severity of this matter. Converting a human into a vampire is not that tough. A vampire needs to bite a human, and then the human goes through the transformation if he succeeds in surviving the bite. But werewolves?” Winter took
Adolphus’ P.O.V. (Continued)“After learning what she did back then, if you say that she was behind that attack on herself to frame Angel, I will believe you.” Mom remarked angrily. She was restless. Dad immediately wrapped his hand around her shoulder from behind.“Calm down, Mom, Mom Rita. This is not the time to lose our temper.” I asked them calmly, and both of them glared at me.My body trembled a little, and I looked at them while blinking innocently.“Adolphus is right, Mom. Losing our temper will only hurt her. The first thing that we need to know is who else is helping her. Lisa is not powerful enough to do everything on her own. I understand her grudge against Mom Ava, but why would Raymond help her or help anyone else who wants to destroy our packs when he knows very well that we are his and Sylvester’s strongest ally?” Angel spoke to them in a serious tone, and I also nodded in agreement.“Don’t forget that Adolphus and Nathan are also the strongest competitors.” Dad remin
Adolphus’s P.O.V.“Where is Angel?” Dad asked me with a concerned look when I sat down on the chair beside the dining table. Mom and Dad decided to have breakfast together at my place. That’s why they were here early in the morning.“She is sleeping,” I replied to him casually and grinned when Mom put a big glass of warm milk in front of me. I always had milk in the morning instead of any form of caffeine.“Let her sleep as much as she wants to. The girl went through so much.” Mom spoke calmly while taking her seat beside Dad on the other side.“Did you get any update on Graham’s condition?” I asked him while taking a sandwich from the serving plate.“Yeah. He found his mate.” He replied to me, and I almost choked on the food in my mouth.I raised my brows in surprise while coughing a little. “What? When?” I still managed to ask him, surprised evident in my tone.“She was among the members in those buses. They all had masked their scents to save themselves from any rogue attack during
