MasukThe sound of a car's engine being roared to life was what woke Jade up. Her eyes fluttered open and she blinked her lashes a few times just to get the blurriness off her vision. She realized that she was still in the living room and she was on the couch. The engine from outside suddenly stopped and that was her cue to stand up. Jade gently pushed herself up from the sleeping position and looked around the room. It was empty. What happened? The coat on her shoulder slipped off to her lap and that was what grab her attention. It was a long black thick coat and she was sure that it didn't belong to her. That was when it clicked. It had Jace's scent all over it. It was his. She curled her fingers underneath it and squeezed as she brought the coat closer to herself to inhale. It smelled nice. He smelled nice. He didn't change the perfume he had been using. She closed her eyes and flashback to the moment that they had spent together. When she opened her eyes again, they landed on t
"I am selling my company." Jace informed her immediately they settled for dinner. Jade didn't seem to be top surprise but curious to know more. He had already complained that things were not going well with his company so it was only reasonable that this was his next course of action. "But are you are about this? Have you considered your options well?" She asked him with concern and he nodded. "I have a new business plan in mind and I am already working on it." He replied. The remaining conversations for the night was minimal and they both retired to their rooms after that. It's been a day or two after that. Jace, even though he had been busy with his new business plan, still managed to babysit Harper. He didn't mind it. He was starting to like this baby. Being with Harper brought this kind of relief to his heart. Having conversations with Jade as well...sitting at the table laughing and gisting, it was as if he was given a chance to make things right for himself. Jace
"Where are you?" It was no other than Jackson who was on the other side of the call. He was munching on an apple as he stared at his friend, Jace, from the other side of the phone. Jace was dressed in all black and was wearing a nose mask. "You don't know where I am? You can't see?" Jace replied, causing Jack to roll out his laughter. "You look like a ninja on a mission." "Well...that's no further from the truth. "It's been a few days and some of the things that he bought for cooking had finished. He wanted to get more before Jade's arrival. "But whose child is that? Yours? You look alike. She has your eyes...infact, your whole face." Jace chuckled, "You can also see that, right? I thought I was crazy." He had noticed a few similarities between him and Harper but he didn't think too much about it. It was only for two people to look alike. Maybe it was because of the similarities that he felt drawn to the kid. "But whose child? Mara's friend's?" "Yea
Mara stared at her phone in her left hand as slipped into her desires, leaving the TV turned on and its noise fading right into the background.Where could her brother be? She felt completely restless and helpless. She was unhappy about it all. It was hard doing life alone...with no other support. She had previously gone through her chats with her brother and his answers had been monotonous. No explanation. She couldn't even afford to get a hacker to track his location or something. The phone dinged. Thinking it was probably a notification from who she desperately wanted to see, she lifted the phone to her view but her hopes were crushed on realising that it was her ex. In his message was a long apology. Mara had previously blocked his number but he was adamant and had persistently reached out to her with other numbers. Just as she was about to put down the phone, Jackson's message dropped. "I know you must be thinking hard about your life as usual. If that's the case, I wan
"What are you guys doing?" Jade asked and as soon as Jace's face came in to full light, Jade could hardly stand still. Despite how hard she tried to control it, she failed. She staggered to the side as she burst into laughter, falling down to her knees gently amd holding onto her tummy for balance. Jace rolled his eyes playfully but the pure laughter coming out from this woman only made his heart tingle. He sure didn't expect her to laugh this hard. Maybe this could have amused her, just a little. That was his thought. But this...her reaction. It was valid and genuine enough. "Alright you can stop laughing now, Jade. It's really embarrassing to see you laugh at my face." Jade managed to say but not without a smile emerging on his face instead. Jade finally calmed down but couldn't stand up instantly anymore. Instead, she leaned against the chair so her laughter could slow down. "You look...funny." she managed to catch her breath. "Judging from your reaction, I can s
"Oh, you didn't come with Harper today?" Janice asked with a grunt as she put down the bucket of water she had fetched. According to her, it was stressful climbing up the stairs just to get the water when there was a tap next to the kitchen. She heaved heavily and wiped her invisible sweat. Jade smiled and pressed in some buttons before the washing machine began to roll. "She's at home now. I found someone to babysit her." "Who? Her dad?" Janice's questioned dropped like a bomb in an unexpected city and its inhabitants. Jane blinked, her lips parted slightly as she thought of an answer. Well, technically...she was being babysitted by her dad but announcing it to this woman would be indirectly saying that she was with Harper's father and they were one big family even though they weren't...technically once again.Sensing her struggle to answer her question, Janice hit Jade's left shoulder playfully. This caused her to flinch just a little bit because she didn't expect that
