Chapter 4

Once we reached the living room, I finally realized that all of Knight Corp's shareholders were actually here. I turned to look at Dad, feeling my throat go tight and dry all of a sudden.

"What's the meaning of this, Dad?"

He responded by whacking my leg with his ornate cane.

"Get down on your knees!"

Soon, my knees crashed onto the icy floor with a loud thud.

As I gazed up at Dad, I asked, "Did I do something wrong?"

Dad glared at me with pain in his eyes. "If it wasn't for Lance breaking the news to me, how long did you plan on hiding the truth from me? I will never let a sterile, impotent freak like you become the future head of Knight Corp!

"Having taken your contributions to Knight Corp into consideration, you are to commandeer the overseas branch from now on, Archer. As for everything else, I shall entrust them to Lance."

I got up from the floor instantly.

"Dad, those tabloids are just making a fuss out of nothing! There's nothing wrong with my physical health!"

But Dad just waved a hand languidly at me. The next thing I knew, a few bodyguards pinned me back down on the floor again, forcing me down on my knees.

Lance let out an amused chortle.

"Archer, there aren't any outsiders here. You can quit acting dumb now. If there truly wasn't anything wrong with your health, why was Amethyst still a virgin despite having dated you for five years?"

Dad's brows were slowly drawn together into a frown. Clearly, he was displeased by the way Lance had suddenly cut him off. But he decided to tolerate Lance's disrespect because of my so-called disability.

"Your brother is right. The most important thing is, everyone now knows that you're sexually impotent. They even claim that you used your background to coerce Amethyst into dating you and that you broke her and Lance up.

"These scandals have left a huge negative impact on Knight Corp's stock prices."

By the time Dad reached this part, he was already covering his mouth as he coughed.

"After a brief discussion with the shareholders, they collectively decided to strip you of your position as the CEO from today onward. Lance, on the other hand, will be taking over your duties."

Lance could no longer conceal the smugness on his face. He used the celebration as an excuse to dump an entire bottle of red wine on my head.

"The winner takes it all, Archer. Remember to show me respect whenever you see me in the future."

My eyes went wide with rage. I struggled with all my might to break free from the bodyguards so that I could lunge at Lance. Unfortunately, the bodyguards did a great job pinning me down, so I couldn't move an inch at all.

That was when Dad finally spoke up.

"That's enough. Archer, from now on, you shall reflect on your behavior at home. You aren't allowed to set foot out of this manor without my permission."

I could only stare at Dad in disbelief.

"Dad, are you seriously entrusting Knight Corp to an illegitimate son who knows nothing about running a business? You know very well just how much I've contributed to the company over the past few years!"

Enraged, Dad slammed a hand onto the coffee table.

"A useless piece of trash like you, who can't even keep his girlfriend in check, has no right to talk about how to run a business!"

At that moment, Lance smirked in satisfaction. He then patted my cheek in a condescending manner.

"By the way, I forgot to tell you that Amethyst is pregnant with my baby."

Stunned, I turned to look at Amethyst's belly, which was still flat at the time. Then, I noticed the way Dad tentatively avoided looking at me.

It was then that I finally realized the actual reason behind his resolve to let Lance take over my spot as the heir.

Obviously, Dad valued Lance, who had already planted a seed of life within Amethyst. In comparison, I was just a useless heir who couldn't procreate at all thanks to my disability.

Having connected the dots, I just chuckled in amusement.

"Dad, are you really sure that Amethyst is pregnant with your beloved grandchild?"
