Lily's POV
"Be responsible, Lily! Not because someone smoothed the way for you to get in means you can slack off. You're not a VIP here!" I kept my head down. My superior is nagging me again because I was 5 minutes late. Someone smoothed the way. I want to defend myself but she's right. I'm will not be accepted here if not because of Rogue. "I'm sorry." "You're always sorry. You're always sorry, Lily! You never learned!" I lifted my face. "I never repeat my mistakes." "Sure you don't but you always find another mistake. What the hell are you trying to pull, Lily? That you can do whatever you want because someone from the higher position got your back? Wait until your mistakes reach the CEO, Lily. Let's see if you still have the guts." I chewed my bottom lip. Rogue will be very angry but I don't care. I'm doing my job. So I'm not scared. "Go back to work!" I nodded and sat on my chair after she left. I heaved a sigh and licked my bottom lip. "You really like attention, huh?" I lifted my face only to see my colleague watching me with an annoyed expression on her face. "I'm not stealing anyone's attention." She chuckled without humor. "Go on! Keep pretending. No one cares, anyway." I heaved a sigh after she left. Another colleague approached me. He looked so concerned and I'm happy because he's the only one who showed care. "Are you okay, Lily?" I nodded. "I'm okay, Josh." He heaved a sigh and put a cup of coffee on my table. "Here. I just bought it outside. To somehow calm you down." I quickly shook my head, shocked. "I'm okay, Josh. Thank you." "No! You drink that, Lily. You were late so I'm pretty sure you skipped breakfast." My lips twisted. I smiled awkwardly. "Thank you." "No problem. I'm just two tables away. Call me if you need anything." I stared at him with gratitude. "Thank you so much, Josh." My eyes landed on the picture frame in my table. The other one was me and my parents, while the other one was my grandfather and the Don. Pressing my lips together, an unruly wave of painful memories visited my mind. *Flashback* "Why didn't your grandfather tell me about it, Lily? For God's sake he's ill!" I looked down. "H-He doesn't want you to worry and he doesn't want the people to think that we're taking advantage of your family." "Stupid! That old man is really stupid! He's like a brother to me, Lily. He's my best friend. Whatever it is, I'll be on his side. I'll help him. I'm glad you came to me." I chewed my bottom lip and looked down. We're riding Don Rogue Harrison's expensive car. I went to him to ask for help after I heard from my mother that my grandfather is dying and he needs immediate surgery. The Don held my hand and caressed them. "We'll save your grandfather, Lily. I promise you." But some promises are really meant to be broken. My grandfather died after his operation. The doctor said his body wasn't that strong and he didn't make it although he got through the operation successfully. Don Rogue Harrison helped my family when we desperately needed help. Especially after my father fell into depression. Now, I'll do everything not to break my promise to him. I owe him everything. He helped my mother manage my grandfather's business before. He was one of the reasons why our family recovered, but then again, my dad died and mom fell ill. It was depressing to reminisce. Thinking about it breaks my heart into pieces. "I'm not gonna fail you, grandpa…" I whispered as I stared at the picture frame. "Lily, the CEO wants to see you." My lips parted and my heart instantly raced. Rogue wants to see me? Why? "What? Go now!" I panicked and quickly nodded. I was so nervous while I'm inside the elevator. I kept on biting my bottom lip until I reached my destination floor. Rogue's secretary is walking back and forth in front of her desk, making me even more nervous. "Lily, right?" She immediately noticed me. I slowly nodded. "Y-Yes." "You ruined his mood, Lily. It's probably because of what happened in the elevator. He looked so angry. He might fire you." I squeezed my eyes closed. My breathing almost stopped. "Follow me." She knocked twice on the door before she opened it. "Mr. Harrison, she's here." The secretary looked at me and nodded. I entered Rogue's office alone and closed the door. I stood in the middle of the office, looking at Rogue who's sitting on the swivel chair. His legs are crossed and he has a stick of cigarette in the middle of his fingers. I chewed my bottom lip. "S-Sir…" "Is this yours?" He threw a folder on the floor. My lips parted after I saw the design he approved yesterday. My heart instantly became untamed. Fear consumed me as I stared at the design. What is he planning to do? He pulled himself up and walked towards me with power and dominance. He looked so handsome in his business suit. His disheveled hair made him look rugged. I almost coughed when he puffed the smoke of his cigarette on my face. I looked away. Irritation filled me. Is he not aware that secondhand smoke is more dangerous? "Look at me, woman." Like an obedient prey, I looked at his wolf-like eyes. "I don't like it when the person I'm talking to is not looking at me. That's very disrespectful, Lily." I swallowed hard and almost crumpled the folder in my hand. He crouched and held my gaze intensely. "I don't like your design. Change it." I sucked my breath and my eyes widened. "W-What?" He sat on the edge of the table and stared at me intensely. "Change your design, Lily. I'm not satisfied." I shook my head. "B-But you already approved it." "Are you opposing me, Lily?" "Rogue, you can't do this to me!" "Of course, I can. And where's your respect? Call me sir, Lily. We're not friends!" I looked down and chewed my bottom lip as my breathing became rugged. "T-The printing started yesterday, Sir. I can't just stop it—" "You have to stop it, Lily. The distribution of the product is nearing. I don't like lazy employees." I bore my eyes at him again. "Why are you doing this?" He smirked. "You're taking it personally, Lily. Can't I change my mind?" Tears formed in the corner of my eyes because of anger and frustration. I turned my back on him and marched out of his office with tears in the corner of my eyes. How can I stop the printing out of the blue? For God's sake, they started it yesterday. This is so freaking frustrating!Lily's POVI did not bother opening the lights when I entered my condo unit like a walking dead. My eyes were puffy. My lips were sealed. My messy hair was down as I hugged the picture of my mother. The depressing darkness enveloped the whole unit and my heart. The sudden death of my mother was still hard to accept. Her last memory in my head was the time she talked to me about divorcing Rogue. I didn't even talk to her about the things she wants to do and she misses to do. I was too confident that she'd make it since her doctors are the best in their field.I should've talked to her often. I should've told her stories about my life. I should've hugged her when she can still hug me back. I should've held her hand when she can still hold mine.“M-Mom…” Tears rolled down my cheeks again as I sat behind the couch and rested my back on it.The pain of losing loved ones is so unbearable. My heart felt like breaking into a million tiny pieces and I couldn't find a way to put it back togethe
Lily’s POV“What’s wrong with you?” I asked angrily after I pushed Rogue against the wall. I dragged him to the warehouse where no one would see us or listen to us. I don’t know what his deal is but I really hate it when he interferes with my life. He just won’t stop manipulating me, huh?He clenched his jaws and stared at me darkly, “I should be the one asking you that, Lily. What’s wrong with you? Why are you talking to that man?”I shook my head in disbelief, “Not because you’re my husband doesn’t mean you can completely control me. I am not your possession, Rogue. I will talk to anyone I want to talk to and you have no say in that.”His eyes sharpened even more, “Why do you even want to talk to him, huh? Are you interested in him?”“Can you hear yourself?” I asked angrily. “You unjustly fired the person and now you’re thinking ill of our friendship? Josh, I don’t have the time to be interested i
Lily’s POV“Carry the table inside.”I gritted my teeth and pressed my palm against the table. I turned to Rogue and shot him sharp gazes. He looked at me with furrowed eyebrows when I stopped the two male employees he called to transfer the table inside his office.“What? You want a new table?”I hissed, “I want my previous position, Rogue! I don’t want to be your secretary!”I could feel the employees around watching us. They seemed curious, shocked and scared especially when Rogue’s expression darkened. He clenched his jaws, “I fired my secretary, Lily!”“It’s your problem! I want my previous position not this.”He took a deep breath as if he’s restraining his anger. I was glaring at him while he’s looking at me with a cold expression on his face. His lips were in a thin line and I can feel the tension that’s making the employees around us stiff. If he really wants us to get along, he should know that manipulating me would only intensify the cold war between us.He clenched his jaw
Lily’s POV I was drinking coffee while massaging my aching head when someone entered my kitchen. Obviously, it’s Rogue. I should really change my passcode so he won’t be able to come here whenever he pleases. “Let’s go to work together.”I didn’t react to what he said. I continued sipping on my coffee while staring at the island counter. Right! I have to work today and surely, everyone in the company heard about what happened at the party. “Lily, I said let’s go to work together.”I lazily lifted my arm. “No need to repeat. I heard it the first time. It’s just that…I’m not interested.”He clenched his jaws as he stared into my eyes. “I’ll appoint you as my secretary.”That’s when I lifted my face and looked at him. “What did you say?”“I think you heard me the first time, Lily.”I gritted my teeth and glared at him. “I will resign if you do that!”He tilted his head and took his phone out. He called someone and said… “Hello? You’re fired.”My eyes widened. “Who’s that?”He smirked.
Lily’s POVI angrily sat on the stool of the bar and ordered a drink. The female bartender smiled after pushing the glass of drink in front of me., “Men problems?”I scoffed, “A devil problem, I’d say.”She chuckled, “I hope he’s better than the British devil in Armani Lucifer Morningstar or the expensive drink won’t be worth it.”I sighed and my forehead creased when I saw Rogue entering the club. Oh shit! Did he just follow me after I walked out of the party? I still can’t believe what he did, alright? He introduced me to everyone as his fiancee. A fiancee? Really? Not that I want him to introduce me as his wife. It’s just that his confession will surely change my life—oh especially in the office.“Speak of the devil,” I whispered as I stared at the man who immediately spotted me among the crowd. The female bartender chuckled which made me look at her. She shrugged her shoulders and grinned, “Hotter. The drink is on the house, babe.”My forehead creased as she turned her back and le
Lilys’ POV The slit of the dress that Rogue sent was too high. It’s almost showing my groin. I rolled my eyes and shook my head realizing I don’t have another dress to wear so I have to put up with this. Sighing, I put some light makeup on and curled my hair. I grabbed my pouch and looked at the door when I heard it open and closed. I’m inside my room so I couldn’t see who opened the main door but there’s only one person who knows my passcode. “Lily.” Right! The impatient Rogue Harrison couldn’t wait for anyone. Especially me. I lazily opened the door and caught him looking at his wristwatch. My lips parted after I saw him in a black suit. He looked dashing now that his hair was fixed properly. I looked at him from head to foot and when I looked at his face again, I realized he’s also checking me out. His lips parted when his eyes landed on my face after roaming his eyes all over my body. He cleared his throat as his eyes burned with desire. “Are we late? Let’s go,” I said as I a
