Arrange marriage

“I can’t accept it!” I shout in disgust. “No matter what you said, I will never let myself tangled with someone I never knew or see even once!” This is ridiculous, arrange marriage? And to think that the woman I will marry is the only daughter of our enemy in the south. 

“Rayton! The hell do you think you are to shout in front of your parents?” My father is furious looking at me. “This is the only way for our family to survive, you know how powerful the other pack is now and the vampires break the contract between werewolves!” 

“But doesn’t mean I should be the one who marries their daughter! Where is my brother, why don’t you ask him to marry that woman?” Why not? Between me and him, he always receives so much love from them and the people around us.

“Rayton, you know that your brother has a lover. Don’t be hard-headed, you will meet her tomorrow at the banquet when the full moon finally arrives.” My mother said I thought she will help me but why did she push me to do it too! 

“But I want to marry the person I love too! Why are you deciding about it without my consent?” I can’t help but say it coldly.

“If only we can do anything, we will not accept their offer. We want our children to be happy and free but we can’t sacrifice our people in the pack.” My mom let her vulnerable side out.

Damn it! So, they will choose to sacrifice me.

“Fine! I will meet her but I won’t promise that I will accept this marriage, it’s not simple like how you said it.” I said and stood up. “I’m done eating.”

It’s been two years since our pack become a laughing stock from others, my father lost his power when we lost the battle between the West pack and the rank of our family become low as f*ck.

My brother is a dominant Alpha, the reason why he receives so much love from people in our surroundings. While me, a low alpha won’t receive any of that even in a half.

But now, they are trying to sell me to the enemy for the sake of the pack!

Peace offering through an arranged marriage, What the fuck is that?

The enemy is the enemy, even if we offer our neck to them there is no certainty that they will stop hunting our pack or stop to snatch our territory.

I slam the door and let my body fall to the bed, I can’t vividly remember what happened two years ago but there is one person that keeps repeatedly showing in my mind. The person who tried to protect me from vampires, only her long wavy hair I can recall but, I know to myself that I can tell it’s her once I see the hair.

I close my eyes, I need to think first about what should I do to stop this nonsense. I can’t marry a woman from one of the enemies who mocked us, tomorrow… I will make sure to tell everyone that the marriage will never happen.

The morning becomes short, and the day they waited finally arrives. It’s only six in the evening yet the moon is slowly showing up its brightness.

Everyone is busy preparing the venue and the food, I want to laugh loudly as I can. Our pack is trying its best to give a warm welcome to our enemy. How ironic is this?

“Rayton.” It’s my brother looking at me like he felt sorry for me, I can’t help but clench my teeth in despite.

“Don’t look at me like that, Raycon, I don’t need your pity. Don’t waste your precious time with me, go to your lover.” I did not give any emotion to him, nothing will come out good in my mouth if we continue talking.

I look at my brother highly, it is just that I can’t control the jealousy and the emotion I felt when everyone is praising him while I also did my best yet nothing appreciates it.  

Can I finally leave the shadow of my brother if I accept the arranged marriage? Will they finally see my worth if I let my freedom tangle with our enemy just to protect them?

My decision is wavering.

I don’t know what to do now.

I just want to run away from this place.

I’m scared to let everyone look at me with disappointment in their eyes.

“THEY HERE!” One of the beta servants shouted from the gate making all the people in my surrounding become busier than earlier.

The carriage with the design of golden silk cloth stops in front of our gate hall, the intimidation from them giving a shiver down my spine. So, this is the family of the woman I will marry.

I see my dad step forward and bowed his head in front of the elder from the south pack, I hate to admit but this is how low our rank is now.

“Welcome, Alpha Gregor. We are glad that you and your pack arrive here safe.” My father finally lifted his head and look in my direction.

My chest started to thump wildly, can I stop the arranged marriage and reject this pack without a problem? Will they kill us if I do that? What should I do now?

“Come here my son,” My father extends his hand warmly to me, like how he extended his hand back then when I’m still a kid who loves the affection from him.

I walk toward him, keeping my eyes on the elder in front. I feel like I’m going to throw up right now, I’m nervous as f*ck right now.

“This is my son, Rayton. He’s not dominant but knows how to fight.” My father started to introduce me, it’s not so proudly but he’s trying to give a good impression about me.

“Dominant or low Alpha, it’s not important right now. As long my daughter wants him nothing should talk more about.” The elder, who is the former leader of the south pack finally speaks.
