Welcome to South

The carriage is now ready for us to travel to the south, my things are already inside. This is the reality, I am going to the enemy’s territory as their ally now… Not a simple ally but the fiancé of their leader.

“What? Why don’t you go inside, want to run away?” It’s him again and his smirking face that makes me irritated.

“Not at all, I have no intention to run away.” I walk toward the carriage and went inside, I’m tired of talking to them. Family full of lunatics.

I rested my head on the side, I have trouble sleeping last night because of what happened. In just one night, everything in my life changes drastically.

Now that I know that everything is the reality, I suddenly feel so sleepy. I don’t know why but I’m more relaxed now, I gradually close my eyes and let the drowsiness pull me.

I heard the clip-clop of the horse's feet on the ground, I immediately open my eyes and I was shocked that the carriage is now moving to the south.

I look at the woman in front of me sitting comfortably while reading some papers, she looks serious doing it as if the words were written there is giving her some trouble.

“Why did you not wake me up?” My voice is hoarse, I feel my throat so dry.

“You look tired, there is a black circle under your eyes like you did not have enough sleep last night so how can I wake you up?” She explains and grabs the little kettle on her side and poured some tea into the small glass.

“Here, drink this to ease the dryness of your throat.” She’s not concerned, she just gives me some because of her manners.

“Thank you,” I accept the glass and sip the tea. I'm not into teas but this one has a good taste and aroma.

“Your mother looks depressed, but when I was going to wake you up, she stops me and said you guys already bid goodbye to each other. By that, did you hate her because they decided for allowing us to become your ally?”

“It’s not your business, you said that there is nothing important as long I stay to your side, is it? Mind your own business and don’t interfere with my problem.”

“I’m being considerate as your mate, I thought you need someone to talk about it but I think there is no need. I will not ask you then.” She continues reading while I give my whole attention outside.

North and south, are two different places with a different cultures. We, in the north with a simple way of living. Farming, fishing, with more trees than building. So different from the south where I can already see those extravagant houses and markets.

“So different,” I whisper.

Now, I am worried about how should I immediately adapt to this kind of living.

“You are right, we have so many differences. The place, the way of living, etc. But don’t you forget that we are both wolves so we still not different.” She put the paper on the side. “You are now my fiancé, so have confidence in yourself. You know how to fight and you are intelligent and that’s all you need to be accepted.”

I sneer, “Accepted or not, I don’t care. All I need to do is be your fiancé, stay by your side and keep my pack safe.”

She did not say anything after that, much better rather than we talk about how should I accept myself and the situation.

I still have no idea if she genuinely wants me as her fated mate or if there is more than that, a dominant omega who has everything in her hands will not simply accept some recessive Alpha as her mate without something she will gain.

I just hope that I will quickly know what is the reason before the marriage ceremony.

“I saw you last night talking to my step-brother, did he say something to you? In case you don’t know, we are not on good terms so better not tangled yourself with him in the future.” She said.

Is she trying to stop me to be close to him to ensure the marriage will continue as to how she planned?

“He did talk to me last night but there is something that I don’t like about him, but if there is reason to be close to him; I will,” I said. To be honest, I don’t think there is a possibility that I talk to him in the future but I say it to make this woman not confident that I will stay by her side no matter what happened.

“I will make sure that you will never talk to him in the future, there is no reason for you to be near to him at all. If you want a sense of peace in your life then just stay beside me and do nothing with them.”

“Now, now, are you trying to control me? Like how my parent decided what should I do and who I should marry?” I sarcastically ask her.

“No, I will never do that. I just want to protect you from them.”

“Then why did you even tangle me with this shit? If you haven’t approved the arranged marriage, then your step-brother won’t give any of his interest to me.” Why does she even try to look good, they are both crazy.

“Are you sure? Even if I did not approve of this arranged marriage as I said, your parent will accept another offer from the east or west. There is no certainty that your life will be quietly in peace if I rejected you. Just be thankful because I am your fated mate and not just omega.” She confidently said and shrugged.

How boastful!

“Yeah, right? Then thank you for accepting me as your fated mate.” I said emotionless.

I stretched my hand and breath numerous times as I see the arc of the south where the words ‘Welcome to the south pack of Lilith’ was written. We are already at the border, I did not even realize how long the travel from north to south.

I let my mind be occupied with my worries.

“We are here, Rayton. Welcome to our territory.” She smiled as the carriage finally stopped.
