[ Dominic ]

I felt an uneasy feeling settling in my chest. My wolf, Rex, was anxious, pacing and howling around in my mind.

I snapped at Cassandra when she called me. She wanted to tell me something but I said harsh words to her in my anger. Amelia had been crying and I couldn’t see her state after all she had endured in the last two years.

I promised to make her life better until she recovers and lives like before.

But Cassandra? I blamed her for not being capable of the Luna title but it wasn’t true. Although she was wolfless and it was the biggest drawback a person on the second highest rank could have, she made it her strength. For two years, she never gave me a reason to question her administrative capabilities.

She carried her duties effortlessly and with her, I had my workload shared.

She must have felt hurt.

I shook my head to get rid of those acrid thoughts. Why was I feeling this way?

With these thoughts wheeling continuously in my mind, I stood up to leave and talk to Cassandra.

“Dominic, please, stay here with me. I feel scared being alone. You know..how..they used to lock me up for days.” Amelia stopped me from leaving.

Her face morphed with fear. I understood her situation. Anyone in her place would feel the same.

“Amy, you are safe here. You have my word that no one will ever dare to lay a hand on you at my pack. Please, rest. I need to do some urgent work.” I assured her but she clung to my arm causing Rex to growl.

Why was he so agitated ever since I rescued her from the rogue’s pack.

“What if Cassie tries to hurt me again? She isn’t very happy to see me, Dom. She thinks I am after her Luna title but in fact, I only want to be close with you. What if she tries to kill me?” Amelia said with tears running down her eyes.

Kill her? Cassandra could be anything but a murderer.

“Cassadra won’t hurt you, Amy. I will appoint two guards here.” I said to make her believe that she was safe.

“But…”

She tried to speak but then I noticed her hand that she used to clutch my shirt to stop me from leaving. It looked fine and there were no burnt marks, no rashes. She looked fine.

“Amelia, your hand, it was hurt?” I asked and she looked down on her hand and quickly pulled it away.

“Yes..it still hurts.” She touched it.

I exhaled deeply and pinched the bridge of my nose.

“Tell me the truth, Amelia. Are you really hurt? Did you see Cassandra throwing the hot liquid on you?” I asked her in a stern tone.

Her pupils widened and lips quivered.

“I…I..I was so scared that I didn’t see it properly. I swear it was Cassie.” She was panicked.

“Amelia, please, tell the truth because I can have the surveillance footage checked because it involves my accountability as an Alpha. Cassandra was accused of hurting you.” I warned her.

It wasn’t the first time when Amelia did something like this to gain my attention but we weren’t young teenagers.

I was an alpha running the biggest pack in the region.

“Maybe I spilled it myself but I was so terrified. I love you so much, Dominic and when Cassandra threatened to send me to our parents’ house, I freaked out. I am sorry, Dom. I can apologize to her if you want.” She lowered her gaze.

“It’s not needed. Take a rest. I have to go now.” I said and rushed out of the hospital to see Cassandra.

In two years of our marriage, I had never doubted her and respected her, let alone raising my voice on her. But today I broke my own rule.

“Where is Luna?” I asked Dustin who was assembling papers in her office.

“Alpha, I fear I haven’t seen her since…” He hesitated to finish his sentence, “Since the incident with Miss Amelia.” He answered me with a bowed head.

I rubbed my temple.

Rex was nudging me to go and find her.

I looked around the pack house, checked every corner and even peeked in her room but she was nowhere to be seen.

“Where the hell are you, Cassandra?” I groaned in frustration. I never had this impatience before to see her.

Having no other option, I dialled her number but it was switched off.

I was pacing around the corridor while telling the guards to go and find her. She could be in her rose garden but then my gaze fell on two maids. They were taking a white gown which looked like a wedding gown towards my room.

“Where do you think you are going without my permission?” I used my alpha tone on them and walked towards them, “And what is it?” I pointed my finger at the wedding dress.

“Alpha, this is the wedding dress that Luna told us to take out and send for dry cleaning.” They stammered, their faces pale with fear.

“You mean Cassandra?” I furrowed my brows together.

“No, Alpha. We were ordered by our new Luna. She said your wedding will take place on the full moon and she wants to try it for the measurement.” They told me.

I was shocked and my fists clenched.

New Luna? They dared to break the rules and disrespect Cassandra's title in my presence.

“Take it back to the store room. Now!” I yelled at them.

As much as I loved Amelia, I still had to resolve many things and Cassandra was still my wife.

I had to find her as soon as possible.

The maids knew about the wedding means everyone was aware of the rumour which wasn’t true at all. I hoped it hadn’t reached her ears.

“Alpha, please, I think you need to see something. Please, come to your office.”

I heard Dustin’s tensed voice in my head and I headed straight to my office.

He was holding a folder, a grim look on his face.

“Why do you call me here, Dustin? I can’t find Cassandra, she’s acting like a kid.” I said in an annoyed tone.

“You need to see this, Alpha.” He said and I snatched the folder from his hand.

But my blood ran cold when I read the content and air knocked out of my lungs.

It was the divorce agreement with Cassandra’s signatures.

“She also left this with the folder.” Dustin gave me her wedding ring.

I felt my mind go numb.

She actually took this step.

“Go and find her! She hasn’t gone too far.” I yelled at Dustin.

No one will leave the pack until the next morning after the party and after six in the evening tomorrow, no will enter the pack.” Dustin said.“Good, I think our plan is also in motion. Lucian will be trapped. No matter what he has in his mind.” I nodded my head in satisfaction.“Your suit is ready and it will be delivered by four in the evening, Alpha.” He said and after a nervous pause, he added, “And also the gown you have commissioned for Dr. Miller.”“Thank you, Dustin. I don’t have to worry much because you know your duties well.” I felt quite light-hearted after the breakfast incident at my parents’ residence two days ago.“Alpha, may I ask why you ordered a dress for Dr. Miller? She doesn’t seem to like you very much and Ms. Croft, she won’t be much pleased if she learns that you gifted a dress for Dr. Miller.”I smiled at his query.“The annual Lunar festival isn’t some random party, Dustin

[ Cassandra ]“I don’t talk much because there’s no one who can truly understand this old woman. Only Cassandra had that kindness in her. I wish she comes back. I can’t see my grandson living a robotic life for the sake of his pack.” She continued.According to her, Dominic still misses me?It sounded foreign but she said it with certainty.“I hope she’s fine wherever she’s living.” I looked down at my folded hands.“Dr. Miller, can you please stay until the full moon? I insist because I have grown to like you as a friend who can listen to me.” She requested.I couldn’t dare to look into her eyes because I had no courage to say no to her.“Okay, I’ll stay for your birthday, Madam.” I forced a smile because it seemed the meeting had no meaning. She didn’t spill anything.“Maybe something good happen in these last days and you won’t be disappointed anymore.” She smiled widely.“I can be optimistic. Please, allow me to go now. I have to fresh up and go to the hospital. The medicine I hav

How is he doing?” She asked me, her tone held worry for the boy she never met.I fidgeted with my fingers. It was hard to talk about Cassius’ health. His pale, sick face flashed in my mind and it took me every ounce of self-control to hold back my tears.“I have been studying hard, went to many places and did countless trials to find a cure but the decease has no roots to discovered and verified decease in human world.” I told her the truth. If she knew about a cure then I have to crack her first. It was the only way to unlock the secret that she had been carrying for years.“So, you accepted my grandson’s request to treat Amelia because their symptoms are the same and you thought perhaps your answers lie in here?” She asked.I nodded my head affirmatively.“My son has been in immeasurable pain. [ Dominic ]I slammed my fists on the wall as soon as the door closed behind Dr. Miller. Her outburst and her resolution to leave my pack had left me speechless. She was adamant to leave the pack and it became very challenging for me to keep her close.I didn’t hate her as she thought but I was more curious now. Her outburst felt more defending. She was nervous. I could see clouds of panic in those hazel brown eyes. There was definitely a connection between her and Cassandra. The way she reacted fiercely, it solidified my doubts. She was protecting Cassius, the boy who always made me want to collect him in my arms. I felt his pain whenever I was close to him.I had only a few days to discover the truth. I strongly feel like she’s my wife. This kind of spark that I had been feeling around a human, her striking resemblance with Cassandra. It made sense to me.“Alpha, please, calm down.” Dustin barged inside when he heard the smashing sound.I broke the window glass to unleash my anger a

[ Cassandra ]“He isn’t yours, Alpha. How many times do I have to repeat this? Please, stop making our lives complicated.” I somehow gathered my wanning patience with him.His eyes were making it hard for me to stand on my grounds. There was firmness and the determination made me realize that the day isn’t far when he’d find out the truth.“Okay, then prove it to me. My wolf and I aren’t wrong every time he’s near me. Even Cassius feel the connection. Tell me, what should I call it?”“I don’t care what you think or assume, Alpha. My son has been without a father figure ever since he was born. Maybe he’s trying to find one in you. Please, spare him because a false hope will break his innocent heart.”Tears brimmed in my eyes. When I found out about my pregnancy, I never thought one day I had to lie to my baby’s father boldly. I had to do it with perfection but Dominic didn’t deserve to be his father. He stepped closer.“Then tell me who’s his father. I won’t go after him but if you wan

I could see his intense stare on me which made it even more hard for me to act normally.“You met Lucian in the evening.”So, it was about Lucian again. How did it not cross my mind before?“Yes, I met him today. It wasn’t a secret place.” I told him.“May I know the reason why you met the pack’s enemy? I told you to stay away from him, didn’t I, Doctor?” His tone reflected his anger but I was least bothered. The man had lost every right to feel this way.“I don’t think I have to report you about my day to day life events, Alpha. I am not conspiring against you. That’s all you need to know.” I kept my answer firm.He snorted and ran his fingers thorough his hairs. He always did it whenever he feels angry.“I know you aren’t but I don’t trust Lucian. He isn’t a friend. Why can’t you understand this simple thing?” He raised his voice a little. It was the end of my patience wi
