**Elena**
The silent whispers from the crowd was enough to humiliate me. I stared intently at Xavier, searching for something..anything, that would indicate it was all a joke. “It’s no secret that my wife, Helena, hides her face behind a mask, and I want it to stay that way”. Why did he have to mention the mask again?. I could feel sweat dripping down my temple. “There are certain things I do not wish to discuss in my marriage, so I made this choice”. He continued speaking, his voice echoing through the crowd. I wanted to speak up, to remove the mask and run into his arms, to tell him I was his Elena and that his words were hurting me. But I couldn’t. A lot was at stake at that moment. “As I mentioned earlier, I do not yet accept my wife Helena as my mate, so she is not my Luna. But that doesn’t mean she isn’t my wife.” What did he even mean by that? It’s either I’m your Luna, your mate, and your wife. Why is he separating them? Was this his plan all along? He had disappeared to avoid the ceremony just so he could achieve this. I knew Xavier had doubted everything from the beginning, but why humiliate me? “I’m your Luna, Alpha Xavier. You can’t just say I’m ‘just a wife.’ Why are you trying to embarrass us in public?” I said as I stepped closer to him. He scoffed. “If I needed a suggestion or any input from you, Helena, I would have discussed it privately. Do not try to cross me and act defiant.” He turned his gaze back to the crowd. “As the Alpha, I have the authority to make decisions that affect my relationship, as well as the future of this pack.” “The coronation will be held another time. For now, I do not accept her as my Luna.” “And please, there is no room for questioning my decisions. You all may now continue with the celebrations and enjoy yourselves.” And with that, he was out of sight. The flickering lights and sounds from the cameras seemed to mock me even more. I felt something forming at the back of my throat. I guessed my pup didn’t like the way his father treated me. I sensed Nick’s palm on my shoulder as he tried to guide me past the crowd. But instead, my stepmother pulled me from his embrace and led me into my room. I knew this act of kindness was merely an attempt to scold me. “What did you do, Elena?” she asked in the calmest tone. I stared at her, wondering if she was just pretending to be nice because of the people gathered at the door. She turned to the crowd. “Please, my daughter needs rest. Thank you for your concern, but please leave.” One by one, they filed out. “Did you use the scent?” she said, trying to sniff me as if she could actually perceive her daughter’s scent. “Can you stop?” I said, yanking her arms away from my body. “I told you before that deceiving Xavier won’t work, and now he’s gone as far as to embarrass me.” “It’s your fault you couldn’t charm him, Elena. I warned you. If anything goes wrong, it’s all on you. I don’t understand why you keep acting so foolishly and can’t do anything right.” “Oh, so now it’s my fault? Xavier isn’t dumb. I suppose it's also my fault Helena ran away.” “You know what? I think it’s better if I go out there and tell him the whole truth. Maybe he’ll forgive me. I can’t keep playing along with your lies, Mortina,” I shot back. “I’ve always known you were foolish. And the audacity you have to talk back to me! Do whatever you want. Just know that you and your father will regret it, and I’ll kill you before you drag me out.” She said, slamming the door behind her. I covered my mouth, trying to hold back whatever was coming as I sat in the restroom. “How long do I have to keep this up?” I whispered to myself while rubbing my belly. It seems my growing belly would reveal everything soon enough before I could get Xavier to be intimate with me. Unfortunately, getting close to him has become more difficult than I thought, as he just rejected me and wants nothing to do with me. But I can't just sit here and do nothing. I have no other option but to tell Xavier everything. I'll plead with him, and he'll have no other choice than to hear me out. I made my way to the third floor of the mansion where his room was located. Something twisted inside me, maybe fear, maybe desperation, but I couldn't turn back now. Xavier had clearly warned me to stay away from his room, but I couldn’t ignore the ache in my chest anymore. “Our mate’s in there!” Lira pleaded again, her voice echoing in my mind. I pushed the door open. His scent hit me first—warm, masculine, painfully familiar. The golden paint on the walls glowed faintly in the dim light. I had chosen that color, hoping we would be in here together after he chose me instead. But things don't go the way we plan. Maybe I just missed him too much. But my thoughts scattered when I heard his voice. “What are you doing here?” Stern. Cold. No softness left. I froze.. He switched on the light and I was able to see his face, but his expression was unreadable. “I’m not going to repeat myself.” His voice stern. “What are you doing in here?”.**Irene**I didn’t even get the chance to process my thoughts before the door flew open.My whole body jolted. For a second, it felt like my vision flashed before me.“You’re requested downstairs, My Lady,” one of the guards announced, his tone clipped and cold.My heart seized.I swung toward Kael, only to find someone else's face. The man behind me wasn’t Kael.“Surprise,” he sneered. The fuck.Liam.No. No, this couldn’t be happening.“What?” The word ripped from my throat, shaky and small.“Do not waste time,” Liam snapped, his eyes never softening. “You heard them.”“Your presence is required downstairs.” The guard repeated coldlyThe room tilted. Wh–what? Wait. I can…” My voice broke, useless. I couldn’t even string words together. The only thing playing on repeat inside my head, was one single, burning truth:“We’ve been caught.”The living room was a hell of stares and whispers. Faces everywhere. Guards lining the walls, maids and servants pressed against the far corners. An
**Elena**I shut Liam’s door behind me, still fixing my sleeve when a voice echoed through the hall.“And look who the devil rolled in?”I froze, my eyes snapping up to find Irene leaning against the wall like she had been waiting all along. Her grin was sharp, her arms crossed.Did she hear anything?Who cares anyway.“And why are you coming out of his room?” she continued.Still didn't answer her..And then..She gasped, hand flying to her mouth. “Wait, don’t tell me… you’re also sleeping with his brother?”My chest tightened and I wanted to slap that filth out of her mouth..Her eyes lit up. “You are, ain’t you?” She pushed off the wall, coming closer.I folded my arms, refusing to flinch. “I don’t have time for your nonsense this afternoon, Irene. Or did you already forget what happened the last time?”She smirked. “Don’t think you can change the subject. And you're lucky your stupid guard was able to save your little ass”“I’m not changing anything, sweetheart.” I fired. “Mind y
**Xavier**“You asked to see me, Your Majesty?” she bowed her head.I glanced at her, just a quick look, then back at the window. City lights blinked, but it still didn't make me feel at ease.“I haven’t really spoken since the incident. And I should…you were close to my wife,” I said. She smoothed her apron with nervous fingers. “There isn’t much to say, Your Majesty.” “So what's this rumour I hear about?” I pressed on.She didn’t answer.“I left you that job because she trusted you,” I said quieter. “Her things stayed as she left them. That was all I asked.”I still don't understand why she doesn't want to clean the room anymore. She flinched. “Can I be honest?” she blurted, like she’d been holding it in too long.I signaled the guards to wait outside. The door clicked shut. “Go on,” my voice flat.“It’s like…” she started, then stopped. Her hands tightened. “I don’t think she’s coming back,” she spoke, sharp.I felt something twist. I’ve paid men, sent messages, put up alerts.
**Elena**I.. couldn't resist any longer.. And..I crushed my lips on his, fingers digging into his collar like I owned him.He let out a sharp breath, lips pouting in surprise…then he kissed me back, our heads tilting, mouths clashing, the sounds we made sending sparks crawling over my skin, hair standing on end.I pulled him closer, tongue teasing and roaming. And before I even thought, I straddled his lap, legs on either side, him right there between me. My gown rode up, his palm hot against my thigh.I shoved harder into him, deepening the kiss. He growled, one hand sliding my gown further up, the other pressed to my waist like he was afraid I’d vanish if he didn’t hold me tight. My hands tangled in his hair, dragged down his neck, lips grazing the side of it, tongue brushing over sensitive spots. His growl was low, rough, vibrating..I shivered, pressed closer…and yanked his buttons open, my hips still rocking and grinding against him.He pulled my hair back as if it was in th
**Elena**“Hey… you got here first,” I whispered to him, brushing my fingers lightly over his shoulder. He turned his head and gave me that small smile of his…the kind that always looked calm but carried a weight I couldn’t quite name. With gentle hands, he tugged me closer, guiding me to sit beside him.“Isn’t the sky beautiful tonight, Ena?” he murmured as he leaned back, lying flat on the spread-out cloth on the porch.I followed his gaze upward. The stars blinked like scattered diamonds across the dark velvet.“It is,” I breathed. Then my brows knitted. But… why out here? I thought tonight was supposed to be… different. But I didn't say that out loud. “So… you love stargazing or…?” I asked, searching his face. That was when he finally turned. His eyes caught mine, holding me in place.“We used to come here together,” he said softly, his hand sliding down to find mine. His fingers tightened around my palm, warm and steady. We?“Me, Liam… and Joy,” he continued.Oh. My throa
**Elena**I have to figure out what this whole thing means..But how?“Hi there again…”A female voice distracted my thoughts.I turned. Joy.I didn't expect her to come here or even try to talk to me.“Hey,” I said, shifting slightly so she could lean against the railing beside me.She gave a weird, nervous laugh. “I can see you don’t really like me.”I blinked, caught off guard. Don’t like her? Why would she think that? I forced a small smile. “No… no. That’s not the case. I’m just… not used to talking to people here.”She nodded slowly. “I know. I heard about the accident. I’m really sorry… it must be hard, not to…uh…recur anything.” Her words stumbled out, almost apologetic.I shrugged lightly, letting my gaze drift to the balcony lights below. “No, it’s fine. I’m used to it. And the doctors said it’s only temporary.”Her eyes softened. “Same thing they said to me… until I drifted back into a coma.” She laughed, light, like it was nothing serious.Coma. My stomach twisted. She…
