Chapter 12

ROSEANNA'S (P.O.V)

My year has just ended, but my heart is broken. Everyone welcomes the new year joyfully and peacefully, except for me. I did not enjoy the new year and did not greet it with open arms.

I was lying peacefully on the Bermuda grass of the garden.

"Zoey, are you having lunch? Let's go," Sam said.

"No, thank you; Sam, you can eat without me," I said, closing my eyes. I could feel her footsteps approaching me.

"It's better to show us that you're not fine, that you're hurting than to hide it," she said as she lay beside me. I looked at her with my eyes open. "Because that way, people close to you will know how to comfort you," she added.

"Showing people your pain is a sign of weakness Sam, and I am strong enough to keep it to myself," I said as I stared at the sky. At the moment, the sky is a work of art, but one tiny little cloud is slowly blending in with the others with its dark color.

"Just look at the sky; it is so beautiful and wonderful that people would like to lie
