My doll, the one with the missing eye and frayed dress, lay forgotten beside me. Something was wrong. The front door creaked open. My head snapped up just as a man stepped inside. He was a familiar face one of my father’s visitors, always with a friendly smile. But today, there was no smile. No warmth. Just the heavy thud of his boots as he walked toward me.A strange chill curled down my spine.“Where’s my father?” My voice was small, nearly lost in the thick silence stretching between us.The man crouched in front of me. His fingers brushed against my hair, gentle yet unsettling.“Selena…” His voice wavered, thick with something I couldn’t name.I swallowed hard. “Where is he?”A deep sigh escaped him before he finally met my gaze. “Your father is watching over you from above.”The room tilted.No.I had heard those words before. She’s watching over us from above,

Their eyes glowed faintly gold, the telltale shimmer of wolves barely restrained. Desmond’s jaw ticked. Stephen’s nostrils flared as if he were sniffing for blood. Then Stephen’s hand slid lower, fingers curling around my waist. His claws, no longer fully retracted, punctured the fabric of my shirt and began digging into my skin. The sting made me gasp.“Stop.” I pressed my hands against his chest. “You’re losing control.”But his gaze had already shifted no longer human. They were golden and wild, filled with something primal. Something terrifying.I could feel his wolf was close. Too close.Pain flared in my side as his claws went deeper, and panic surged through me like ice water. I could see it unfolding already two powerful shifters clashing in the middle of camp. Blood. Teeth. Fury. And me, c
