Roxy

The ride home was completely silent.

I hadn’t called for a car. Someone had sent one anyway, and David sat behind the wheel as if this were any other morning.

He didn’t ask where I had spent the night, which meant he already knew. And if David knew, everyone in the house probably knew by now.

I leaned my head against the cool glass of the window, trying to piece the night back together. The glass of juice. The waiter. A furious voice in the hallway. Strong arms lifting me. A bed.

Roxy“You’re drunk,” he said, standing up from the edge of the mattress. “You should rest.”“No.” My fingers surged forward, clutching his clothes. “Don’t go.”“You’re drunk, Roxy.”“I am not. I know exactly who you are.” A sudden heat hit my cheeks.“Then you should be very careful with me, Roxy.”A sensible person would have backed away. Instead, his voice carried a challenge meant to be taken.“Is that a threat?” I asked, meeting his eyes.“It’s a warning, Roxy.”“About what?”His gaze dropped to my lips before rising back to mine.I couldn’t lie to myself any longer. I had thought about that kiss we once shared, constantly wondering what it would feel like to have his mouth on mine again.“I told you to be careful with me,” he growled. His hand wrapped around my waist, dragging me flush against his body. His mouth slammed onto mine. I yielded completely, my arms sliding up as his fingers dug into my waist, cupping my breast through the fabric and pulling a low moan from my throat.

Roxy“You mean Evander is the one behind what happened to you?” Anna asked in shock.I nodded, settling back against the sofa.“I told you.” She gripped my arms. “That guy is bad news, but you wouldn’t listen.”“I still don’t know what he hoped to gain from doing that.”“The shares, of course. Your stepfather favours you, and Evander is afraid you’ll inherit everything.”“He’s a fool if he thinks I want his inheritance,” I whispered. “Now that my memories are back, I’ll make him pay for what he did.”“What are you planning to do to him?”“Since he’s afraid I’ll take his inheritance, I might as well give him something to worry about.”“Roxy...” Anna slowly released my arms. “You sound so cold. Even your expression has changed.”“Do you hate the new me?”“No.” A smile touched her lips. “Actually, I love that you’re no longer a pushover.”“Good. Because I’m done being kind to people who mistake it for weakness.”She laughed. “Remember when I tried to warn you about Evander? You thought I

DorianThe moment I entered my bedroom, I called Alex.“Take Clara out of the place where we’ve been keeping her and admit her to our family hospital. Roxy will visit her tomorrow, and I won’t have her discovering that I locked her mother in a psychiatric facility. Get it done before morning.”“Yes, sir.”I ended the call and loosened my tie.Why had Roxy suddenly decided to visit her mother when I had explicitly told her that Clara needed rest and that no family member was allowed to see her?Someone had put the idea in her head.My thoughts shifted to Evander, but I dismissed him almost immediately. The hostility between him and Roxy was genuine. Whatever had happened between them, neither seemed willing to let the other off easily.Mary, on the other hand, was a different matter.Could she have been foolish enough to interfere in Roxy’s affairs? Her assignment was to watch Clara, not Roxy. I knew exactly who had planted her in my mansion.Celeste.That bitter woman had never accept

RoxyA knock interrupted the video.“Come in.”Mary entered with a tray of light breakfast. She placed it on the table and gestured toward the food.“You should eat, young miss.”I put my phone aside and sat down to eat. Mary remained beside me, watching me with the kind of concern I had grown accustomed to seeing on her face.“Have you settled things with the young master?” she asked.“No, he refuses to speak to me.”“If I were in his position, I’d be hurt too.”My spoon stopped halfway to my mouth. Something about her words bothered me.Why was she so eager to defend Evander while repeatedly warning me against Dorian? Why did every conversation with her leave me questioning the man who had taken care of me?I had heard her insist before that servants shouldn’t gossip about their masters. Yet she had no trouble discussing Dorian’s character whenever we were alone. Was she deliberately trying to influence me? And if she was, who had instructed her to do it?I set my spoon down.“Mary,

RoxyEvander refused to give me a chance to explain myself. Mary, meanwhile, kept insisting that I had done nothing wrong, but I needed to gain Evander’s trust back.I woke up early, bathed, and dressed. Then I waited outside my room for Evander. A few minutes later, his door opened. He stepped out in a tailored suit, looking every bit the heir to the Sinclair empire. Since his return, he had started accompanying Dorian to the company, while I kept insisting that I needed more time to recover before joining them.“Good morning,” I greeted him, but he walked past me. I caught the hem of his suit, forcing him to stop.“I’ll give you the shares back.”He turned, his expression hardening. “Do you think I’m avoiding you because of the shares?”“No.”“Then why are you doing this to me, Roxy?”His question struck deeper than I expected. “I’m sorry,” I whispered, lowering my gaze. “I shouldn’t have accused you.”“Then why are you offering me the shares?”“Because I promised to give them back

RoxyThe dining room was cold and quiet the following morning. Evander sat across from me, his face closed. Whatever warmth he had shown me the previous day was gone.Dorian finished his breakfast before turning to me.“How are you feeling today, Roxy?”“Much better, Dad.”“Good. Make sure you get enough rest. You’ll be coming to the company soon.”He shifted his attention to Evander.“You should prepare yourself as well.”“Yes, Dad.”Dorian rose from his chair and adjusted his jacket.“I’ll be leaving now.”He walked out without another word. Since Evander’s return, he no longer visited my room or lingered around me as he used to. The man who had once made time for me now kept his distance, and I did not know why. After breakfast, I followed Evander upstairs.“Evander, we need to talk.”He stopped outside his room but didn’t turn around.“I have nothing to say to you, Roxy.”“Please. I said I was sorry.”“I know.” He opened his door. “That doesn’t change anything.”He stepped inside
