CAMILE
I had no idea how much time had passed, but Vance and I sat in his study, each lost in our own thoughts.
Vance had sent Brandon to investigate, and I was not willing to leave till I got the result of the investigation.
If Trevor sent that symbol to me, then it just meant that the spy in this pack was someone that held a high rank in Trevor's army.
It wasn't something like Gretchen, who could be abandoned once she was no longer useful.
Finally, Brandon arrived, a bitter look on his face. He glanced at me, for only a split second, before he started reporting to Vance.
Brandon whispered something to him, and I rolled my eyes.
After everything that I had done and was still doing, these people were still guarded against me.
Did I need to give my life for them to know that I was serious about helping them fight Trevor?
Vance nodded his head at Brandon, and then he looked at me.
"Brandon says that one of the guards was seen meeting with someone by the river. However, this isn't enough proof, is it? He could say that it was his family member. If I just start picking people and interrogating them, the rest of the pack is going to see me as a crazy and unhinged alpha. We can't have the pack turning against me now!" Vance said.
What he said made a lot of sense, but there were other ways to catch the spy.
In fact, there was a foolproof way that worked all the time.
I smiled coldly, "if we don't have evidence, then we will just have to catch him in the act, won't we?" I asked.
"What do you want?" Brandon asked, raising an eyebrow at me.
Although he still didn't trust me fully, he was no longer snapping at me , and that was a needed relief.
I smiled, and without a word, I picked up a pen and paper and drew up a map in a few minutes.
Vance peeked over at it, and he looked even more confused.
"How is this going to help us?" He asked me.
"This is a fake map of the castle's vulnerable points. If we "lose" this by accident, and it falls into the hands of Trevor's spy...well, that is all the evidence we need, right?" I asked.
Brandon and Vance looked at each other, smiles on their faces.
"Yes ..." Vance didn't complete his words; he didn't have to.
I picked up the map that I drew and started to walk out.
Remembering something, I stopped at the door.
"I don't know how else to convince you that I really want to help you take down Trevor once and for all, but I know for sure we are not going to get anywhere if you keep doubting me!" I said.
....
The next day when I woke up, Brandon was the first person who came to see me.
The excited smile he had on his face told me that the plan had worked well.
"Has the traitor been caught?" I asked.
Brandon nodded his head, still smiling.
"Yes. Last night, there was an ambush in the vulnerable part of the castle that you had marked out. A few men had attacked, and we were only able to catch one person alive. It turns out that it was the leader of one of the teams who patrolled the castle," Brandon explained to me.
I nodded my head; it was no longer surprising how Trevor's men had been able to come and go in the castle like it was nothing.
It wasn't just a maid; he had other important people feeding him information.
The fact that the schemes were so intricate meant that Trevor had been planning this for the longest time.
He didn't even let me know about it... did they mean that he had planned for me to be brought here from the start?!
I shuddered just thinking about it. It was really crazy... Trevor was crazy if he could come up with all of this in a short amount of time.
"Are you okay?" I heard Brandon asked me.
His voice snapped me back to the present, and I nodded my head.
"Yeah ...let's go see him. He's in the dungeon, right?" I said.
.....
The traitor was a sorry mess by the time I got there.
I had to admit... Vance was not any less cruel than I had expected.
The man had obviously been tortured so bad that his life was hanging by a thread.
They had tortured him so much that he was hanging on the thin line between life and death.
"Trevor is really calculating...he even got you guys in here a long time ago ....Tell me, your Alpha is a really calculating man...so why did you give yourself away so easily?" I asked.
If they had stayed here for so long without getting caught, it didn't make any sense to me that they would give themselves away so easily.
And as for sending Trevor's symbol to me, I was seriously starting to doubt that Trevor was the one behind that.
He had recently sent me a letter, so why would he see the need to do even more?
It did not make sense to me.
A guard hit the traitor once again, and he coughed up blood.
"I...I thought that you were defecting again! I just wanted to remind you of where your loyalties are supposed to lie, Camile! The Alpha has done so much for you! How could you just...how could you just turn your back on him?!" The traitor yelled as he looked at me with an accusing gaze.
I was shocked to hear this. I was defecting....did Trevor's people...think Trevor sent me here as a spy too?!
"What...I'm...I'm defecting?" I asked, trying to make sense of all of this.
"Just like last time...when he sent you here...and you lost your mind...turning against the pack, you are doing it again! You need to come to your senses!”
VANCEI kicked the man in the stomach and he rolled over on the ground, in pain. Before he could escape, I placed my feet on his chest, and I took the list from him. "Give it to me! You're not qualified to touch that!" The man screamed at me. I signalled at one of the guards with me and he promptly held down the man. "Is it that Trevor is unafraid of death? You are all unafraid of death? He actually sent you, a scout, to our border, to check what we are up to?" I asked the man , a sneer on my face. He was one of Trevor's scouts that we had caught near our border, and this time, I was able to catch him before he killed himself. "Hmph! Do you think you are impressive just because you caught me?" He sneered at me. I scoffed, not wanting to waste my time on him. The only reason he was still alive and running his mouth was because of the list I had on him. "What list is this?" I asked the man, as I opened it. "It's a list of all of the people who deserve to die! The people who hav
CAMILE My eyes snapped open at once, and it was like they had never been closed in the first place. I looked around me, and I instantly realized that I was not in the bedroom that I had grown used to over the last couple of weeks. However, I was still in the castle; the lush gardens just outside the window reminded me of that. "You are awake," I heard, and turned sharply. A smiling old man dressed in white was looking at me, a knowing look on his face. Judging by how I had passed out, I had a good guess who this person was. "You are the healer?" I asked him. The healer nodded his head, and he took my hand. "Your pulse is normal," he noted. However, just then, I felt a sharp pain in my head, and the same voice that I had heard before I had passed out sounded in my head again. "It's not just you anymore," I was even more bewildered. What did this mean?"Your pulse is fine, however, your body has been restless ever since you passed out," the healer said, still holding on to my
VANCECamile had a shocked look on her face as we walked out of the dungeon, and I felt hesitant to ask her what was going on The traitor had accused her of defecting and being crazy ...and I really could not understand what those words meant. It didn't make much sense to me at all. "Camile ...what was the meaning of that?" Finally, Brandon was the one who asked the question I had on my mind. Camile turned to me, a pale look on her face. She seemed really worried about something, and this was the first time I had seen her like this ever since all of this started. Camile always seemed to be so in control of her emotions, thinking before acting, but this time, she seemed pretty shaken by what the traitor had said. "Camile?" I called her name. ."Trevor....he is spreading lies about me ...no, he has been spreading lies about me ....ever since you kidnapped me years ago...." Camile said, shaking her head. I hung my head in shame when she brought up how I kidnapped her years ago. I

CAMILE Brandon was waiting for me as soon as I walked out of the training grounds; there was a cold look on his face as he peeked into the room. Brandon looked back at me a few seconds later, a new appreciation in his eyes, and I smiled. I was sure that, just like everyone else, he thought that I wouldn't be able to handle those men. "What? Did you think that they were going to overpower me?" I asked him, a smile on my face. "Those men have a strong sense of pride. They definitely wouldn't have liked listening to a woman from a rival pack....how did you do it?" Brandon asked me, a hint of suspicion in his tone. I shook my head, realizing that no matter what I did, his guard would always be up around me. "It's no big deal; I just let them see what's important. Besides, I have been dealing with tough men like them for a long time. They definitely wouldn't be able to overpower me," I said Brandon gave it up when he saw that he was not going to get anything out of me. "The Alpha
CAMILE. "What? Are we expected to accept it just because the alpha said so?" One of the elders raged. "Yes, we still don't trust this woman. No matter what, we can't leave the survival of our pack up to her. I am personally not going to stand for it!" Another voice added. I was starting to get a headache. Did these old men really have to be so difficult? What was the point of making things hard on themselves and everyone else? "I don't..... I don't think it's such a bad idea to have her do this....Camile recently found a spy that is working for Trevor. It's a maid who has been in the castle for a long time. If it wasn't for her...well, we don't know how long we'd have let her be without knowing who she was," one of the guards spoke up. "Yes...last night when she asked me to go after the intruder...I was shocked at first, but then I realized that there was indeed an intruder in the castle ...how many times has someone sneaked into the castle without us knowing about it? We need to
