His arms suddenly wrapped around me and I froze, not knowing how to feel.

"You're breathing really hard. I think you're having a panic attack. Just take a deep breath."

I wanted to scream. To tell hit that he was the one choking me.

To tell him to move miles away from me.

But I took a deep breath.

It killed me to admit that his arms around me just felt so right.

"I-I need to t-try to call the s-security," I stumbled over my words, pulling myself out of his grip.

The last thing I wanted was to f

KARA'S POV "Madam, please, calm down. We're very sorry about the arrangement. It must have been a slipup on our end and I assure you I will do all I can within my power to rectify it if it's possible —"The word entered into my ear like irritatingly, "What do you mean if it's possible? They put me in the same room with a stranger. Do you know how silly that sounds?"Lola shifted on her feet after repeatedly trying to pacify me, but it was pointless.I'd much rather sleep on the street than spend one night with Ashton Hall in the same room."How did this even happen?" Tiredness weighed my voice down. I had barely gotten any sleep after Lola told me of the tragic arrangement. The hotel manager, who had been speaking with us for close to thirty minutes now sighed, tired as well."I promise you, I don't understand myself. I remember the manager of your project specifically asked for two rooms."Weird. "Can I get an

As I watched the woman who had possessed my mind for the past weeks strut out of the restaurant with that jerk, a bone ticked in my jaw.I couldn’t let her be with him. Those dangerous flames still danced in his eyes; I could see them clearly. The urge to break something came rushing like a storm. Dylan was bad news. He had gotten away from me once, five years ago… That memory was once I liked to reserve as fuel for the perfect occasion, painful as it was.“Baby, our meal is getting cold.” Erica’s whiny voice pulled me back to the present, but I forced a smile. This, whatever game it was that my mother was playing, couldn’t happen. We had tried this seven years ago and broken up not long after.I just fathom how she could be so cruel to her sister and spread the tape of us to the entire school, ruining her sister’s life. Yes, I traced it back to her.To make it worse, her sister, Sophia, had disappeared without a trace befor

One deep breath to regain my composure. A practiced smile not to drop any hint. I slowly turned to face the smiling, handsome demon who stood behind us, looking like he owned the place. “Ashton Hall,” Dylan stated coolly, but I could sense the edge in it. His arm snaked around my waist as he drew closer. His eyes had a coldness in them towards Ashton that told me something more was at play between the two guys. Something I just might want to know later on. “Stewart, fancy seeing you here. I’m shocked by your taste in restaurants and…” He trailed off, locking his eyes back on me. “Good things generally. Quite exquisite, I must say.” I felt flame rise to my cheek, but much more than that, anger burned in my chest. Was he referring to me as a thing? “Mr. Hall,” I cut in, smiling sweetly even though the smile didn’t quite reach my eyes. “Is it really a surprise to see you here?” If he was surprised by my tone or amused, I couldn’t tell. He cocked his head to the side, a small smirk

"Nate's game has been moved till next week. They said they had an urgent matter to attend to."A small sigh of relief escaped my lips as I stroked Nate's beautiful hair with the soft brush. Great.I should be done with the stupid shoots with Ashton by then and nothing would interrupt me from attending. But still, I paused. "What's this urgent matter they need to attend? I mean, it should be brought to the notice of the parents if it's that urgent."Lola shrugged. "They didn't elaborate."I bit my lip. "Reply to their mail and find out what the reason is."She nodded."Lola, are all my essentials packed for this trip, please?""You bet. There's nothing missing. The next three days should go without a hitch if everything goes as planned."I sighed deeply as I thought about Nate again. The very fact that I had to travel halfway across the country for a silly shoot and leave him made my h

Kara ReedThe next three days were a blur for me, but I made sure that I wasn't separated from Nate. There had been no incident from his school but that didn't mean that I was going to let the events of the past few days slide past again. As I say in the boardroom, listening to my software designers show me a prototype of the software for the hotel lobby, I frowned."The animations and graphics are still placeholders, but the functionality is complete—""That's not good enough," I interjected, my irritation growing.Maybe it was because Ashton was dropping by this afternoon again to 'check our progress'... Or maybe it was simply from the stress of trying my best to finish the job as fast as possible and stop seeing Ashton.I just wasn't feeling in a great mood."Rework the interface for the admins. Also, I need a design that's aesthetic, yet functional. Your model also has a lot of security risks; we d

Now, I was vulnerable."Let me call my driver. I still have a signal."I held on to the railing, standing inches away from him.All I wanted was to get out of this elevator and away from Ashton Hall before he became the death of me.He made a call for a moment while I shrank to a corner of the elevator, fanning myself, wishing I could disappear. My body and hormones wer

KARA It was getting late. Everyone had left the office, yet I was there, working tirelessly on a design for the system. The project had gone through prior necessary phases and now we were at the designing stage. I had people who could do the design, but I wanted nothing but perfection. That was

Kara's POVI sat on my bed with Nate cradled in my arms, fast asleep. My mind had left the emotional, sad state it had been. Now, it was in a strategic mode. The memories of my encounter at Nate's school played in my mind over and over again like a broken record.Flashback.I had barely stepped int

I reeled backwards in shock."I don't understand. This wasn't stated in the contract."Mr. Jonathan shook his head, his face masking into one of confusion."It was clearly stated, miss Reed. Clause 14b."That clause rang in my head like a bell. This was what Eric meant! He probably had a foresight

Ashton Hall! Again! And in my office?! I held my phone to my ears, still staring at him in shock. "Can you direct me to the boardroom, please?" I stared at the smug expression on his face, wanting to punch it off. Beside him, a pretty lady chewing not-so-subtly on a bubblegum and holding some
