Chapter 3

Evangeline's POV

It is time for me to leave the pack for good. But, as I was about to step my feet away, someone screamed at the back.

“Evangeline!”

I froze, my hands clenched in anger. The one mentioned my name was Adeline, my sister.

“Can't you see, Adeline? I'm leaving and you won.”

Adeline laughed as she kept on walking into my direction. At this point, I decided to face her, wanting to hear her last words.

Her innocent-looking face in front of Drake earlier was gone. It was replaced now with anger, insecurity, and eagerness. Her eagerness to slay me, to get rid of me. 

“I can't understand the reason Drake still wanted to let you escape. You threatened his life, and if we let you live, I know you will kill the man I loved the most!” Adeline uttered.

I furrowed my brows from what she told me about and when I realized what she said, I couldn't stop laughing. 

“Really, Adeline? Do you really think I can do that to him? If I wanted to kill Drake, I already did when I caught him with you!”

She crossed her arms, her lips curled into a smirk. Seeing that, I don't know if Adeline was still my sister. I have no idea where she took the courage to betray me after I worked hard to raise her.

“If you treated me to be your sister and your only family, just let me go, Evan. Don't come back anymore and claim what's rightfully yours. I loved him. Drake loved me. Can't you just be happy for us?”

My teeth gritted in anger. I ran into her direction, grabbing her arm.

“Be happy for you? Have you ever thought about what I felt? I would have accepted it if my husband had cheated on a different woman, but you…” I paused, taking a deep breath. “You are my sister. We're related by blood, Adeline! How could you do that to me!?”

“Because I hate you, Evan. You took everything from me. The spotlight, dad, and then Drake. I was forgotten because of you. Now, tell me if my reaction is not valid!”

“Damn it, Adeline! You know that our father loves you. I did love you. Is that what you're going to pay me for being your parent when mom and dad died?”

Tears started streaming down through my eyes. My sister's betrayal against me is just so painful to bear. I wasn't expecting her to hurt me like that.

“Whatever you do, everything is done, Evan. Drake is mine and I will do everything to get rid of you…”

As she mentioned these words, Adeline suddenly scratched her face with her sharp nails. My eyes widened from what she did, unable to react.

“Ouch! Help! Somebody, help me!” Adeline shouted.

“F*ck! What the hell are you doing?” I asked, my tone started to panic. 

“Evangeline wanted to kill me!”

When she mentioned these words, that was the moment I let go of her hand. I stepped back, and then I found Drake rushing to where we were.

“What's happening here?” Drake wondered. “Adeline! Who did that to you?!”

“D-Drake…” Adeline ran into his direction, while crying. “Evan wanted to kill me. She did this to me, Drake!”

As I heard these words from her, I kept shaking my head. I just realized what Adeline has been planning about. She wanted to set me up, and it works. 

Alpha Drake was looking at me with his dark expression. 

“Kill her!” Drake uttered towards the warriors. 

“No, Drake. I never did that to her, and—”

I didn't continue my words because I realized that no one will believe me now. I just tilted my head, looking at them through my dark expression. 

“This is not yet over. I will make sure both of you will pay for hurting me. And you, Drake. You will be nothing without me. The pack will be weakened, losing one of you great warriors, and that is one mistake you will regret for the rest of your lives.”

And after saying that, I immediately transformed into my wolf form to leave the pack, for good. I never let them be able to talk because I don't care anymore.

The pain I received was enough. I don't want to suffer. Leaving the place I once called home is the hardest part, but if I stayed there, I know my heart will be unable to heal.

It's better to move, or they will have more chances to keep hurting me. But like I said, it's not over yet. I just need to heal from the pain and when that happens, I will get back to them. 

For now, I need to find a place where I know my plan will be pursued. And I know one place where I can stay with. It's in my uncle's pack. The one uncle I used to play with when I was still young and now, I am on my way to him.

It's already dark when I reached the pack. My legs hurt from running nonstop, but I never stopped. Just when I reached his cabin, I fell on the floor.

The bang of my body on the floor just captured my uncle's attention, so he went out from his cabin and was stunned to see me, feeling so exhausted. 

“Evangeline? Is that you?”

Uncle Raven, which is a beta of the pack, was my father's brother.

“U-Uncle…” I stammered, feeling so exhausted from a long run to escape the warriors who are chasing for me.

“Evangeline! It's really you. What happened? Why are you running?”

Uncle Raven helped me get into his cabin and that was the moment I couldn't control myself to cry. I couldn't hide the pain I was keeping earlier when I dealt with those traitors.

“D-Drake and Adeline…” I bit my lower lips, trying to stop my tears from streaming down. “They are having an affair and I caught them, Uncle.”

“Damn! I was right with that asshole. He's just using you. And your sister? What did she eat to do that to you?”

I shook my head, unaware of Adeline's reason for hurting me. And it's not my priority as of now. I don't care anymore about her reasons. The fact that Drake and Adeline betrayed me was enough reason for me to make them pay.

I did nothing wrong to both of them. I know I don't and they should pay for it. 

And Drake? 

I swear, he will regret breaking my heart into pieces because I will make him realize his mistake.
