Chapter 4

Mackenzie's POV

"We're here." Announced Pierce as we parked at a medium sized, grey double story home.

The grass was a healthy, minty green that I had never seen in real life due to the dry soil I had growing up. There was a fully grown, green tree at the side providing a bit of cool shade and a verander at the door.

The garage was connected to the house, which I admit, I liked. Overall, it was a nice looking home, nothing extravagant or overwhelming.  It was more on the homely, kind of quaint side with a calm and peaceful feel.

"Darling, are you coming?" He asked, bringing me out of my wandering and to him. He stood there with a small smile and his hand outstretched, whereas Serenity was grinning in happiness next to him.

"Come, Mommy." She excitedly called.

"Okay okay, I'm coming." I chuckled in amusement as I took his offered hand and got out of the car.

He closed the door behind me before placing his hand on the small of my back. He took Serenity's small hand into his much bigger one, then led us towards the door. The door suddenly opened to an excitedly smiling Milan.

He was literally excitedly bouncing at the porch.

"I think someone is excited." Chuckled Pierce in amusement.

"Yeah, I agree." I chuckled.

"Mommy, Mr. Pierce. Can I go to, Milan?" Asked Serenity with so much excitement it warmed my heart.

"Sure." I smiled at her.

"Of course, Pumpkin. But please just call me, Pierce?" He pouted at her.

She giggled but nodded before running to Milan. He didn't hesitate to open his arms for her to jump into, which she did.

"Take care of her, Milan." Said Pierce in clear amusement from next to me.

"I will, Dad." He threw behind him  before greeting me, "Hi, Miss." Before disappearing back into the house.

Pierce chuckled as he led me inside the house. He let me walk in first before following behind me and closing the door behind him.

"Those two have grown so close that you'd think they met months ago." Pierce said as he led me to a navy blue curtain that seemed to be covering a large window.

"I know, right?" I said in a bit of disbelief.

He removed his hand from my back and moved the curtain out of the way, exposing glass french doors that led to a spacious grassy backyard. He opened the doors before leading me outside. He led me a couple of feet away from the doors before coming to a halt and facing me.

"Okay, please don't freak out?" He asked as he placed his hands at the hem of his plain white top and slipped it off. I nearly gasped at the well defined 8 pack that adorned his chest and his well toned upper body. My hands were itching for a quick feel, but I'm stronger than that so I refrained.

He then went to his jeans, making me gape at him.

"Pants too?" I asked.

"Yes, I'd like to keep these jeans. I find that I like them very much." He said as he unbuttoned them, making me turn around in embarrassment as well as to give him privacy.

"You can turn around now." He said, his voice laced with amusement.

"You're not completely naked are you?" I asked.

"No," He laughed, "I'm not."

With a pout I turned to face him. He was standing in all his muscular glory, but luckily had his boxers on.

"Please don't freak out?" He begged once more.

I sighed and looked at him expectantly.

He let out a breath before fur started sprouting out of him. His bones started snapping, making me wince at the sound and how painful it sounded as he started to grow in size and before I knew it, a caramel brown wolf with sapphire blue eyes stood in front of me.

"Oh my..." I meekly said, as dizziness struck me hard before everything started becoming blurry. He turned back to human just as everything turned black and I lost consciousness.

•••••

A splitting pain in my head had me groaning as I tried to open my eyes. It felt like someone had pulled a Rapunzel on me and bashed me with a very heavy pan.

I could feel that I was on a soft surface which I assume is a bed from its soft surface and from the space. I slowly opened my eyes, making the headache worse, but with it came a marathon of memories. Some of them had my stomach churning with emotion as I jerked up. I was instantly hit by a sharp pain in my head and gut wrenching nausea.

"Whoa," Pierce's voice filled my ears before I caught sight of him as he walked into the room followed by Milan and Serenity. "Please take it easy. It's okay." He coaxed.

"Was that a dream?" I softly asked for reassurance. My mind felt very dazed and I'm afraid that at this point, there was a thin line between my sanity and my insanity.

"No, It wasn't, but you handled it better than I expected." He softly smiled.

"How was passing out better?" I quietly asked in order to not make my nausea, headache and dizziness worse.

"You didn't scream. That would have really hurt." He cringed.

"Oh, atleast." I weakly said.

"I brought you some painkillers and water." He said, pointing to the medicine next to me.

"Thanks." I said as the dizziness luckily decreased, with the nausea. I took the two painkillers and popped them in my mouth, flushing them down with the water.

"So, I have some explaining to do, don't I?" He asked.

"Yes." I answered as I leaned even further into the comfy pillow. It smelled just like Pierce.

He spent the next hour telling me all about werewolves, soulmates and his mate. He explained his position as a warrior and it was interesting. The only scary part was their first shift. Pierce says that it's the most excruciatingly painful one and it happens between one month to three months after your twelfth birthday.

Guess what, Milan's birthday passed a month ago so he could shift anytime, any day during this month and next month.

"But I'm not scared, MacKenzie." He said in a brave tone.

"That makes one of us." I said as I ran my hand through his soft hair.

"Mommy, do I have a daddy now? Can I call Pierce Daddy now?" Asked Serenity excitedly, making my breath hitch in shock.

"I don't know, Baby." I forced out with a forced smile.

"Ohh." She quietly said, her happy tone instantly changing to one of disappointment.

"Of course you can, Pumpkin. "Pierce smiled, showing his pearly whites as he picked her up and placed her on his lap.

"So, Dad," Milan began, "Does that mean I can call MacKenzie Mom, now?" He asked curiously with a smile.

"Depends on if MacKenzie doesn't mind." He shrugged.

"Do you?" Milan asked me with barely hidden hope lacing his tone.

"Are you sure you want to call me your mom? I am young, won't you be embarrassed?" I asked.

"Yes, I'm sure. That way, I have the coolest mom." He enthusiastically smiled.

"Okay, I don't mind then." I said as I pulled him into a hug, which he returned wholeheartedly.

"So, will you two move in with us now? Are you fine with having a werewolf boyfriend?" Asked Pierce teasingly, but you could hear the seriousness as well as the children moved away and walked out of the room.

"Yeah, I'm willing to give it a try. Besides, how many girls out there can say that they have someone who will stick with them through dark times and in good times, someone who will be loyal to them. With you I know that it's all serious, that you aren't just playing. Plus Serenity can have a father figure, someone who will not just up and leave her, atleast I hope so." I said as I looked through my thick eyelashes.

A hand gently lifted my head, connecting my chocolate brown eyes to a pair of warm, ocean blue ones.

"My Love, as werewolves we only ever have one love unless on special situations like ours, " He smiled as he said the last part, "It's literally 'till death do us part for us, so I'll never leave you or our children." He said, making me blush when he referred to Serenity and Milan as 'our' children.

"I'm yours forever just as I hope you are mine." He said as he leaned in and gave me a kiss on my cheek. A kiss that was so featherlight, but yet meaningful. It honestly took my breath away as a sensation of warmth spread through my body from that spot. "This will do for now." He whispered before moving away.

"It's a bit difficult for someone who has a bad experience of being deserted to believe that." I sadly smiled.

"What do you mean?" He asked, tilting his head in curiousity.

With a weak smile, I told him about my not so magnificent life story. Going from my parents ditching me to my aunt, to Mason and to finally how I ended up here. By the time I was finished, he looked calm, but his eyes said a different story. He was furious. His once sapphire blue eyes had turned to navy blue.

"How dare they hurt our mate like that." He growled in a deeper voice than usual.
