I looked down the road ahead, and released a deep exhale. The night was already falling and soon I would have to stop and take a break. My legs were killing me and my dear and very helpful golden wolf refused to lend me some of her magical stamina.

“She too had a petty side. It’s not only golden perfection there!” Cal barked, and I shook my head.

It was okay to be on bad terms with the world, and even with Grant. But I didn’t like being on bad terms with one of my wolves. I loved those two furry opposites.

Pulling a green branch aside, I opened my way through the narrow path within the forest. That was the fastest route to Aaron’s pack. I’ve studied the little map in my hand many times and although I wasn’t a tracker, I wasn’t bad at it and probably wouldn’t get lost. At least not physically, only emotionally.
