Mia felt everyone's eyes on her. The cafeteria, which had previously been buzzing with laughter, conversation and trays being dragged over the metal of the tables, was plunged into a tense silence after the explosion of power and anger that emanated from Nolan. Diana's claws were still embedded in his arm, and she could feel the warmth of the blood that was slowly seeping through his skin.

His voice was firm, low and full of authority. But more than that, it was charged with something Mia couldn't quite put her finger on - perhaps hatred, perhaps protection, perhaps something even more confusing.

“I don't think you're hungry today, Diana. Maybe you should go home early.”

Diana turned slowly towards Nolan. Her clear eyes, which moments before had brimmed with superiority, now reflected hurt and deep resentment. She opened her mouth as if she was going to say something, a final provocation or perhaps a plea, but as she stared into Nolan's glare, she gave up. He seemed on the verge of lo

Nolan's point of viewNolan was on his way home to discuss the story of the Loyalists. Maik and Tiago were with him, and it was interesting to see how well they got along, even though they were avoiding the subject of Fred. But they would have to talk about it soon.Suddenly, Nolan's mind was filled with images of Mia and Liam.He felt how confused she was, he felt her acceptance... and then his world collapsed. He fell to his knees trying to control Thunder, because he knew that if he took control now, it would cause destruction. The boys stopped beside him, worried:“Hey man, what's going on?” asked Tiago, kneeling beside him.“Make it stop,” Nolan shouted, wishing the images would leave his head. Above all, he wished he didn't love Mia.In a desperate attempt to relieve himself, he shared the images in his mind with the boys.“Holy shit,” said Tiago, struggling to control himself. Nolan felt his desire to kill Liam, and that didn't help him at all.“Damn it, Mia, what the hell are

Mia's point of viewWhat the hell, what's wrong with her? Was she as screwed up as Elisa? Did they have some kind of gene that made them idiots who hurt the men they loved?Mia sighed, still looking at the place where Nolan had just left, and said aloud:“What's wrong with me? Why didn't I convince him that I'm not involved with Liam?”She heard footsteps approaching and went on alert.“Is it because you love me too?” Liam asked as he approached cautiously. She let out a warning growl, and he stopped in his tracks.“What are you doing here? Didn't my father take you to Alpha Derick?”“He didn't think it was necessary for all of us to go, only my father and mother went.”She let out a sarcastic laugh and asked:“And by any chance are they your parents?”"I never knew my parents, I was handed over to the Loyal ones as soon as I was born, but yes, they are the only parents I know, they raised me. But you're changing the subject. If you look deep inside yourself, you'll see that at least

Nolan's point of viewNolan wanted to reject her, to hurt her with the same intensity that her actions had hurt him. But when he looked at Mia's contorted face, he gave up. He turned away, letting Trovão take over, and went into the woods. He could feel her pain beyond the physical, the shame and, above all, the despair. He realized that she hadn't yet realized that part of her loved Liam too. He wanted to kill, he wanted to destroy something, because he was so full of Mia that there was no room left inside him—no room for anyone else. But she didn't even know that his heart had room for both of them. The desperation Nolan saw in her eyes when she thought he was going to kill Liam wouldn't leave his mind. It was maddening. He came to a clearing—the same one where his mother had been found dead—and something about that place calmed him. He stared at the horizon, thinking about the decision he had to make.He sensed Mia's approach long before she arrived. He sighed, because he wanted mo

Nolan's point of viewNolan couldn't believe his eyes. It was Fred and Diana's mother. What the hell was going on there?“Did you notice anything different?” asked Uncle Dilan. Nolan looked at him ironically and replied:“Apart from the fact that she's dead?”“Pay attention, and tell me what's wrong,” insisted Uncle Dilan.Nolan approached and examined the body. The wound on her neck could have been made by wolves or vampires. And then he realized: the damn smell.“She doesn't smell,” he said, and Uncle Dilan nodded, adding:“And a wound like that wouldn't kill a wolf, and she has no other wounds that could justify her death.” Now that he said it, Nolan realized it made sense. “And look at her arms, those marks shouldn't be there.”He looked at her arm and saw that she—or someone—had been injecting something into it. But the curious thing was that her wolf hadn't been healing her arm.“Her wolf died. That's why such a small wound was able to kill her,” Nolan said, putting the pieces t

Mia's point of viewMia was anxious, looking for a way to get away without attracting the attention of Maik and the wise man, who kept their suspicious eyes on her. Mirella, on the other hand, seemed lost in thought, surely imagining a way to attract Tiago to her once and for all. Then the perfect opportunity arose. Mirella stood up and said she could sense vampires approaching, three or four to be exact.Mia tried to stifle her guilt for leaving them to face this alone, but she had somewhere to go.As soon as the fight began, she ran away in her human form—after all, a white wolf would attract too much attention. But Prata lent her strength, and she quickly approached the place where she would find the traitor. She knocked on the door and waited. Amy answered with a smile on her face and said,“So you finally decided to accept one of my invitations and show up,” stepping aside to let her in.Mia quickly analyzed her options. She didn't know if it was a good idea to go in, she didn't

  • My big bad wolf   91

Nolan's point of viewNolan turned toward the forest and saw Tiago running toward them.He arrived urgently, saying that they had suffered a multiple attack, with the Vampires on one side and the rogues on the other, and now Nolan wondered which side Elisa was working for.He ordered Tiago to send people after Elisa—he couldn't allow her to leave the territory. He realized he needed someone extremely trustworthy to accompany Mia, someone with a strong enough bond that they could be contacted from a long distance. His anger toward Fred grew in that moment—he had been disappointing him ever since Diana tried to poison Mia, causing Nolan to lose control and almost kill her. When he sent Tiago after him, saying he was his Gama, Trovão rejected the connection. That could only mean one thing: Fred was no longer his Gama. And Nolan was sure Tiago had noticed too, because he saw the confusion on his face. The strangest thing was that Fred had appeared out of nowhere.Hiding his feelings, Nola
