The smile still shone on Liam's face, on the screen of his cell phone, when Mia turned the camera back to herself. She barely had time to process how much those words warmed her up inside before she heard them:

“I'm proud of you, princess.”

Those words made her smile for real. For the first time all day, she felt safe, as if nothing could touch her at that moment. But this feeling was brutally interrupted.

Within a second, the cell phone was snatched from her hand with such rapid force that her fingers barely had time to react. The next instant, the sound of the device smashing against the cafeteria wall reverberated through the room like a gunshot.

Mia turned around, her heart already racing, ready to face Diana for the third time that day. But as she turned, she didn't find the arrogant blonde. It was Nolan.

Standing there, just a few steps away, his eyes glowed an intense, almost supernatural red. His aura was menacing, and the woody, spicy smell that had always seemed enchanting t

Mia kept her hand firmly on the door handle, but found an unexpected strength in herself. She took a deep breath, keeping her gaze fixed on Nolan's intense eyes.“My father isn't here,” she said, her voice sounding firmer than she had expected. As soon as the words were out, she tried to close the door, but failed. Nolan's foot placed itself between the frame and the wood, preventing movement. Mia huffed angrily.“I know,” he replied calmly, as if it were the most obvious thing in the world. “He's with my father.”Mia rolled her eyes. The last thing she wanted was to see Nolan, let alone have him stand there in her driveway, after everything he had said in the cafeteria. She felt like a walking battlefield - confused, hurt, ashamed.“We're not friends, Nolan. Then you'd better leave.”“No, Mia, we're not friends,” he agreed, his voice as deep as restrained thunder. “And I don't want to be your friend either.”Mia raised an eyebrow, surprised by his cruel frankness. Before she could t

As soon as Nolan left the cafeteria, Mia felt as if he had taken all her dignity with him. The gazes that had previously been on her with curiosity now weighed like a chain around her neck. Some looked at her with pity, others with the expression of someone observing a disaster foretold, and, to her discomfort, there were also those who laughed discreetly, finding amusement in the vexation of others.Mia's chest burned. Her eyes filled with water, but she pressed her lips together, dug her nails into her palms and repeated to herself like a mantra:“I'm not going to cry. I'm not going to give that self-centered son of a bitch a taste.”But telling herself this wasn't enough to erase the feeling of humiliation that burned in her skin. Anger boiled up, a bitter mixture of disappointment with Nolan and frustration with herself. Because, deep down, his words made sense. Showing her cell phone, with video and sound, in a school where at any moment a wolf could turn or leak something import

Mia felt everyone's eyes on her. The cafeteria, which had previously been buzzing with laughter, conversation and trays being dragged over the metal of the tables, was plunged into a tense silence after the explosion of power and anger that emanated from Nolan. Diana's claws were still embedded in his arm, and she could feel the warmth of the blood that was slowly seeping through his skin. His voice was firm, low and full of authority. But more than that, it was charged with something Mia couldn't quite put her finger on - perhaps hatred, perhaps protection, perhaps something even more confusing.“I don't think you're hungry today, Diana. Maybe you should go home early.”Diana turned slowly towards Nolan. Her clear eyes, which moments before had brimmed with superiority, now reflected hurt and deep resentment. She opened her mouth as if she was going to say something, a final provocation or perhaps a plea, but as she stared into Nolan's glare, she gave up. He seemed on the verge of lo

Mia could hardly believe that the morning wasn't over yet. The first lesson had already been complete emotional chaos, thanks to Nolan and his drastic change of attitude. But, to her relief, she had two more classes before the break. The first was French, something she had been studying for some time, which gave her some comfort. The second, however, completely floored her: History of Wolves. She felt a certain panic when she entered the room and realized that she was the oldest one there. All the other students seemed to be at least two or three years younger than her. Still, she swallowed her pride and sat quietly at the back of the room. Mia knew absolutely nothing about wolves. Nothing about their world, their rules, their stories, their conflicts. It was embarrassing to admit, but she needed that lesson, even if she felt like a child among teenagers. The lesson was... revealing. She learned about the origins of the clans, the legendary alphas, the territorial wars, the marking ri

From Nolan's point of view:Nolan's only consolation that morning was knowing that Diana was in another class. After everything that had happened over the weekend, the last thing he needed was to face her again. He walked through the cold corridors of the school with a heavy step and a closed face. The black leather of his jacket swayed with the movement of his broad shoulders, and his intense eyes scanned his surroundings with disinterest. He entered the room and went straight to the back, where Tiago and Fred were already slumped in their chairs, their expressions a mixture of boredom and alertness. Sitting with them was an attempt to maintain a semblance of normality, as if his mind wasn't filled with thoughts that only drove him madder by the minute. But fate seemed determined to test him.The door to the room opened.Nolan felt it before he saw it. A sweet, familiar, warm smell. His wolf rose inside him as if waking from a light sleep. His muscles stiffened. His senses screamed i
