Chapter 8: Harassment and help from the crowd

While observing Olwen, the bartender suddenly raised an annoyed eyebrow when a suspicious man approached Olwen.

"Hello, beautiful lady." The voice whispered in Ollwens ear: "I think you need someone to keep you company. We can talk and drink together, don't you think?"

"Actually..." Olwen looked at the person who had disturbed her quiet, and replied nonchalantly, "I'm not interested in you. I need you to stay away from me."

"Come on." He tried to convince Olwen: "I think we can spend time together. It'll definitely be fun."

Olwen is a beautiful, attractive girl. That's why from the moment she entered the pub, Olwen became the target of a number of predators. The one trying to get Olwen's interest was one of them.

"Are you deaf?" Olwen asked coldly, "Or do you not understand human language?"

Feeling despised and ridiculed, he became angry and shouted loudly:

"Say what?"

"I said you stay away from me, understand?" Olwen glared at him: "If you don't understand what I'm saying, it's a pity. Not only are you severely deaf, but you are also mentally retarded."

Actually, Olwen didn't want to say such heavy words. But she really couldn't help it. Olwen just wants to be alone and doesn't like to be bothered. This is the best way that no one dares to start a conversation or try to approach Olwen anymore. For his part, the man, feeling humiliated by Olwen in public, engendered hatred.

"You bastard. How dare you speak so insolently?" He shouted impatiently, raised his hand to slap Olwen, but heard someone else's intervention.

"You're bothering her." The bartender's voice cut in: "She's already asked you to leave, do as she says."

"Who dares to interfere in my affairs?" He turned to the male waiter and shouted loudly: "You bitch."

"Please stay calm and respect other customers." The bartender was still calmly reminded.

"What if I don't do that? What can you do to me? Want to fight?" The guy hotly let out a provocation.

The bartender didn't say much, immediately signaling to a security guard nearby. Very quickly the security guard walked over to the counter. The man who was harassing Olwen when he saw the man who was bigger than him, immediately felt scared.

"Want to make a mess?" The security guard asked: "The troublemakers will be kicked out of here."

The scary tone made the man gulp nervously.

"You heard her. Just leave and leave her alone." The bartender spoke up again. The murderous aura that emanated from it carried a terrible threat.

He was still hesitant to let this go easily. He was hatching the idea of having fun with Olwen tonight. It would be nice to be warmed by Olwen's beautiful body on a cold winter night. But it seems, the perverted man's bad intentions will not succeed. When not only guards stood out to keep order. There were also many people who spoke out to reflect on and criticize his behavior.

"Don't act like a man, okay?"

"That's right."

"That's not how a gentleman should flirt."

"You're really making this pretty lady uncomfortable."

"Better leave her."

Many men have commented, making him feel both embarrassed and angry. It is rare for someone to speak out in defense of others in places like bars. It can be said that Olwen is quite lucky to catch the eyes of many men present in the shop. That's why they spoke out to intervene, the purpose for Olwen was few, for personal interests were many. Eliminating an opponent means that the individual percentage will be increased. Maybe one of them will make an impression on Olwen, and thus be able to get to know her. It is impossible to distinguish who is good from who is bad, nor whether the help is benevolent or has shady motives. In this complex environment, everything is very suspicious and should not be trusted.

The man looked around, eyes following him. He saw quite a number of competitors. Some of them are bloody. Knowing that he was in a weak position, he clicked his tongue and complained:

"Fuck. That's bad luck."

He expressed anger and contempt for all before leaving Olwen alone. But inwardly he remained unrelenting. He told himself he would find a way to punish Olwen later.

After the ferocious man left, Olwen raised her wine glass towards the first person who spoke up for her. She meant to thank that person. The person standing in the bar, performing a professional bartender operation, nodded in response. Olwen then returned to her drinking, oblivious to the world around her. She also doesn't care how time passes.

Things went very smoothly for Olwen after that. And it was good that when the incident was over, no one came near to disturb her. Perhaps some have changed their mind about having fun with Olwen. Others lose interest or feel it's a waste of time to seduce women like Olwen. Some more because of waiting forever, Olwen has not revealed any loopholes and has not yet left the pub. So they couldn't attack her, got bored so they gave up. Many people speculate that Olwen is definitely the type of person who will not be easily conquered. Those who do not have serious intentions, viewing relationships only for relaxation, will not have the patience, or the time. So instead of trying their luck with Olwen, they should give it up. There is no shortage of beautiful, attractive women like Olwen, maybe even more.

Olwen finished the bottle and felt her head spinning. Alcohol is taking a toll on her alertness and awareness. Even so, Olwen didn't care at all. She still wants to continue to be immersed in alcohol. She wants to forget all her troubles. Forget all the pain that is weighing on her shoulders. Drinking Olwen while contemplating her own life. It was downright bad. In general, Olwen's life is pathetic, she has never been able to live life to the fullest. She is an unfortunate, pitiful person. She has no one to love, care for, or worry about. She's just someone else's tool. They implicitly let her use her at will. They even despise and insult. Worse than trampling on her dignity. And yet, all these years Olwen had lived in deception with a most ghastly and disgusting secret. The more Olwen thought about it, the more she felt her stomach constrict, while her heart ached. Although the body was worn out, the spirit was crushed, yet Olwen could not bear to shed a single tear. This is something to be proud of, but at the same time worrisome.

Olwen wondered when she would get out of this miserable life. When will she get out of the way of fighting alone? Olwen has no ambition herself to be happy. She just wanted simple peace. Will God hear Olwen's wish?
