Lance slumped on his bed and relaxed his body. The past few days had been tiring for him such that it was only fair that he rested for a while before he went back to work. There was need to rush the process, O’Neil Williams and some of his colleagues were not going to run away anyway. Lance grabbed a photo f Gabriella from the bedside table and stared at it. Suddenly, Henna’s word rushed into his head prompting Lance to give his sister a call.
“Daniel!” Kedade chirped. “I heard that you guys did well during your operation.”
“Yes, we did well.”
“I also heard that you got hurt.”
“Just a little. A bullet grazed me but that is all.” Lance replied feeling exulted.
“Be careful out there Lance.” Kedade’s voice sounded grave.
“I am alright, Kedade.” Lance assured her. “I am doing this to make sure that you can come back home, Kedade. I want yo
Chapter Thirty-NineSunny woke up, took a bath and dressed up quickly. A servant had come to inform her that Lorenzo needed to see her immediately. She assumed that the urgent call was about Dario’s failure to complete his operation with O’Neil. Slowly walking into Lorenzo’s cambers, Sunny greeted her supposed father-in-law. He nodded and gestured her to a nearby seat. Sunny took a seat and looked at Lorenzo, intently scrutinizing him. He looked worried and weary, a sign that the ambush had taken a toll on him.“You called for me, father.” Sunny started the conversation. It had no being long since she arrived but she was already eager to have the conversation done with and leave because she loathed Lorenzo more than she did his son.“How is Dario?” He asked frantically.“The doctor said he will be fine after taking enough rest.” Sunny said. “He is lucky the bullet only hit his arm
Sunny woke up and saw that Dario was not in bed. She worriedly got out of bed and dashed to the restroom and slipped, losing her balance. Sunny was heading down on the floor when someone abruptly held her back from falling. She looked up at her savior and saw that it was Dario and smiled relievedly."Where were you going?" He asked."I got worried when I didn’t see you on the bed.""It's morning already.""Yes but you still have to rest." Sunny answered him brazenly. "Whatever you need, I will get it for you.""You are so sweet, but you should know that I am not a weak person." Pavel said and left. Sunny followed him into the room."I still insist that you rest." Sunny was relentless."I have to fix the problems we are currently facing Sunny.""What will you do?""I am going to sneak into NBCI and kill O'Neil.""It too dangerous." Sunny protested."I still have to go.""Then take me with you." Sunny said. No sooner had she said t
Chapter Forty-OneSunny frowned and moved back, giving Pavel a bit of space. Pavel flinched, knowing sunny was about to call him out on something he did wrong and he was right“Let’s forget about us for a moment and look at another pressing issue.” she said.“Which is?”“I saw your men bringing in new girls earlier.”“Is that a pressing issue? Such things should be normal to you by now.”“Dario, don’t you have a conscience? Those girls are minors. They are children for Christ’s sake. One of them should be thirteen or fourteen.”“And how do you know that?”“I can tell by looking, Dario.” Sunny sneered.“It’s just business, sunny. We must do whatever we can to survive.”“You want us to have a child together. Imagine if someone did that to our child.”“Sunny!
Sunny woke up to the soft voices coming from the direction of the terrace. She wondered who could be talking in mutters that early morning. Sneaking into the other room, Sunny stooped, hiding behind the bed to eavesdrop.“The auction went well, boss.” She heard Buxton say.“That is good. You should not tell sunny about this no matter what.” Pavel retorted. Sunny peeped ans saw him smirking triumphantly.“But how will we keep such information from her?” Buxton asked. “The thing is she is part of the operations now. We cannot afford to hide things from her.”“Are you telling me you can’t do what I just asked you to do?”“No, boss. I just think-Pavel pushed Buxton to the wall, pressing down his throat aggressively while the latter struggled to breathe.“Where is your loyalty, Buxton? Is it with me or her?”“You…” Buxton struggle
Outside the old Creek garage, Wilson could be seen rushing to his car with two other men. The street light lighted their faces, selling out their worries as they entered the car with frowns. Just like Lance had predicted, tension rose when they received news that James was still alive. Lance and John exchanged looks and nodded to each other. They were right all along. The Chief Agent was on to them and he was using Wilson to do his dirty jobs. In fact, Vivian was also a pawn of his despite having her own personal Vedanta with Lance. As soon as Wilson and his men left, Lance signaled to his squad, motioning them forward with his gloved hand. The squad took his orders and crept to the garage, lying low wherever they could find a hiding place. John also motioned his squad forward but he chose a different direction in order to ensure that the cow horn formation which they had planned to use was effective. Lance and John were the only ones remaining in the same spot as before. This
Chapter Forty-fourSamuel looked left, right and then left before he crossed over to the other street and approached a payphone. He slipped in some coins and dialed a code number.“Your message is here.” he said, placed the telephone back and walked away. In his office, Lance could be seen putting his telephone back on the receiver; a grin appearing on his face and just then, John walked into his looking gloomy. Lance offered him a seat and a cup of coffee immediately. John sat down and took the cup of coffee from Lance while the latter poured himself another cup.“Let me guess.” Lance broke the silence. “Sharyn doesn’t want you hanging out with me.”“Did you tap my house?”“No, I have seen how she looks at me.” Lance said. “It is obvious she thinks your life is in danger because of me.”“That is not true….” John spoke in haste.
Lance stood before the board and presented the Chief Agent, bound in cuffs like a common criminal. It was hard to say but everyone was shocked at this development. Lance nodded to John and the two of them distributed the papers containing the evidence among the board members."I recently received news from Agent 505 that there is an insider working with the syndicate and I have reasons to believe that the traitor is Chief Agent Andrew Boyaze." Lance said, confidently following through with his plans with evidence. "The reason I say this is that there has been many attempts on my life, John's life and the lives of my colleagues recently. To top it all, all evidence points to the Chief Agent.""Recently, Agent Wilson was sent to kidnap my girlfriend as bait tokill me and Lance but the plan backfired." John chipped in. "The following day, Wilson was strangled to death with the help of his own hands by Jim. We have signed confessions from both Jim and Carina,
Dario Pavel woke to the bad news of his father’s demise. The rumor spreading around was that he had been poisoned in his sleep. Infuriated, Dario had Cube and tony brought to him for questioning since they were in charge of Lorenzo’s safety but the two men were dazzled. they could not remember seeing anything suspicious in Lorenzo’s room. “Should I assume that you two killed my father?” Pavel asked. “Please, believe us, young master. We had nothing to do with this.” Cube retorted pleadingly. He was telling the truth. The two men and Buxton had dedicated their lives to serving Lorenzo and vowed to leave his side only after their deaths but Pavel did not believe them. In the world of war, people believed that those closest to you had a higher chance of ending your life and Pavel assumed the men had intentions of killing his father fr a long time; they just waited for the right time and did it. Pavel was right about his assumptions but he was wrong about the killers.
