Chapter 5 - Captured (1)

Chris' PoV

After the meeting in our company was done, I went to my office to carry out some paperwork which took longer than expected, by the time I have completed them and checked them off, everyone was already gone except for me and my secretary (Lyla) who helped me out to finish the day off before making our way outside.

Lyla was one of my trusted worker and ally, despite how the company was full of human employees, Lyla is actually not a human but instead a witch and therefore she knows of my identity, she was also the one who looked after me when I was in pain due to my ex-mate, she also taught me about medicine and potions so I was able to make them which can help wolves at critical moments including cure to silver and wolves bane which is a unique potion she formed herself that no one knows of except for to me and Lyla.

At the beginning I was unsure whether I was worthy of gaining the knowledge Lyla worked so hard on but after knowing each other for so long, we came to understand each other and became close friends and since Lyla aren’t always in the pack, she thought it was also a precaution for if someone was ever injured by these things to be treated and if Lyla isn’t there, I was a backup. And with that I reluctantly agreed and learnt the secret to curing wolfsbane and silver that are only poisonous to werewolves.

Now coming back to the present day, me and Lyla have finished all our work whilst we used the elevator and came out of the company together, “Want to pitch a ride?” Lyla asked considerately whilst I kindly rejected her offer knowing it is quite late and it can be dangerous if she gone home too late, “nah, I want some fresh air so I’ll take a walk first before heading home, you could go ahead” I said whilst she nodded hesitantly but nevertheless she entered her car knowing that I am competent enough to look after myself and even if I do get in trouble I have the ability to get myself out of it.

As the rear lights of Lyla’s car begin to fade until I no longer see her, I then made my way towards the direction I came in this afternoon. And as soon as I entered the forest, ensuring no one was around, I then let my wolf out to play and run about for a while. We started jumping from tree to tree and ducking branches that was coming our way until we heard footsteps behind us closing in.

“Do you hear that?”

I questioned.

“Yep, there is about 7 wolves behind us, it seems we went into another packs territory.” Lisa replied.

Whilst I sighed, not knowing a pack was in the area. Oh no, this is just great, how did I even run into another pack’s territory? We need to fight them off before they could catch up to us or else, we may risk our identity of being found.

As I kept on running, the distance between us increased, as I thought I was nearly out of the clutches of those wolves another one appeared out of nowhere in front of me.

He seems to be a beta due to having a bigger and more demanding demeanour, he was a brown wolf with green eyes, which isn't good.

Whilst still in my wolf form facing against the larger wolf that's in front of me, he started snarling and pacing towards me, trying to bite me and lose my balance but for me who has lots of training, I was able to keep up with the beta despite my small figure which in some cases worked to my advantage since the smaller the body, the more agile and flexible we are. Furthermore, I was more speedy than other wolves during a fight.

We were on equal footing but if I was in human form, it'll be easier for me to attack as weapons were my best skill when fighting however, I cannot do that or else I'll risk my identity in being revealed.

As we fought for a while, kicking his shin, and knocking him down causing blood to be spat out of his mouth, the beta in front of me began to be serious and not long later, the other wolves arrived at the scene and as if forming a circle around us whilst ensuring I was not going to escape but also just watching the show which seems to be amusing and entertaining to them.

“If I don't end this quickly, it'll bring a lot of trouble” I thought to myself. I looked over at the beta and flared an evil glare causing him to flinch along with the wolves surrounding us and as he took a step back, I quickly ran towards the opposite direction and ducked before being caught by the warriors shielding my exit as they were distracted.

By the time I escaped I arrived at a town, there was lots of people around, so I tried to hide myself within the crowd to not get found.

As I sensed the scent of the wolves approaching, I pulled my hood closer to cover my face even more and walked further away whilst looking at the ground to avoid unwanted eye-contact.

I quickly went to the side of the road and asked for a taxi but before the taxi driver could park, my hand was forcibly pulled out of the road, and I was suddenly face-to-face with the beta once again.

“You won't escape me this time” he said mischievously.

“How did you even find me?” I questioned.

“Well, it was quite hard, but my blood was on you when I took that blow, so we tracked down it and now we're here” he said in a matter of fact.

Wow he’s quite clever, guess I underestimated my opponent’s ability. I should've paid more attention to smaller details from now on. As a werewolf, one of my main disadvantages was that any stains that have been caught on my fur would automatically stick to my clothes since when I transform to human my clothes are still on me.

I looked around my surrounding trying to find an escape root, “there is no use, we got you all surrounded, and you won't dare to make a scene here, would you?” He asked in an amused and threatening tone knowing fully well that it is against werewolf law to fight in public especially within human society since some still don’t know supernatural beings exist and they would want to keep it this way.

He then pushed me into a black van that was swerving in from the road and we drove off.

“Where are you taking me?” I questioned in anger.

“Why were you in our territory?” He reputed.

“It was an accident” I seethed.

“Well, no matter what it is, we must take you to see our alpha before any decision is made.”

Oops, I should've been more careful even if my wolf was out, I knew the protocols, they take ages and I hate coming face to face with another alpha, and that is also one of the main reasons for why I never attend pack meetings or form any allies.

Well, can't be blamed, all the alpha I've seen in my lifetime was all scumbags, they treated me like a useless baggage and when I have no use anymore, they'll easily dispose of me. Well, that was my life before the age of 14 but now I’m different but still I can't trust them.

Anyways, the protocols are used whereby every suspicious wolf that pass a packs territory would need to explain the reason of being on their territory include seeing the alpha to see what their outcome would be. And as for me, I was seen as suspicious due to my clothing and scent.

By the time we arrived, I was then led into a mansion like house that was very big and fancy, with gates outdoors guarding the entrance and a fountain in the middle of the place. The balcony like stairs and the beautiful grassland surrounding the mansion made it beautiful. Along with the house being in white and lamps shone on the way in, a scent caught my senses, it was sweet and intoxicating but I was pulled out of my daze when I was pushed into a silver cage in a dark room which I haven't realised till now.

After the warrior glanced over us, he then exited and locked the door before going back to the surface.

I glanced over at my surroundings, the only light that was present was the lamp from the far end near the door whilst there were other cages, some empty and some with other wolves in, majority of which were rouges who looks like they've been crazed out of their salvation and lost their mind through the colour of their deep red eyes.

I wasn't screaming or scared as I've came around those types of rouges quite a lot, well what do you expect from no-mans-land which is well known for the number of rouges running about.

“So how are we going to escape?” I questioned myself or more like to my wolf to ask for some suggestions.

“Well, it doesn't seem like there is any exit and it's not like we have any business anyways, why not just wait it out and then when they least expect it, bust out of here.”

I smiled, “I like what you’re thinking there.”

We then waited it out, after a few hours which seems like years, the door finally opens revealing yet again the beta, to be honest seeing his face made me really want to punch him, if it weren't for him, I wouldn't be here. But then again part of it was my fault. It's like whenever I see him, bad things would come. And if I dislike the beta this must, I doubt I would like the alpha either.

He then came closer to my cage, scavenging his pockets which I’m guessing he was trying to find the key to my cage. Instead of waiting for him, I decided to open it and walk out of it.

“h…. how did you do that?” he questioned.

“Haven't you heard of picking a lock?” I said disinterested

“I mean the cage is made of silver” he said with wide eyes.

“So?” waiting for him to reply. The expression on his face was something to die for, it was hilarious, but I held in my laughter and waited till the right time to make my move.
