EMILIA'S POV

We spent the entire two days left planning, and when it was finally the day of the event, there was nothing left unattended.

By the time I stepped into the event venue, everything was already in motion, staff were moving around with purpose, trying to get their various jobs done. I arrived an hour earlier than the guest's arrival time. Things were moving perfectly with time so far, and final touches were being added to the venue with precision.

Bella fell into step beside me as I

CASSANDRA'S POVI have been lagging. Things are happening around me and I haven't been taking action on them. I need to return to my former self, I need to act. "It's high time you do something vital, she is moving faster than I can afford to catch up. I can't promise to keep her in my grasp for long." I watched the speaker carefully. He was right, we cannot keep her around for long, she is growing rather too fast. "But what do I do, you saw for yourself the kind of person she is. For one, you cannot easily fool her. Secondly, she has more experience than us, even if we want to get back to her through her work, she might detect the error and cancel it out immediately." I kissed my teeth in frustration. She was good. Far too good for my liking and now I have to deal with that. "I have an idea of what can be done. But I am not sure if you will accept it. I mean I know your work is far more important to you than getting revenge." "If the revenge is on her, then nothing is more impo

JULIAN'S POVI was distracted. Very distracted from my reality. I had tried so hard to force my mind to think about anything else but that man being alone with her in the hospital, but nothing worked. My every thought was filled with him. I became so restless to the point where I had to excuse myself from work and drive to the hospital. I didn't stop anywhere until I was right in front of her door. I knocked first before pushing it open. To my utter surprise, she was alone in the room, facing the door with the IV still connected to her hand.“Hey.” I walked in, closed the door softly behind me, and covered the rest of the distance toward her bed. “Hey, Julian.” She forced a smile. I knew it was forced because her genuine smile always reached her eyes. “How are you feeling?” “I feel great, but they wouldn’t let me go.” She whined, resting her head back on the pillow. “They know better than you. They are doing what’s right you just have to exercise a little bit of patience.” “I gu

EMILIA'S POV"Is there anything between the two of you?" Theodore asked again. The sincerity in his tone made me realize I couldn't lie to him, I couldn't keep everything from him; he deserves to know the truth about some part of my life, if not all. He meant nothing but goodness toward me, if I couldn't tell him about my health, then he deserved to know some part of my past. "He was my husband, an ex-husband." I watched his face carefully; he was staring at me with an intense gaze. What I would give to know what was going through his mind at that moment. If only life were that easy. "You were married to him?" He whispered, more to himself, like everything was making sense to him. "It was a contract marriage." I began to explain. "I was fresh out of school with no experience in the business world whatsoever. No company is willing to take the risk of handing their finance to a fresh graduate with no experience even though I have all it takes. When I met him, he was just like them,

EMILIA'S POVA sense of divaju hit me when I opened my eyes. I knew I had been in this position before, strapped to a hospital bed with an IV tube in my hand. My head was pounding, my throat parched to a fault. I couldn't even swallow. Everything felt....hot, humid, and painful. I wanted to ask for water, I wanted to see who was in the room with me, I wanted to understand what had happened, and how deep in trouble I was. Did the doctors tell them my secret? Or was it safe with me? But even the thought of blinking my eyes was painful. I knew for a fact that the light in the room would make the headache ten times worse. Talking wasn't even an option I would consider. Moving any muscles will be the biggest mistake I have ever made. So I stick to just lying down there, aware of my surroundings, feeling the pain, but doing nothing about it. I don't know how much time had passed as I remained like that until the door was opened, slowly and the sound of shoes walking into the room reache

EMILIA’S POV For the first few minutes after he left, I was stunned. I stared at the served food, my appetite completely ruined. He just got up and left, just like that. In the middle of a dinner I never asked for. I swallowed.“Hey…” I mumbled; my voice wasn't as usual. “Hey Em, are you done with work over there?” Theodore asked. “Uhm….yeah. I am done.” I cleared my throat. “Can you step back here for a bit, I need you to go through some important documents with a client.” I would do literally anything to get out of here. Without even waiting for him to close his mouth again, I responded. “I will be there in a few.” I pulled myself up from the chair, the weight of judgmental gazes on me nearly sending me to the floor. I held on to my shoulders, high until I was finally outside. Instinctively, I breathe out a sigh of relief, my shoulders slumping in the process. He left. He just rubbed it all over my face that he will always choose her over me. And I was the stupid bitch who ke
