CHAPTER 4: What escort turns out to be a virgin?

The silence in the room punctuated only by the tapping of the pen loosely held between his fingers on the table was beginning to get on Nero's nerves. The silence was making him restless, and he would really hate to get that way right now, because he knew he would have to do some real damage to the imbecile fidgeting and shaking like a pussy.

He was just too tired for that.

He flicked the pen to the ground, and got his feet off the table to the ground. He got off the chair with an irritated sigh, and approached the unfortunate man who was staring hopelessly into the computer before him. The latter's jacket was drenched in sweat like a bucket of water had been thrown over him.

The black haired don came up behind him, and bent over him, peering into the screen with him— a very serious and intent look on his face. The man froze and dared not to turn around.

“Well, I don't know about you,James, but those numbers seem to have disappeared. I can't find them,” He said with mock seriousness, and turned his face to look at the whimpering man whose face was close to his.

“Can you?”He further asked.

James regretted ever thinking he could steal from the devil and get away with it. Nero was so wealthy that he saw no end in sight to the riches of the young CEO. So he thought he could siphon just a little from the fortune of the young man. Being the accounts manager at one of his companies, it had been easy, and he thought he could get away with it—well almost.

“P-pl-lease sir…p‐please sir. Have mercy.”

Nero tutted with a frown. “Come on now, my friend,”he said, pressing down on James's shoulder, making him flinch and wince in pain from the painful grip.

“We were just having a conversation about some missing funds from the company account. No need to be so scared. We just need to solve this like gentlemen. Right Nico?”he asked with a charming innocent smile as he turned to Nico.

Nico was standing at a corner of the room with arms folded across his chest, an impassive, almost bored expression on his face. Nico would have preferred to just put a bullet in the idiot after they got to the company a few hours ago. That had been the reason they came to the building before flying back home—to punish the thief, but Nero just loved to play his little sick games with his prey.

Nico fought to stop himself from rolling his eyes at his boss. Nero chuckled, and turned back to James. “He can be quite grumpy at times,” he informed the whimpering man with a smile.

“So what happened to the missing money, James?” He inquired calmly as he walked away to stand a few feet behind the shaking man who quickly lept off his seat and knelt before him.

“Please forgive me sir. My wife was so sick, she needed the money for an operation,” James cried desperately.

“Shut the fuck up. Your wife divorced your cheating ass last year, you imbecile,” Nero replied matter of factly.

James's mouth dropped open in shock—he had been caught in his lie. He knew he had messed up.

“Please…ple—”

Nero's face grew dark suddenly, and without taking his eyes off the whining man, he called out to his right hand man.

“Nico,” He called, extending his hand behind, and receiving the photos which Nico gave him. He threw the photos to the ground, and James' eyes bulged out of his sockets when he picked it up and saw pictures of his extravagant vacation, and spending with his mistress over the past months.

“That seemed like a lot of fun,” Nero commented, gesturing to the pictures that were shaking in James's trembling hands.

And it begins, Nico thought as he noted the lack of the mischievous humor in Nero's rich baritone.

James began to cry. He knew he was fucked. “Forgive me,sir. It will never happen again.”

Of course it would never again,Nero thought grimly as he watched the crying man with a dark expression. He hated liars, but he deeply despised thieves, and would never forgive that.

“I've always known you were a rat—and well stealing is in the nature of filthy vermin like you, so that was not a surprise to me too,” He began, and slowly got up from his seat.

James began to retreat in fear as Nero slowly approached him with the slow deliberate strides of a predator who had cornered his prey. Nico moved across the room, and held James down, pinning him to the ground as he struggled punily to free himself.

Nero squatted down in front of the struggling man, with a dark smirk. “But do you know your mistake?”He asked with a faint chuckle, and gripped James's hair, yanking his face up to look at him.

“You messed with the wrong person.”

“Please–”

Nico jabbed his knee painfully into his back, shutting him up, as screamed with pain.

Nero blinked in irritation. The man's shouting was getting on his nerves. He was already tired and really needed some sleep. He had come straight to the company, after he had woken up earlier that afternoon, and the girl was gone. He was due to fly back to Italy tonight, and he needed to handle this scumbag before leaving.

He would have loved to empty an entire magazine into this trash, but the noise would only worsen his headache. He thought of the blade, as stringing him up and carving him like pumpkins sounded like a good idea, but that would make a mess, and take a lot of time and energy.

He reached a hand to Nico, and he handed him a hammer. “This would have to do,” Nero observed as he held up the tool. The restrained man did not have time to react, before Nero brought down the heavy hammer on his hands which Nico had splayed out on the ground.

Five minutes later, Nero was leaving the room, as his guards were dragging a howling James out whose hands had been completely crushed.

“Whatever happened to the escort that was in my suite this morning?”Nero asked Nico as they drove back to the hotel a couple minutes later.

He had not given much thought to it when he woke up and she was gone, but he was surprised when as he dressed up— fresh from the shower, he saw the red bloodstain on the white sheets.

What escort turns out to be a virgin?

Nico, who was sitting in the passenger seat in front, turned back to look at his boss.

“What escort?”he asked with a frown.

“Marena, that tramp had spiked my drink this morning,” he snarled, as he ground his jaw.

“I needed a release, and ordered one of the men, Gio, to send an escort up to my suite, but the girl was gone before I woke up,” He completed with a thoughtful expression.

“I did not see any girl. I would ask the guard,Gio, when we arrived at the hotel. Anyway, we need to leave tonight.”

Nero closed his eyes and leant against the cool leather seats and shut his eyes, before dismissing Nico with a wave of his hand.

Back at the hotel, Nico called the guard, Gio, to inquire about the escort girl.

“Did you see the escort that served the Don today, as she left?”

The guard frowned in confusion. “Escort?”

“Yes,” Nico replied with a hint of annoyance.

“There was no escort here today.”

Nico ground his jaw. “What nonsense is that? The Don was with a lady today, when did she leave?”

In as much as Nico hated Nero's shameless debauchery, it was his duty to ensure his safety, and that meant ensuring the identity of his flings.

The guard was confused. “There was a delay with the girl who matches the Don's preferences. She is yet to arrive.”

Nico's brows drew together. Something was not right here. “Then who was the girl that was with the Don today? Who had access to the Don's penthouse today?”

“Just the delivery girl.”

“Delivery girl?” Nico asked, before he remembered he had asked the girl from the cafe to deliver Nero's dessert.

“She had clearance from you,” the guard further added to exonerate himself from any punishment.

Nico wondered if the girl was the one Nero was referring to? But the girl was not an escort girl, and didn't look to be the type—if looks were anything to go by. He was about to head to Nero to give him the information, when Nero suddenly appeared, eyes blazing red in fury.

“Find me that girl immediately,” He thundered in rage.

Nico knew that something had definitely gone wrong. He could feel it. Did the girl mess up the delivery? She looked quite capable, that was the reason he had given her the job.

“Boss, we are supposed to leave in a few–”

“Do i look like I fucking care about that right now,Nico?”He exploded, slamming a fist on the table.

“Okay boss, what seems to be the matter?” Nico asked calmly.

“The chip is gone.”

CHAPTER 56: Connor was poisonedThe heavy iron doors groaned as Nico pushed them open. And just as soon as he stepped into the familiar dark hole, the damp stench of the dungeon curled into Nero’s lungs, foul as a rotting corpse. He descended the stone steps with controlled strides, his hands shoving into the pockets of the sweatpants he just pulled on as he slid out of bed a few minutes ago. The feelings and memories of yesterday still lingered, as he was still wound tight inside. Every nerve in his body was raw from the events of the previous day. The brutal butchering of one of his men, the return of Olivia’s ex, and her continued attachment to him. He knew he had been rough with her last night. He should have been more gentle because of the baby. Yet what he had unleashed on her was the gentlest he could based on the way he was feeling. His jaw flexed; his hands itched for violence. He needed to break something. “Nico. Call the doctor and have him come over to check on Olivia.”

CHAPTER 55: You drive me insane,Olivia Olivia flinched at the venom in his tone, but she forced herself not to falter. “Yes. If it means saving his life, then yes.”The room fell silent. The words hung heavily between them. There were no mistakes. No misconception and no turning back. Nero threw his dark head back and laughed. Low, sharp, bitter. “Olivia. I finally see you. Not the trembling, innocent, little, religious girl that mommy dearest raised. And certainly not the meek little bird I thought I married. No. You are willing to sell yourself to me for the sake of your lover. How noble. A martyr. A fucking hero, just like him.”His laughter died, replaced by a snarl. “Do you know how that makes me feel? That you’d give me your body, not because you want me, but because of him? Do you know what that makes you?”Olivia’s tears slid faster. “I’m sorry. I don’t know what else to do—”“Shut up,” he snapped, getting up on his feet. He took slow predatory steps towards her and it too

CHAPTER 54: A coin tossed on the tableOlivia’s throat tightened. His words cut like a blade. Anything I ask? She was not dumb nor was she too dense not to read the intent in his tone. She swallowed the thick lump in her throat, wiping her sweaty palm on the fabric of her dress. She nodded. Her voice trembled. “Yes. Please. Just don’t kill him, Nero. I beg you.”A pang of fury mixed with bitterness crawled up Nero’s throat. His eyes narrowed, his silence louder than a shout. Olivia was not expecting it, when he suddenly reached out and dragged her closer by the wrist, his grip firm but not enough to hurt or bruise. His words were ice wrapped in steel. “You dare to beg for him. You dare to plead for another man before me. Not for yourself. Not for me. You fall to your knees and plead… for another man?”Olivia whimpered, but dared not to move an inch. He dragged her so close to his face again that his breath ghosted against her cheek, harsh and bitter. “Do you know what that does

CHAPTER 52: And yet you're hereOlivia had never felt a room so cold. It wasn’t the temperature, it was the silence. Hours had passed since Connor had been brutally beaten by Nero and taken away. Hours had passed since she had no idea how he was; if he was still alive. She was no longer in the infirmary wing. No sooner had Connor been taken away, then some guards arrived with Elena and moved her back to the main house, and this time back to Nero’s bedroom.Whatever progress she made when he listened to her and let her have her own bedroom was lost. She was back to square one—locked up like a prisoner. The silence of the house was deafening. It was like a house where screams had gone unanswered. CHAPTER 51: Something's not right Several men shifted uncomfortably at the mention, eyes darting to Nero as if to gauge his reaction. Some of them wondered how Nico had dared to voice that name out loud, though most, if not all of them, were thinking the same thing.Alonzo’s reign of terror had been littered by mutilated bodies and branded or marked corpses. He got off by making a public spectacle of people. Nero had killed him by his own hands before blowing up the building alongside his body.He stepped back slowly, taking off the gloves that he had put on in the car before they arrived at the scene. He looked at Nico for a long time, his lips curling into a sardonic grin.“Alonzo is dead. I killed him. I put two bullets through his skull myself, if memory serves me well. Unless the man clawed his way out of his grave and picked up a dagger, this isn’t his handiwork. And lay off the ghost theories and suspicions—Nico, unless you want me to string you up on a cross.”Nico shrugged,
