SELENA'S POV

It was supposed to be a happy day. Our eighteenth birthday.

"Selena, dress up. We need to go out to celebrate your birthday." My mother had told us with a strange glow in her eyes.

I felt puzzled, but before I could question her, Selene had cheered, feeling ecstatic.

And then, the journey started.

To celebrate our birthday...

I sat in the back seat of the car with my twin sister’s head resting on my lap. Selene looked so pale again, her chest rising and falling slowly like she was struggling to breathe. She smiled weakly when I brushed a strand of hair away from her face.

“Don’t sleep too much,” I whispered. “We’re eighteen now. You should at least try to enjoy today.”

She hummed but didn’t answer. Typical. Selene was always the quiet one, the sickly one. The one everyone protected.

As for me? I had to be strong, especially since I had my wolf now. She came to me the moment the clock hit midnight. Strong, fierce, and loud in my head. I’d been waiting for this moment my whole life, and I wanted to tell Selene every detail, wanted to make her laugh like we used to when we were kids.

Instead, I just sat there stroking her hair while the car kept moving through the dark road.

Something about the air felt heavy. Our parents sat in the front seats, whispering to each other. Their voices were low and sharp. I thought maybe they were planning some kind of surprise, but the knot in my stomach told me otherwise.

The car slowed. Then it stopped.

“Why are we stopping here?” I asked, frowning. We weren’t anywhere familiar. Just an empty road with trees stretching too far.

“Out,” Father said, his voice cold, with no warmth in it at all.

“What?”

“Get out,” Mother snapped, and before I could react, rough hands yanked the door open.

I gasped when two strange men grabbed me and Selene, pulling us into the night. Selene whimpered, clutching my arm, and I tried to fight, but the grip on my shoulders was like iron.

“Mom? Dad?” My voice broke. “What’s going on?”

No answer.

A cloth bag dropped over my head, cutting off my vision. I thrashed, my heart pounding in panic. All I could hear was muffled voices.

“She’s strong. The other one’s weak.”

“Doesn’t matter. You’ll get a good price for both.”

“They’ll be trained. The Alphas always need more girls.”

My chest froze. Price? Alphas'? Are we getting sold?

We were supposed to be celebrating our birthdays... right?

Was this a prank?

I tried to convince myself, but the unease was overwhelming, and fear gripped my heart.

“Please!” I screamed inside the bag, struggling against the arms that held me. “Mom! Dad! Don’t do this! Please!”

Silence.

I heard the tires of the car crunching against gravel, leaving us behind like garbage.

When the bag was finally ripped from my head, I was standing in front of a tall, rusted gate. Beyond them was a grim compound, the air thick with the stench of sweat, fear, and blood.

Selene clung to me, eyes wide in horror. “Where are we?”

I didn’t know how to answer.

The men shoved us through the gates. The doors slammed shut behind us finally, like the end of freedom.

Inside, girls moved like dolls across the yard, some limping, some carrying buckets, some with bruises covering their skin. The sound of whips cracked in the air. Screams ringing out.

My blood ran cold.

“Welcome to your new home. The Training Center.” One of the guards said, sneering at us.

Training center? What the heck was that supposed to be?

“You’ll learn everything here,” another guard continued as his eyes swept over us, lingering too long. “How to serve, how to obey…and how to keep an Alpha’s bed warm.”

Selene instantly gasped, her thin fingers digging into my arm.

I pulled her close, even though my own knees were weak. “Don’t be scared,” I whispered fiercely, forcing my voice to stay steady. “I won’t let them hurt you. No matter what happens, I’ll protect you.”

But even as I said it, fear clawed at me.

The gates had locked. Our parents were gone. And the future that waited for us was darker than anything I could have ever imagined.

  • NIGHTLY TEARS: The Unknown Luna   CHAPTER 149: THE KISS

SELENA My fingers moved on his chest involuntarily. The firm chest, the slightly moving chest muscles, and the erect nipples... They all reminded me of the night we spent together. His movement against me and his unusually tender words...Heat blared within me, growing toward my throat, and it was difficult to swallow down. My eyes misted over, and without thinking much, I moved closer to him. My mind moved... 'This isn't right.' The voice said in my head. 'He's not your mate at the moment. He doesn't recognize you.' Another voice warned. But... I wanted this. I wanted it so bad that I couldn't stop. Those beautiful ocean blue eyes, the pink lips, the firm body... I wanted them all. I couldn't stop. My lips finally caught his and a dangerous feeling welled up in my head... really dangerously relieving. I wrapped my fingers tightly around his arms and deepened the kiss. I felt him tense. His hand moved against my waist like he wanted to stop me, and his lips parted, like

  • NIGHTLY TEARS: The Unknown Luna   CHAPTER 148: POOL

SELENAAlpha Severin led me toward the pool I'd been wishing to see since we got to the garden, and I couldn't hide my excitement. Knowing it might be improper to get into the holy pool, I stood at the side and looked at it with contentment on my face. The happiness... goddess, how could the water be so beautiful? The scent from the water was unexpectedly different yet comforting. It was almost the same as the feeling I got from King Jared's study, but it was even more obvious. The kind of feeling that made someone feel at peace and like nothing was troubling in the world. If not for Alpha Severin, who was beside me, I might have risked it and jumped into the water already. How cool and comforting would the water be?I really couldn't imagine it. Sighing with emotion, I walked around the edge of the pool while looking into the multiple colored pool. The more I looked, the more I found new colors. Indeed, as they said, the pool was a wonder of nature...No one could create it...

  • NIGHTLY TEARS: The Unknown Luna   CHAPTER 147: FEAR

SELENEI watched as Selena left the room with Alpha Severin, and my smile died down. Gloom flashed across my eyes, but I was soon suppressed when I remembered that Alpha Raviel and King Jared were still in the room. Looking at the two who were staring back at me with cunningness in their eyes, my brows twitched, and I suddenly felt the urge to pull out their eyes. I stood up from the ground and turned to face them. My expression morphed into a smile as I bowed slightly. "I'm sorry to make you watch that earlier. I really made a mistake this time around." I mumbled sincerely. If I hadn't overestimated the Alphas and had instead planned meticulously, then Selena would have returned to me by now. This was also the promise I made to Selena earlier... I wouldn't do this anymore. I wouldn't trust the useless Alphas anymore. I wouldn't throw her into their arms anymore. Instead, I would plan and take her back at once. When that happened, I would remind her of how we used to love each

  • NIGHTLY TEARS: The Unknown Luna   CHAPTER 146: GARDEN

SELENAI had no idea what to think as I followed Alpha Severin out of the room. A part of me supported what Alpha Severin said and felt like King Jared was partial, but on deeper thought, I felt like King Jared had done enough. It needed to be noted that King Jared believed Selene was their mate, and as their mate, she was above everyone else and should have the same standing with them. While they hadn't done the ceremony with her to make her the Luna, she was still someone they had been intimate with, and she wasn't comparable to normal servants. With her status at the moment, she had the right to order guards, maids, and slaves around if she had enough charisma. So, offending a maid like me should have been seen as a trivial thing that could be easily forgotten with a few compensations at most. However, King Jared made her kneel to apologize to me. He made someone who had the potential to become the future Luna of their pack kneel before a mere maid...It was indeed more than e

  • NIGHTLY TEARS: The Unknown Luna   CHAPTER 145: PUNISHMENT

SELENAEverything happened so fast that by the time I returned to my senses, guards were already in the room, surrounding the motionless Selene. She stretched her hand toward the box. "Hand it over. It's mine." She mumbled. Her pale lips were trembling. Selene... had really lost her mind. The gaze at the box was unsettling. It seemed more like an obsession, which greatly unsettled me. How could someone be obsessed with a mere box?Selene had gone crazy. But there was no use for the box anymore, and though I would have loved to punish her by breaking the box, I could tell she might really lose her mind if such a thing happened. Selene might really spiral into madness. I handed over the box to her and watched her hug it in her embrace. She wiped it as if it were a jewel, and her lost eyes finally regained some clarity. She looked around her, seeing the guards surrounding her. Instead of panicking, she hugged the box closer to herself and looked at them with hatred. It was as if

  • NIGHTLY TEARS: The Unknown Luna   CHAPTER 144: FOUND

SELENA"Who owns that box?" Alpha Severin asked as he bent to pick up the necklace. Raising my head, I saw Selene with a pale face and disbelief in her eyes. Her lips trembled, letting out low sounds of disbelief. A smile appeared on my face. "It belongs to Selena," I said, standing up from the ground. My expression was firm as I knew my little act couldn't fool all the Alphas. Maybe Alpha Severin could be fooled, though. Alpha Severin's eyes shifted from the necklace to Selene, and he frowned. "Why is the necklace in your box? Didn't you lose it?" He asked with confusion in his tone. My lips twitched. As expected, he was really fooled. This was good, too. It relieved me of more schemes and facilitated faster results. Selene scrambled up from the bed. Her eyes were fixed on the necklace, and she seemed to be unable to believe her eyes. "I didn't keep it there." She mumbled. "Then how was it there?" Alpha Severin asked. King Jared and Alpha Raviel were at the side, watching
