Leone went through his emails and texts for the last hour or so, working… Or trying to. He read the same email ten times in a row and still had no fucking idea what was it about. So, he gave up. His mind was somewhere else… His eyes were gazing at Norah who was sound asleep. ‘Leo… Please, hold me… I’m so exhausted… and alone.’ Finally, Norah said his name… And the way she said it… So sweetly, almost like a whisper. She looked so fragile, so innocent… ‘Oh, Leo…’ He sat in the armchair of the hotel room, his legs stretched out on a chair, wearing nothing but his pants, thinking of what was said and done before she fell asleep. They were on the yacht, away from everybody, when a horrific storm started. The moment she closed the bathroom door, Norah took a sigh of relief. Her uneasiness had nothing to do with Freddie’s text. It had everything to do with Leone, with what happened on the yacht, with the way she felt while sleeping next to him in the same bed. She looked at her own reflection in the mirror and saw there another woman… someone she couldn’t recognize. In less than twenty-four hours, she changed so much. Those photos changed her life in so many ways, and the strangest thing was getting Leone’s attention. And not only that. Norah turned on the water, then took off the few things she had on and entered the shower cabin. Funny how something as simple as a shower could become the most wonderful thing. “I reviewed your file and some other details,” Leone told her as they left the hotel room. Norah looked over her shoulder at him, dismayed, but not fearful.“Other details like what?” Her financial situation, for example. Her debt level was low, but Norah had a little, and hadn’t made any significant payments or purchases recently. There had been nothing to red flag her as possessing or spending a sum that might have been embezzled. Instead, he’d found more evidence that she was exactly as she portrayed herself.“In a short period of time, you’ve reached an astounding level of education and your work with our office in New York was quite remarkable,” Leone acknowledged once they were in the privacy of the elevator. “Still, for the position here in Milan, there were two more experienced candidates on the list before you. Norah couldn’t believe how honest she was being. Dammit! The feisty Norah was back… Their passionate moment was definitely gone! He thought of something taunting to say back to her but Leone decided to let her be, at least for now. He’d already had her… well, a part of her anyway… Energy and excitement roared through him. His senses felt like they’d been cranked into hyperdrive. His cock was still throbbing, but Leone knew better. Having sex with her in the backseat of a limo had been a terrible idea, given the circumstances. Doing it again was beyond terrible. It was reckless. Foolish. Still, Leone wanted Norah with a hunger he’d never experienced. But it was wrong to indulge this lust. His brain knew this was going to end poorly. “‘Ciao, puffo!’ (Hi, you smurf!) How about I throw you into the pool?” Leone asked in Italian. “Do it!” arrived the little boy’s defiant answer, also in Italian. The boy’s laughing eyes brightened with excitement. He splayed out his arms and legs, ready to fly through the air into the still, blue water despite being fully dressed.“Nah, I won’t do it,” Leone told him, hitching the boy’s wiry figure onto his arm so they were eye to eye. “That’s your punishment for trying to push me in, ‘nanerottolo’ (you, little gremlin). No swimming at all. Now, go on and say hello to Miss Wilde,” he said, indicating her with a nod. Norah looked at Leone, absolutely mesmerized seeing him acting so… playfully. She waited for the little boy to talk. After all, she was the stranger in this picture. She didn’t want to scare him.“Norah, this little devil is Marco Gritti, my second cousin. A few minutes later, Norah was moving around Gabrielle’s kitchen, chatting with her with surprising ease. Besides, every birth story she’d ever heard was a lengthy process, happening in the midnight hours.
