Chapter 3

ผู้เขียน: Ethereal Deer
The doctor frowned and stared at Jessie with some embarrassment.

Seeing that I insisted on watching, Jessie had no choice but to start sealing the seven orifices of my husband and mother-in-law.

"Dr. Charles, thank you for your hard work. I think I will go with cremation. Where can I get the death certificate?"

Jessie's lips twitched unnaturally when she heard me. Gillian, on the side, hurriedly pulled my arm and said, "How can you, a pregnant woman, handle this? We are your neighbors. Leave the rest to me. Don't stress, and take care of the child."

I subconsciously took two steps back when Gillian wanted to touch my belly.

Indeed, if I send them to hell now, it would probably cause my miscarriage. Plus, I wanted them to see how everything they planned failed.

"Okay, thank you Aunt Gillian for your hard work. I'll go get the death certificate first." After saying this, I deliberately stood motionless. My mother-in-law and Raymond had their mouths and noses blocked. I wanted to see how long they could last.

"Cheryl, why don't you head home? I will let you know when it's done."

I vaguely saw the feet of my mother-in-law and Raymond twitching slightly and then falling weakly, and then I nodded with satisfaction.

I returned to my mother-in-law's house, packed up all the things related to my mother-in-law and Raymond, and threw them in the yard.

I cooked myself a table full of delicious dishes, finished my lunch, had my dessert, and waited for my neighbors to come back with the ashes of my mother-in-law and Raymond to continue the show.

At around three o'clock in the afternoon, Gillian and Jessie showed up at my house.

I thought they were going to fool me with two handfuls of fake ashes, but I did not expect them to come back empty-handed.

"Cheryl, the hospital just told us that your mother-in-law and husband still need to stay in the morgue for a few days. You don't have to worry about this. I will take care of it."

I wiped away my tears and held her hand. "Thank you, Aunt Gillian, but we can put this aside. I have more important things to deal with. I will reach out to you if anything comes up."

Seeing that I was behaving abnormally, Gillian glanced at Jessie subconsciously.

"What do you want to do? Let Jessie help you run the errands. You are pregnant, and your health is important."

"Don't bother; it's just some personnel matters."

Gillian could not convince me, so she and Jessie left.

After they left, I went directly to the bank, took out all the money and deposited it into my account.

Then I went directly to the police station with the death certificate issued by the hospital, their ID cards and household registration documents.

After canceling their household registration and obtaining the funeral certificate, I went straight to the village committee.

The premises were scheduled for demolition after a year. Other than the demolition compensation of 30 million, two of those houses were mine.

If I were to start over a new life, I should transfer the houses to myself for assurance.

After Gillian heard the news, she rushed directly to the village committee and started reprimanding me as soon as she entered the door.

"Cheryl, why did you change the name on the homeowner's title deed? Aren't these all yours from now on?"

"Aunt Gillian, I heard that our area will be demolished in the future. When the time comes, what if someone woke up from the dead and snatched the demolition compensation from me? I just wanted to play safe."

"Those are all rumors. Where did you hear that from? I don't think there is any need to change it. Let's go. I have cooked some stew for you."

"Aunt Gillian, I've already done all the paperwork. All that is left to be done is for the documents to be changed to my name. I don't think I should stop now."

When the mayor heard this, he thought it made sense. Confused, he looked at Gillian, who wanted to stop him.

"It is indeed pitiful for her to be widowed. If the demolition really happens, her relatives might show up and fight over the asset. I reckon it would be safer for her to change the papers to her name."

Gillian lost her inheritance rights and had no right to the demolition compensation. She had to rent a house by herself. The news was spread among the neighbors."Her husband was also a member of that family, so she should also be entitled to part of the money.""What do you know? Gillian and her husband were not legally married, so their marriage was not established. Moreover, her brother-in-law found evidence of her cheating on him, and she was kicked out of the family."It was indeed unexpected. After I overheard the chat between neighbors, I could not help but sigh. It was indeed hereditary.A few days later, Gillian's body was fished out of the well. It was discovered while someone was watering the fields. This incident shocked everyone again, and the news spread throughout the village.I also took the opportunity to inquire about it. When her body was retrieved, it was soaked beyond recognition. It was identified as Gillian based on her bracelet. The mayor called Jessie a

My mother-in-law bought a little toy when she was alive. I thought she got it for the baby in my belly. In fact, she wanted me dead. Why would she buy toys for my dead child? When Gillian heard what I said, her face became even paler.Although I looked scary, wandering the street, acting possessed, there were still some bold neighbors who were observing me secretly.Gillian's voice was trembling as she said, "Are you Sharon? Cheryl, stop pretending. What grandson? What a mess. I don't understand what you are talking about!"Jessie ran out in panic when she heard the noise. When she saw my appearance, she was so agitated that she screamed in fright."Jessie, why are you so afraid? I am your future mother-in-law. You have given birth to a lovely grandson. I am here to give a toy to my grandson.""No, get out. If you want to take a life, then take Cheryl's life. I didn't want to kill you. I just wanted you and Raymond to fake your deaths so we could have lived our lives. I didn't e

Jessie's body could not stop shaking as she stared at the coffin closely. Later that night, the oxygen in the coffin was finally used up.Faint noises came from the two coffins, like nails digging into wood. There was a creaking sound, but I just plugged my headphones in. I was afraid that such noise would disturb my serenity.Jessie listened so clearly to the sound fading away bit by bit. When dawn was about to arrive, I reckoned it was almost time, so I took off my headphones.Jessie's gaze was blank as she mumbled, "I heard them calling me for help."By then, two relatives had come to help, and I pretended to pat Jessie on the back to comfort her.I explained to the relatives, "I guess the wake was frightening. Look, she started talking nonsense."For the remaining two days of the wake, I was alone, and the unpleasant smell of the corpse permeated the coffin.Jessie had been suffering from a high fever since she returned home that day, and she was still talking gibberish. E

"You can't nail the coffin shut!"Everyone present was a little confused by her reaction. I also looked at her, pretending to be confused."What's wrong? Is there something wrong?""No… It's just that if you nail the coffin shut, won't it make it less breathable?"I almost could not hold back the smile on my face. Several relatives were present.I bet that Jessie would not want to lose her job because she helped fake Raymond's death. After all, the death certificate had been issued. It would surely spell the end of her career. Moreover, there were so many people present. Her family would be humiliated."Doesn't it need to be airtight? You know, our place is not a hospital. Without refrigeration, the bodies are bound to smell bad in a day or two. We even have to leave the body in the coffin for three days."Jessie was so scared and almost fell to the ground. She stared straight at my face as if wondering whether I had seen through their plan. The uncle next to me nodded."Yeah

Gillian panicked at the mayor's comment. She watched helplessly as the mayor took away my submitted documents and indicated that he would handle it for me soon.Gillian walked ahead of me the whole way home. She must be trying to think of a way; after all, my actions would foil their whole plan.In my previous life, I lost three family members and was grieving in complete silence. I had no time to even think about this. I did not even see the death certificates of my mother-in-law and Raymond. At that time, Gillian personally took care of Raymond's and my mother-in-law's burial. I was particularly grateful to her at that time.I had no doubts about the cremation that was originally planned, but she decided to bury the bodies. I did not see Raymond and my mother-in-law until after they were buried.I was a fool, and they played with me like a fiddle. Then, I ended up with a tragic death. After completing the documentation, I went to see Gillian.I told her that I wanted to hold a
