Chapter Four

Rina's POV

I stared from face to face, unable to understand what was going on.

"Mom." That was the only word I could mutter as I stared into space.

"Honey, have a seat," she said. I shook my head.

"I can't sit. Tell me, Mom, what's going on?"

"We're getting married, Ri, and your things are already being moved to the mansion," my mother said, and I didn't know what to do.

"Says who?" Kai spoke in that quiet demeanor of his. He hardly spoke and was always buried in books or hockey. This too was shocking for him.

"You get to choose who I marry?" His father asked, and there was a dangerous hint in his voice.

I stared at the scene as it unfolded before me. I was unable to grasp anything. What did he mean by stepsister, and what did she mean by getting married? Wait, this wasn't what I was expecting. I knew I had been expecting some form of explanation… but this…

"Dad, Mom only just passed," Kanye said.

"And it's been two years. I came to inform you guys, not ask for permission."

"This isn't right!" Kevin yelled, and Kanye placed a hand over him.

"Honey, please come sit," my mom said, and I shook my head and walked out of the door. This can't be happening.

I was just out of the door when a hand grabbed me. I turned to see Kai.

"Where are you going?"

"Away from all this," I said, trying to pull my hand away from his grip.

"I was asked to take you home."

"What home? You think I would come to your stupid house?" Something in his calm expression shifted.

"Follow me while I ask nicely. I have no time for this bullshit," he said but dragged me to the car and told the driver to move.

I entered the car willingly but stared out of the window. Kai was reading a book next to me. How the hell could he do that at a time like this?

I hadn't spent much time with Kai, and I had made the mistake of assuming he was the only calm sibling. Until he had decided I crossed him. And I realized he might just be as lethal as a silent killer.

And seeing him this calm… meant something wasn't right.

"Are you sure you were asked to take me home?"

He didn't reply but kept reading his book. I laid back and waited to see what was going to happen. When we got down from the car and I was instead carried to a small storage room at the side of the very enormous mansion, I knew something was up.

But I followed anyway, thinking of a possible way out and what leverage I had to salvage this situation.

Kai opened the door and asked me to go in.

"Do you think I'm stupid?" I asked.

"Do you think I'll murder you in cold blood and hide your body here?" He said with a sickish grin that made me feel he could.

"Kevin and Kanye are inside. They would never let me kill anyone. So you're safe," he said and entered inside. I waited as my plan formed carefully in my mind before entering.

Let's see who gets to surrender.

I walked into the cramped storage room, only to find my luggage there and my clothes spilled on the floor. Kai and Kanye were standing over my clothes while Kevin was racking through them. I hurriedly ran to him and pushed him aside.

"Are you sick? What the hell are you digging around in my bag for?" I yelled, and he stood up immediately.

"Definitely not for gold, unlike someone's mother," he said, and it took all the guts I had not to slap him. Screw this. It would probably ruin my revenge plan, but I would deal with it later.

"And what's wrong with being a gold digger, especially if there's no one who staked claim on it?" I asked, and Kanye scoffed.

He walked towards me, and Kevin shifted back.

"You're finally showing your true colours. I knew there was something maddening about you."

"Was this your plan all along? Did you know this?" He asked, and I almost scoffed.

"Why would you think I want to be siblings with you? I don't want to be associated with your weird family," I yelled, and he laughed.

"Should we teach you a lesson then?" Kai asked leisurely, kicking my box over like it weighed nothing.

This was it… I had to find a way to save myself.

"What are you going to do? You're not going to hit me, are you?" I asked, and he scoffed.

"Do you think we beat women?"

"You've done worse things than that," I spat out. They had threatened me with Cherry's lies about my past, stalked me among themselves, and made me fail a class last semester. I was only holding out until I got my revenge on Cherry. And it would be them next.

"So you know."

"If you mess with me, I'll review your dad's sex tape to the world," I said, and they paused and looked at each other. Kevin laughed then.

"Are you crazy?"

Maybe. Wanna know what I saw yesterday? Turns out not only the sons have weird kinks, but it was inherited. I walked in on your dad with my mom having BDSM sex. You want to find out what the whole world would say…?" I wasn't done when Kai lunged forward and grabbed my neck, pushing me to the wall.

I choked and tapped his hand frantically.

"Let her go," Kanye said, and Kai immediately left my neck.

Kanye walked towards me. "Let's say you did see something. What's proof you recorded it?"

There was no proof because I had just told a fucking white lie to save my skin. So I chose to provoke instead.

"You think I would show it to you or tell you if it was anywhere around here? Tell me, what did your dad do to my mother? It's really hereditary, isn't it?"

"Shut your mouth." Kanye's voice turned dangerously cold, but I was too high on my act to stop yet.

"You share women among yourselves, and your dad does BDSM. What more is the Bennett family hiding? Are you sure there's no secret? Is this just you threatening me because you don't want me as your stepsister?" I yelled, and the room quieted.

The sudden look of Kevin and Kanye's body reaction told me that I had said something I shouldn't.

I had blurted out nonsense, but was there really truth in what I said? Did they have secrets?

"What? Ice hockey gods do have secrets and share women? Maybe you should share me too and make a video of it so that we can ruin our parents' marriage."

"Sounds like a good idea," Kai said, and I blinked.

"What?" They were standing up and coming towards me. I had said everything in a daze. I hadn't even been thinking.

"Yes, we should fuck you and send the video to both our parents, or better still, on their wedding day. That's what you wanted, right? After the bet? My cock in your pants," Kevin said, and I saw Kanye stiffen.

"What bet?" He asked. They were all distracted, and I used the opportunity to push past them as fast as I could and ran out of the room.

I was stupid to even say something like that. I wasn't even sure I was going to leave this mansion without them catching up with me. I had made things worse… far worse.

Maybe it was for good. I had finally made them crack. I might just enjoy what came next while actively trying to survive.

But before I could reach the gate and the main building, my legs stopped as I saw Cherry walking out of the house.

She had been here?

Before I could turn, she spotted me, and her face contorted in a frown.

"Rina? What the fuck are you doing here?”
