Chapter Seven

Axel's POV

I did not understand what was going on. I couldn't believe what had just happened. Why had Aria said that she doesn't want to marry me? What could have made her change her mind so suddenly? I needed to talk to her, I needed to get the answers from her.

"Aiden, take me to Aria." I said as I started to push on Aiden who had been holding my arm the entire time.

"Axel, you need to calm down."I heard Aiden's calm voice say and I felt my patience slowly thinning.

"But I need to talk to Aria." I said.

"Listen to Aiden my dear, you need to calm down and we will sort this out." I heard my mother's voice speak up.

"I can't calm down mother, I can't calm down until I talk to Aria please try to understand!" I said calmly.

"Yes, we will go talk to Aria but first....." I didn't let my mother finish what she was saying.

"I want to go talk to Aria now, why can't you understand that?" I yelled.

"Okay son, we will go to Aria and try to talk to her." I heard my father say.

I was led outside and we all went to the car and drove to Aria's place. Along the way I kept on asking how far we were from the Watson mansion. I kept on contemplating all the possible reasons that would have made Aria to change her mind so suddenly as I felt my patience thinning as every second passed by and my heartbeat getting louder by the minute.

"We are here." I heard my father say and we got out of the car.

"Where is Aria?" I asked as soon as I heard the door being opened after we had rung the doorbell.

"Go... Good.....afternoon?" I recognized Lisa's stuttering voice. I wonder why she was stuttering, was she nervous or something? But I had no time for that, I was here to talk to Aria.

"Where is Aria?" I asked again not bothering to answer her greetings.

"Why don't we go in first?" I heard my father say and went inside the house. As soon as we had sat down I asked for Aria again.

"Actually, Aria is gone." Lisa said in a very low tone but I heard her though I don't think I had heard her clear enough.

"Pardon?" I asked standing up from my seat.

"Aria is gone." Lisa answered again and this time it was loud enough for me to here.

"What do you mean she's gone!" I yelled.

"She means Aria is gone."I heard Mr.Watson's deep voice boom throughout the room.

"Where has she gone to?"I heard my mother ask as I felt her hand on my arm.

"She has eloped with her lover."Mr.Watson said and I was shocked at what I heard.

"Eloped?" My father asked.

"Yes, apparently Aria had a secret boyfriend and none of us knew about it till today." Mr.Watson said.

"I don't believe this." My mother said. "I have known Aria ever since she was a little girl and she is not the kind of girl to do such a thing." My mother said.

"It was also hard for us to believe that but we eventually did when we found this in her room." Mr.Watson said.

"What is that?" My father asked.

"It's a letter, she left on her bed." Mr.Watson said.

"Read it out loud so that Axel can hear."Mr.Watson said and my mother began to read it.

I can't continue to pretend loving a blind person anymore, so I am eloping with the love my life, my boyfriend Erick.

"That's it." My mother said when she finished reading the letter.

She was pretending to love me all this time.

She had a boyfriend all along.

She never really loved me because I am blind.

I felt my head getting lighter and I started feeling dizzy.

"Axel!"I heard my mother's panicked voice as I felt strong hands holding me. That's when I realized that I had almost collapsed. I was so confused with everything that I didn't understand anything.

"Are you okay?" My father asked and I nodded my head.

"Do you need anything, like a glass of water?" My mother asked.

"No, I just want to go home." I said in a low voice.

"Okay, we will go. Aiden, please go get the car ready." My mother said.

"I am deeply sorry for my daughter's immoral act, it has also greatly affected us especially my wife."

"Where is Kristine?" My mother asked.

"She had fainted earlier after finding out that Aria has eloped, but the doctor checked her and she's now getting some rest."

"I hope she gets well soon." My mother said.

We were on our way outside when Mr.Watson's voice stopped us.

"I hope this won't affect our partnership Edward." He asked my father, and I wondered who would think about their work at a time like this.

"No, it won't Mark, you and I have been business partners for such a long time and I won't let someone else's actions ruin our relationship." My father said and we went away.

We got in the car and drove off. Everyone in the car was silent, each lost in their own thoughts. I felt a strange feeling that I had never felt before, it was a strange feeling, it was painful and so hurtful.

"Are you okay son?" My mother asked breaking the silence and pulling everyone out of their thoughts, but I did not bother to answer her, I just wanted to be alone.

We got home and went inside the house.

"Do you need anything Axel?" My mother asked but I still did not answer her.

"Maybe it's better if we left him alone for sometime." I heard my father say.

"But Edward, I want to be with him." My mother complained.

"We all do Natalie, but right now the best thing to do is to give him some space."

"Okay," my mother agreed, "stay with him Aiden, if he needs anything you assist him, okay?"

"Okay ma'am." Aiden's voice responded.

Aiden helped me sit down on the couch and I laid back. I was so confused, just a few days ago Aria and I were talking about how we couldn't wait to spend the rest of of our lives together and just a few hours ago, she said that she didn't want to marry me because I am blind.

"Hey Axel!"Aiden called me but I kept quiet.

"I know you can hear me Axel," he said but I still did not respond, "I just want you to know that I am always going to be here for you, no matter what happens."

Aiden had I had always been very close, since he was my helper I always got to go everywhere with him and that made us form a very strong bond. He was more like a brother to me than just a helper. My parents had hired him a seven years ago when I had turn eighteen, that was when they had bought me a car and because I am blind I could not drive it, and that is why they had hired Aiden to assist me.

"Aiden!"I called out and my voice came out as a croak.

"Yes Axel."

"Please take me to my room." I said and Axel took my arm and started leading me to my room.

We reached my room and he put me to sit on my bed.

"You can go now." I said to him.

"Okay, but if you need anything just call out my name." I just kept silence and did not answer him. I heard him sigh before he closed the door on his way outside.

I laid with my back on my bed and started thinking what I had done wrong to deserve all of this.

Is it a sin to be born blind?

Is it my fault that I was born blind?

I can't marry a blind person.

Aria's words kept on ringing in my head.

I don't love you and I won't marry you.

I hated this feeling, I had never experienced anything like this, it felt so painful and hurtful. My chest was in so much pain. I was heartbroken.

I sat up on my bed and wiped off the tears that had flown down my cheeks. I was not to sit around and cry for someone who doesn't value me. I am not going to be weak. I am going to make Aria pay for the pain she caused me.

I felt rage burning within me, it was as if my entire was on fire. The painful feeling had been replaced by the burning feeling within me. I started shouted very loudly.

"Axel! Axel! Axel, are you okay?" My mother asked as she came rushing in my room.

I kept silence as they continued to ask me if I was alright.

"Mum, dad," I called them breaking my silence, "I don't want to be blind anymore."
