Chapter Thirty One

Gabriel

I am surprised to find Arian waiting up for me when I walk into the house at around 11pm. She's seated on the single wingback chair in the hallway reading a book but she looks up at me and sends me a smile.

"Welcome home Mr Cruz." She rises to her feet and walks over to me to collect my laptop bag.

"Thank you." I say. "Were you waiting for me?"

"Um... Yes." She nods. "There's something I want to discuss with you."

"Is it serious? Let's go to my office."

"You should um... shower first and eat." She says. "You'll feel refreshed if you do that."

"I have already showered." I tell her. "And I've had dinner."

"Oh, that's good." She nods. "Let's go."

I lead her to my home office and open the door, letting her go in first before I walk in then shut the door. I go to take my seat but decide against it and settle down on the sofa then gesture for her to join me.
