One : New State

"So, where exactly are we going?" I asked my mom for the nth time for the day, we've been traveling for six hours now, and we pass Portland, we are formerly from Oregon, so Portland is the center of this state and we are about to enter I guess the Seattle.

"Vancouver" My mom said in monotone. I mouth gape open, wide eyes.

"Vancouver!" I shout/yelled. "Why you didn't tell me, can't we just took a plane? We're driving for almost half a day, when will we reach Vancouver?!"

"This what they call Road-trip." She said grinning at me then back to the road. I whined, she chuckle.

"But, we can took a plane then drive" I whined

"Where's the fun in there?" She grinned.

"Mom, you're to old for that 'fun' and --" I cut my word when her face saddened. "Fine! Road-trip it is, but can we stop for awhile, I am starving and my chips are almost done, can we grab something to eat and buy some snacks, you might night to refill the gas, it's almost empty, we will still be on the road for I think a day or two." I stated, her face lit up and smiles widely.

"Great idea! I'll look for a gas station, I know there's one, few miles away." I nodded.

And after half an hour, we reached a gas station and luckily with a diner beside it and a mini convenience store, good for many travelers.

"Go and buy some snacks then we're going to eat at the diner before we hit the road again." Mom said as we stop on the gas station. I hop out of the car and went inside the store.

I grab a basket then start filling it with different chips, cookies and chocolates, I took two soda can, juice and bottled water before falling in the line. When it's my turn.

"Travelers?" She ask politely, I smile at her and nod my head.

"How many are you?"

"Two, just my mom and I" I answer politely as I pay for my stuff.

"Take care." She smiles sweetly at me.

"Thank you -" I look at her name tag. "Claire" I smile at her. She giggle.

"No one bother looking at my name tag, you're the first." She giggled once more making me chuckle.

"Well, it's my honor." I winked at her, she blushed and I chuckle. "You're so cute." Her blush deepen, shaking my head as I left the store.

I walk straight back to the car just to place my stuff at the back seat.

"Go inside the diner and get our food already, I'll follow after." I nod at her.

"Okay."

As I enter the diner, the diner is quite full and their eyes flew towards me, I shrugged their stares away and make my way toward the cashier.

"Welcome to Traveler's Inn, how may I help you?" A man in his early twenties said with a welcoming smile.

"Oh. I would like to have ughm . what's your best dish? Maybe that's fine. For two please."

"Dine in or Take out?"

"Dine in."

"Right away!" He beamed. "Oh, please take seat, I'll deliver your meal afterwards." He call out of one of his co-worker and lead me to one of the vacant table, it is place near facing the forest. I gladly take the seat and muttered a "Thanks" to the waiter and wait for my mom and our order.

I always love the scenery of a forest, beach, and mountains.

"Boo!" I startled, clutching my chest where my heart is place.

"Geez! Mom!" She burst in to laughter.

I frowned at her. "You almost gave me a heart attack!" I pouted.

"Sorry sweetheart, I've been calling you for four times but you didn't bother to look at me." She chuckle as she took a sit across the table and just on time our food delivered. We say thank you to the waiter before digging on the food. We both moan in delight.

"This food is so great." Mom said as she eat continuously. I just agree to her.

"This is the be--" I was cut by the new comers of the diner, indeed this diner is very busy, note the food they serve. But what caught my attention is the man, in the middle, he's wearing gray long sleeve and a black tight pants, his jaw is firm and well shave, his lips, a little swollen. I smirked. "Playboy" I said to myself, then continue checking on him, his perfectly pointed nose and his long eye lashes. They won't see us for we are on the corner of the area and a little hidden too but then his eyes meet mine, his grayish mix black orbs. I gasps and looks away from him.

"Are you okay?" My mom ask, worried.

"Huh? Uh yeah. I am."

"You sure?"

I gave her a smile and nod. "Yep."

"Come on, we better leave so we can reach your aunt house by tomorrow." She hold my hand and drag me out of the diner, leaving a enough bill to pay our foods.

I take one last glance to the man earlier just to meet his gaze, I tore my sight away from him.

"I'll drive, you take a nap." I said, slipping on the driver side.

"Are you sure?" My mom ask looking at me.

"Yes, you're driving for the whole day, you need to sleep. Okay?"

She gave me a smile before slipping in the passenger seat. I took one last glance inside the diner and once again to be meet the gray eyes. His gaze sending shiver in my spine.

"Creepy" I muttered.

"Mate" I saw him mouthed, I rose my right eyebrow at him, he smile. I gasps. His smile, he looks more gorgeous in his smile.

I shook my head and start pulling the car on the parking lot and start hitting the gas.

Following the GPS map of our destination. Turning on the radio to help my mom sleep better and to help me forgot about the mysterious man with a gorgeous smile.

I, once promise not to fall in love with the playboy and womanizer. I learned my lesson.

The day I saw my ex boyfriend with the school's girlfriend doing the do, I start hating the opposite sex.

I lash out the memories away and start swaying my head and following the beat of the song.

Today my life begin ....
