When we leave the mall, I head back to Ash’s place to put my new clothes away. Then I pack for the night at Alex’s, as I finish packing I head down to say goodbye to Ash. When I walk into the kitchen and don’t find him I begin to panic. I walk through the whole house but don’t find him, when I finally get to his bedroom I can hear shuffling around. I guess that he wants to be left alone so I walk towards the front door. After two steps I hear him call my name and his bedroom door opens, I turn around just in time to see him emerge from his dark bedroom.
“I’m going to Alex’s now so I just come to say goodbye and goodnight.” “What do you mean goodbye?” He asks suddenly distressed “Only that I won’t see you for the rest of the day, so I was saying goodbye.” “Okay.’’ he replies a bit happier, glad that goodbye was not forever. Then he does something unexpected, he comes over and hugs me. He holds me tightly, not letting go, like if he lets go I would be gone forever. When he finally lets go I step back smiling “Goodnight, see you tomorrow.” And he nods. When I arrive at Alex’s place I don’t know what to expect, her house is always full of surprises. I go up to the door to find that it is already open, so I let myself in. I find her sitting on the couch in the living room eating biscuits. She looks up from the computer that she seems to be studying and says “Sit, we have a lot to talk about.” Ever since she asked me to stay at her place I’ve been dreading those words, what could she possibly want to talk about. I sit down on the couch beside her and wait for her to start. “You know how you told me about the nightmares you were having and that they started about a year ago.” “Yeah.” I say wondering where she’s going with this conversation. “Well I was looking it up on the Internet about three days ago and I found a peculiar website that had strange information on it. It was called Ma vista. I don’t know what that means but I think you are one of the three that live in the world at one time.” She looks over at me to see if I am comprehending what she’s saying, “They were created to stop monsters from destroying the human race, the website said that it started 4 thousand years ago when a wizard realised that the world was under threat, so he casted a spell that started the Ma vista’s. At first they fought as one, but when the oldest one died in battle, the second oldest turned on the third and killed him immediately. It was from that day that the Ma vista’s fought alone, it was more dangerous but they could never find each other. The second eldest – the one that killed its fellow Ma vista become evil and when he died, the monsters wanted a new master and an evil race of Ma Vista’s were born. I personal believe you are one of the Ma vistas reincarnated and I also believe that you are one of the good ones.” When she finishes I am completely speechless, she knows. Oh my goodness! She knows about me! I’m hoping she hasn’t worked out Ash. She would probably think he is the evil one. Finally I get the courage to say “Wow, you looked up all that information just for me, but I have to tell you something too.” She nods her head waiting in suspense “I have already found out what I am because when the explosion happened it was actually a monster and it killed my family and said to me “you are the last Ma vista to be born this century.” So that means I’m the last one to be born until another one dies.’ The look on her face is priceless. I think she thought it was just a made up story and that the nightmares would eventually end, but that’s not true. After 10 minutes of silence she speaks again “I didn’t want to believe it was true, because that means you are in danger and a monster could attack any day.” Well she certainly thinks that I have a great chance of surviving. When I ask “Do you think I should leave and go looking for these monster and kill them?” “No.” she replies quickly “Well at least not until we have researched more and you have learnt how to fight with a sword and bow and arrow as well.” The rest of the afternoon we spend looking up places where we can learn combat skills but when we find one she tells me something I’m not expecting. The place is called ‘Learn to defend yourself and kill your enemy.’ Well I think that’s a bit dramatic but I book myself in for a class in one weeks time along with Ash. He doesn’t know yet but I will tell him tomorrow. Finally when we have had enough of looking up battle camps. Alex declares that dinner is ready. So I set the table while she gets dinner out of the oven. Alex has always been a good cook, always cooking amazing meals every time I come over. When Alex tells me that I will need 3 seats at the table I think maybe Aaron’s coming over. But then someone knocks on the door and Alex answers it with a “Nicky it’s so good to see you.’ Oh, shit. Alex continues with ‘how was college?’ And Nicks saying “It was good.” Then Alex says “What happened to your face?” There’s a short pause before he says “I got in a fight at one of the petrol stations around here. Then they walk into the kitchen and they both stop walking when they see me sitting in the corner, Alex is thinking I’ve lost the plot and Nick thinks it’s because of the incident at the petrol station. After a quick frown he smiles a horrible, mean smile and says “What a lovely surprise. What are you doing here Natalie?” I don’t know how to respond at first but when I realise that he’s pretending we haven’t seen each other, I decide to go along with it. “I’m just staying for the night before I leave in a weeks time.” Alex nods, but Nick seems taken a back, he hasn’t expected me to be leaving town, but he probably doesn’t know about the explosion either. “Why are you leaving town, does your family know?” Well that answers my earlier suspicion. “I am leaving town because I have to, my family died in an explosion yesterday and I need to leave.” With that statement Nick seems horrified, like he can’t even remember the incident at the petrol station and is now in shock about the death of my family. Maybe it’s because it was the same day we had the fight or maybe he knows something else about the explosion. Nah I doubt it. Nick quickly apologises and we go along and finish dinner without any more conversation between us. We go to bed and in the morning Nick makes everyone breakfast. When Alex sees that I don’t have any shoes, she gives me half of her collection because we have the same shoe size. Finally I say goodbye and I’m on my way back to Ash’s house, which will now be my house as well for the next couple of weeks. After that we will have to figure the next step out together. I haven’t even taken 4 steps when Ash barges through the front door and picks me up in a gigantic bear hug.We continue cooking until we have all the plates full of food, then we call the group in to come and collect there food. While everyone devours there food there is only silence and a few mumbled thank you’s and this is delicious. Its not long before everyone retires to there beds. Ash and I stay up to do the washing before heading to our bedroom. Alex is already sound asleep on the ground. Quickly Ash and I grab our stuff and head to the bathroom. As we reach the bathroom we both stop as we realise that we haven’t had a shower before. Ash hesitates and looks at me. “Are you sure you want to do this now? We could do it once all this mess has blown over. It’s not long now until we will be free to do what ever we want.” I walk over to him and reach around him to turn the shower on. “Yes, I want to do this. Two reasons, one I want to be clean and two I love being with you and we haven't really had a chance to do that. So I’m going to make the most of this opportunity. You never know
Holding Ash’s hand as we walk back I don’t think the full outcome has hit us yet. We both seem to be more shocked then anything. The rest of the group follows behind us, minimum chatter echoes around us. Most of us just ready to have a sleep and wake up to realise that the battle is finally over and that we had won. Walking around the corner to Ash’s house I realise that we are going to have to try and find enough space for everyone to sleep cause his house isn’t as big as my old one, which had at least four bedrooms. Walking to the door I say, “Guys the plan is to get everyone through the shower, so that we can wash the remnants of the battle of us.While that is happening Ash and I will cook dinner as a way to thank you for everything that you have given up and lost throughout this last month.” Everyone voices there agreement. The Josh asks, “Where is everyone going to sleep?” “Ash, Alex, Cooper and I are going to discuss that as you guys all have showers and relax. All the clo
Quickly I head for the door and head out to find Ash. As I walk, I call Blue through the head and ask him if he would be able to teleport here just for a second to see if Cooper can still see them. He says yes and within seconds Blue pops up in the lounge room. Calling out to Cooper I say “Blues here if you would like to come out to the lounge room and see if you can see him.” Cooper replies with an acknowledging grunt before he continue rummaging through his stuff. Hurrying down the hall, I call out for Ash. It takes him five seconds to respond and not long after that I’m in his arms. I stand on my tippy toes and whisper in his ear everything that Cooper had just said. Excitement starts to shine in his eyes as he realises this could actually be the end of this war, we could finally have the winning ticket to this battle. As we stare at each other, we hear a scream of surprise from the lounge room. Looking at each other with worry, we race down the hall to see whats going on. St
Slowly reaching out a hand a tap softly on the door and wait for a response. “Ash, please go away. I know that you are only checking on me because Natalie would want you to, but I don’t want to talk to anyone at the moment. So just go away.” “If thats really what you want.” I say softly, I begin turning away listening to see if Cooper makes a move towards the door. I smile softly to myself when I hear the soft rustling of his footsteps on the carpet as he walks towards the door. He rips the door open and stops dead, his breathing comes out in short sharp breaths as if he doesn't know how to react to my unexpected visit. Slowly I take a step towards him. “Hey Coop...” I wait hesitantly before taking another small step towards him. “Can I come in and talk to you?” He looks around and down the hallway probably checking to make sure that Ash hadn’t been waiting to pounce and try and come into the room with me. “Yeah, I guess.” Slowly he takes a step back into the room and opens t
She lays her head on my shoulder as she tries to stop crying. “Why... why did the master have to do that?” she stutters as she tries to stop crying. “I guess, he thought by targeting the people that mattered to me the most that he could cause some problems with in the group. That you, would blame me for what happened to both of them and that you along with a lot of the others would leave me and Ash to fight by ourselves.” Alex shakes her head, “How could that possibly be your fault, if anything it makes me want to kill the bastard more.” The conviction in her voice startles me and I release a small laugh. “Yeah, he sure is a bastard. Alex I really just wanted to apologise about Nick and Aaron. If I had of been just a bit faster to get there I could have stopped the whole thing from ending like that. I could have shot Nick in the arm or leg. Which would have allowed Ash to grab him and Aaron would not have been injured.” Alex stares at me softly, before her eyes fill with t
Images continue to haunt me as I think about Lyrica and about Harvey and Andrew. They are dying for my cause and they don’t deserve that. Searching through the streets, I continue to come up empty handed, Cooper seems to be nowhere so I decide to walk home. I can hardly walk with the lack of energy that is flowing through my body, theres been to much anguish and heartbreak to push me through to the end of this war. I’ve been fighting for too long, this battle is taking too long and everyone I love is slowly dying. I walk passed my old house, well whats left of it, most of the ruins are ash and there are a couple of small fires that still lay around the area. The other houses that use to stand here too are now piles of rubble that the monsters have created. As I struggle to keep walking towards Ash’s house my body aches. It’s like every pain you could ever imagine happening all at the same time, well except when you go into labour. I don’t think I quite feel that much pain. Image
