Chapter Four

Chloe’s POV

I didn’t speak much when we got back to the dorm that night. Ena didn’t ask any questions. She just walked in, pulled out a pack of ice from our mini freezer, and pressed it into my hand.

“Put this on your face,” she said softly.

I stared at her for a second, then nodded. My cheek still burned where Anne slapped me earlier, and honestly, I was still trying to process everything.

What's up with her sudden change in behavior? Was it because I stood up for he today.

Ena sat on her bed, legs crossed, her eyes distant.

“She’s not going to stop, you know,” she said after a while. "I had warned you not to interfere in my life. You will end up quitting."

The room went silent before I decided to utter another word.

"I am not that weak, you know?" I slowly removed the ice pack, placing it on my legs. "I know we are omegas, but I wasn't the type to just give up easily." I made it clear to her shrugging off my hands.

“She picks the weak ones. Especially Omegas. The school lets her get away with it because of who her parents are."

“Why did she slap you?” I finally asked changing the topic.

Ena let out a bitter laugh. “Because I breathed wrong. It has always been their way since thighs and I guess I am sure to everything already.”

That wasn’t funny. But I knew she wasn’t joking.

"Oh shit— that must have been really terrible."

"Oh yeah! It was." Those smiles on her face weren't genuine. I wasn't a fool to be able to tell. "What about you what high school did you attend? I have never come across you before."

"I was homeschooled." I replied to her. She suddenly stopped smiling, as she sat up right abruptly. I didn't say anything wrong, did I?

"Are you kidding right now? What kind of omega gets homeschooled?" She questioned. Her eyes were still widely opened.

Oh shit! That slipped out of my mouth accidentally.

"Uhm, I was loved by the Luna of my pack so I got opportuned to be homeschooled alongside with her kids." I lied.

"If I may ask, who are the triplets everyone has been talking about?" A part of me was curious about them.

"You'd definitely see them soon now that you have gotten onto her bad side. You'd also get to know a lot about them as times goes on." She laid into her back.

"Their school is free insane.."

She looked at me then. “You haven’t seen anything yet.”

I swallowed. She wasn’t lying.

That night, I barely slept. Not because of Anne, but because of something else—someone else.

The man from the ring. The one I ran into. His scent wouldn’t leave me. I kept asking myself how the hell he was in the same school as me. Was that even normal? Did mates just show up like this?

Was I even ready to face him? If I ever did come across him, was I going to ask him for the ring immediately.

Orientation day would be tomorrow. I wondered how it was usually done too.

---

Orientation day came like a storm. Loud, crowded, annoying.

Ena and I walked down the hallway with our schedules in hand. Everything felt normal—until it didn’t.

Something fell off, my instinct usually come in handy sometime.

Students were staring. Whispers. Laughter. Quick glances followed by smirks. Was this because of what has happened yesterday?

I frowned. “What’s going on?”

Ena didn’t answer.

I took one more step—and then it happened.

My foot caught on something. A rope. My whole body flew forward before I even had time to scream. I hit the ground face-first, right into a giant bowl of raw eggs someone had planted there.

The sound of my fall echoed in the hallway, followed by a loud burst of laughter.

I stayed down for a second, my hair dripping with raw eggs, my pride shattered.

When I finally managed to sit up, I looked up and saw her, Anne. Standing a little far off, arms crossed, a satisfied look on her evil face.

I wasn’t surprised. No— I was surprised to an extent. I never thought they were going to take things this far.

I turned slightly and saw Ena standing behind me. She looked guilty. Her eyes avoided mine.

She knew. She knew what was going to happen.

But she hadn’t warned me. The student knew what was going to happen except from me. It was more like I was left in the dark.

Anne walked past us slowly, then turned and smiled sweetly at Ena.

“You’re glowing today, Ena. So pretty.”

I looked at Ena. She didn’t smile back. But she didn’t say anything either.

I didn’t blame her.

We both knew she had no choice. She was just a victim just like me too.

The hallway was still filled with whispers and laughter when another sound cut through it.

Footsteps.

Firm. Sharp. Heavy.

Murmurs broke out.

“One of the triplets is here.”

“Why’s he coming this way?”

“No way… is he—?”

My heart started racing. My body moved on its own as I turned. Ena had told me that he was going to come for me. Was this finally it?

He was there.

The one from that night. The coldest, strongest of them all—Damian. I stared at him as he walked while the vro d parted their ways for him.

That same.scent that has been driving me crazy for the past one year. That was it and it could recognize it straight away.

Damian couldn't possibly be my mate, could he? He was the one who had stolen the ring from me the other night.

It was because of him my dad had forced me to come to this school. I rushed towards him, ignoring everything else. I knew I had smelled so bad right now, but I didn't really care about it.

I was standing right at his front right now. I slowly bit my lips while I waited for him to say something, but he didn't.

I broke the silence between us first.

"You were the one that night, right? Do you remember me?" I stared into his hazel eyes, blinking my eyes several times while I hoped he was going to reply but he still didn't.

It was starting to get annoying.

"Say something! You know you are my mate!"

Murmurs filled the air. Who'd want to believe this bullshit I had just said? Who'd want t believe that I was mated to him? No one.

To them I was just an useless omega since none of them knew my real identity, or maybe I was wrong? What if my mate knew my real identity all along?

I knew people were saying harsh things at the moment, but I didn't want to pay attention to them. I just wanted the hear the truth from him alone.

His squinted his face in disgust.

"I know I smell. Say something at least." Tears gathered in my eyes. My teeth dug into my lips and I might start bleeding.

“Did you steal a ring from me that night?” I asked, voice cracking lower than usual hoping no one was going to listen to us.

He didn’t answer. Just stared.

The silence stung more than the fall..Then two more figures stepped out of the crowd.

Identical in power. Radiating that same scent. That same pull.

My breath caught.

I stepped back, dizzy. No way!

No.

No way.

All three of them… were my mates. I could immediately tell this was the beginning of my downfall.

I was mated to the three brothers? The moon goddess must be playing with my heart right now.
