Chapter 20

Damon silently sneered. Since that woman valued sisterhood that much, he obviously could not let her down.

"Damon, stay here tonight. Accompany the child and me, will you?" Madison gently leaned her head against his chest.

Damon did not move away. Instead, he raised his hand and grabbed her waist. "Okay, I’ll stay."

Madison was surprised and delighted. She stood on tiptoe as she tried to give him a peck on his face, but he turned his face calmly and pushed her onto the bed. The bedroom door was not closed, and Jeanette happened to catch a glimpse of everything when she walked past the door.

That night, Damon slept in the master bedroom and did not come out. At the same time, Jeanette stood in the corridor for a long, long time until her legs were numb.

"The wind feels so cold tonight," she muttered to herself.

It was already the next morning.

When Madison got up in the morning, Damon had already left. His side of the bed was neat and tidy—it was not touched at all.

Initially, Madison had been annoyed by how big the bed in the bedroom was. If two people were to lie on the bed, the distance between them would be wide enough to fit the entire Atlantic Ocean.

However, she had later realized that Damon had no intention of going to bed at all. He had just been sitting on the sofa by the window and reading all night. He would rather read a book than look at her!

In that case, why had he even stayed in the bedroom for the night?

Madison was irritated, but when she walked out of the room, she put on a smile.

Jeanette happened to come out of the guest room. When Madison saw her, she touched the back of her waist and greeted. "Good morning, sister. How did you sleep last night?"

There were obvious red blood vessels in Jeanette’s eyes. It was apparent that she had not slept well. On the other hand, Madison stretched lazily.

"I didn't really sleep well last night, Damon…" When she said that, she purposely showed a shy smirk. "Anyway, sister, take extra care of me today. My back is so sore."

Jeanette said coldly, "Since you moved in here because of your pregnancy, you should be more careful. Don't be greedy and hurt the baby in your womb because you’ll get kicked out."

"You…" Jeanette turned around to head to work without looking at Madison. Although her life was in utter chaos, work still had to be done.

She walked out of the house and was about to take a taxi, but a black luxury car stopped in front of her. The window slowly rolled down, and Damon said coldly, "Get in."

Jeanette was taken aback as she wondered, ‘Why was he here? Didn't he leave early?’

She had heard the sound of his car driving out of the front yard in the morning.

Damon obviously did not have much patience with her, so he repeated coldly, "Get in."

Jeanette did not dare to refuse, and she was about to be late for work, so she got into the car. The car sped along the way, and Jeanette wanted to ask Damon what was wrong with him during the journey.

Why would he so kindly send her to work?

However, when she saw his cold and gloomy face, she did not dare to say a word.

Jeanette said, "Just drop me off at the junction, I'll get off and walk over—"

Before she could finish speaking, Damon suddenly hit the brakes and stopped the car abruptly on the side of the road. He then freed his hand to grab her wrist aggressively!
