Mila stood in front of the enormous bedroom door, her fingers tracing the intricate pattern of the wood.

The room was luxurious beyond words, but the coldness in the air made everything feel sterile, distant. This wasn’t home. This wasn’t her choice everything felt foreign to her.

She didn’t know what to expect—what he expected—of her, but she knew this wasn’t the life she imagined.

The bed was massive, the furniture elegant, but the whole place felt more like a display than a place to live. The silence was deafening.

The sound of a knock broke through her thoughts. For a split second, her heart skipped, thinking it might be Zayden.

She quickly smoothed out her clothes, walking briskly toward the door, feeling a wave of nervous energy.

But when she opened it slightly, she was met by a woman in a maid’s uniform, smiling politely.

"Mila Cross?" the woman asked with a quiet, warm tone.

Mila blinked, then slowly nodded, taken aback by the woman’s unexpected presence. "Yes?"

Mila’s heart was pounding in her chest as she entered the sleek, imposing building of Cross Corp. The polished floors gleamed beneath her feet, reflecting the coldness of the towering glass windows that seemed to imprison her as much as the situation. She had never felt so small in her life. The world outside felt distant, like a dream, while inside—this building, this room, these papers—felt like her nightmare coming to life. She took a deep breath, trying to steady herself as she walked toward the large glass conference room where Zayden Cross, the man she had been reluctantly tied to, waited for her. She couldn’t even escape if she tried. Her entire future was sealed by the signature she was about to put down. Zayden was already there, standing by the windows, his back to her. His suit was perfectly tailored, his posture rigid and confident. Everything about him screamed control—his sharp jaw, his cold demeanor, the air around him like an impenetrable wall. Mila hated it.

Mila grabbed the rag, wiping down the counter with quick motions. She was tired, but not just physically. Mentally, emotionally. It had been one of those shifts. Brew Theory was a place where people came to hide from the world, but tonight, Mila could barely keep her own thoughts from drowning her. Just as she was about to grab her bag and leave, she heard the rumble of an engine, heavy and low. The sound felt too deliberate, too unsettling for a normal car. She turned toward the window. A black SUV parked out front. No way. The man who got out didn’t belong here. Zayden Cross Thornhart. The name alone sent shivers down her spine. She’d seen him around—his face plastered on billboards, in the papers, all over the city. CEO of CrossCorp and Thornhart Enterprise. Rich. Dangerous. Untouchable. And now, he was standing outside her cafe. Mila shook her head, trying to stay calm. But she couldn’t. She quickly grabbed her phone, her fingers slipping as she checked a text from Caleb. T

Timothy grinned shyly, though the worry didn’t completely fade. “Still… I want to look nice. Really, really nice. What if she thinks I’m messy?”Cassy raised a brow in mock seriousness. “Messy? You?” She gasped dramatically. “Timothy Kaelson, are you telling me you don’t trust your fashion sense?”He laughed, covering his mouth. “Nooo, it’s just… I don’t know what to wear! Dad always picks boring stuff — shirts and trousers and ties.” He wrinkled his nose. “Grandma’s coming all the way from another country. I want to look like… like a prince!”Cassy chuckled again, gently tugging his hand as they reached his room. “Then we’ll find something that’ll make you look like one. After all, you have more clothes than anyone I know.”The door creaked open, and they stepped into Timothy’s room — bright, neatly arranged, and far too big for a child his age. The large window overlooked the garden, the morning breeze fluttering the sheer curtains. His bed was perfectly made, his toys arranged on t

The sound of footsteps pounded like drums behind her, rhythmic and thunderous, chasing her deeper into the dense, colorless woods. Trees bled shadows. Branches reached like fingers. The wind howled through the skeletal limbs, whispering warnings Mila couldn’t ignore. “Run!” came the voice again—urgent, familiar, and raw. Ella’s voice. “Run, Mila! Don’t stop! Don’t let him catch you!” Her legs burned. Her chest ached. Each breath tasted like rust and fire. But she didn’t stop. She couldn’t. Behind her, a shadow—tall, hulking, shifting with every snap of twig and crunch of dried leaves—closed in. His presence felt like gravity, pulling her down, threatening to smother her with the weight of dread. Her arms flailed through branches. Her heartbeat thundered louder than her fear. “Faster, Mila! Faster!” Tears streamed down her cheeks, blurring her vision. Her foot caught a root, and her world tumbled forward—pain lancing through her knee as she crashed against a jagged tree trunk

The venue shimmered beneath golden lighting, an elegant harmony of sleek marble, velvet curtains, and a runway that glowed like starlight. Guests were gathered—executives, designers, press, and fashion enthusiasts—all waiting, eyes glittering with anticipation. The large white banner above the stage read: “Internal Enterprises Presents: Mila Label – The Future of Fashion.” Then the music shifted. A soft hum of drums rolled into a gentle crescendo as a group of builders stepped onto the runway. Clad in signature black utility outfits embroidered with the brand’s emblem, they began unveiling the intricate panels Mila had spent weeks designing. Seamless, futuristic. A fusion of innovation and beauty. A manifestation of her vision brought to life. And then she walked out. Mila. Wearing a tailored white pantsuit that shimmered with silver undertones, her hair pinned up in a sleek bun, minimal makeup, yet breathtaking in presence. The applause was deafening. She paused at the edge of
