Claire’s POV

It wasn’t until they motioned to the waiting black town car outside that it’s fully sank in. I hadn’t packed a bag. I only had my phone and my keys to my still-empty apartment.

“Wait, what do you mean we’re leaving now?” I demanded. I wasn’t going to be taken to an unknown place until I got some answers.

They exchanged a look before looking at me.

“Miss Anderson, You’ll be briefed in the car. We’ve wasted enough time as it is,” he explained.

His partner, who was taller, older, and slightly more sympathetic, added a nod before his phone rang and he went to the side to pick it. I wondered if it was my father calling to find out if they had found me.

My father. That sounded weird.

“Yes, boss,” was all I could hear as he turned around, shoving the phone back in his pocket.

“It’s imperative we leave immediately. You will understand everything soon,” the shorter man explained.

“And it is imperative that you tell me what is happening so I can go with you if it is necessary,” I c

  • No One Like You    Chapter 12. A strong headed woman

(Luca Delacroix POV)I didn’t wait for her to come up with a comeback. That sharp tongue of hers was something that both turned me on and infuriated me at the same time. I made sure to take her straight to my room.Although the entire time she kept glaring at me, I was stronger—and if she knew what was good for her, she would make the right choice by following me.As soon as we were in my space, I shut the door and she yanked her hand away from mine.“This is kidnapping! You are all insane!” she hissed, her chest rising and falling in that hypnotic way she always did whenever she was in my presence.I exhaled slowly, trying to cool off the molten lava that was going to erupt from me. I was hurt she would think I would even kidnap her. Although I don’t doubt that I could use such methods if she wasn’t my sister.“You’re not a prisoner, Gemita Roja. What I would like to know is, why are you acting like a cornered animal?” I muttered. She crossed her hands in front of her with defiance.

  • No One Like You    Chapter 11: I am leaving

(Claire's POV)My vision turned red in an instant. What did he mean by I can’t? Who was he to dictate my life? He hadn’t even been in it for the past years.“What did you say?” I asked, my voice a bit louder than usual. He looked up from his plate at me. “You heard me, Claire.”My hands clenched into fists. “Victor, Maddie’s not just anyone to me. She is my family. She’s the only person that was there when you were not there for me. She understands me best.”Victor’s fork clattered on the plate as he glared at me. “Yet she does not own this house—I do. The whole damn place is mine. There are rules you must follow, young lady. There are boundaries you must not cross.”I stood up, the force pushing my chair backward. “You talk about boundaries? You’re a hypocrite! You dragged me here without warning, dropped some lame fortune at my feet like it meant something, and now you feel you are entitled to who I can and cannot see? Where were you when I was starving with Maddie? Where were you w

  • No One Like You    Chapter 10: No you can't

(Claire’s POV)“So you don’t trust me, huh? What I would like to know is why you let me lick you so good. You whimpered all night long,” Luca said, his words so vulgar my core throbbed in response. What a bad response. He cornered me at a space under the stairs. His frame blocked out all the air—and my thoughts included. His scent was male cologne mixed with danger and heat. As I moved to give myself some space, I realized I was already against the wall. He was far too close for my health. His eyes were so intense, it was like they were looking into my very soul. His gaze moved over my mouth and a little lower.“So you end up in bed with random men you don’t trust? Or was that just a convenient mistake?” he asked, his words mocking me.I wasn’t going to give him the satisfaction of an answer. If he wanted me to break, he had to try a lot harder.“So you won’t say anything, gemita roja?” he asked.I was tempted to clarify that my name wasn’t whatever he was calling me, but I held mysel

  • No One Like You    Chapter 9: A sister

Luca Delacroix – POV“Luca, come on in, my boy, and meet your sister. Her name is Claire,” my father said, gesturing with a smile I had never seen him wear before.“My sister?” I repeated after him as I moved closer to where they were and picked a seat close to my father’s desk.Ivy, no, Claire was seated directly in front of me, frozen in place. She had to be as shocked as I was. Her throat bobbed, and I had the urge to wrap my hands around it.Wait. What was I thinking? She was my sister. A sister I definitely wanted to sink my claws into and make her moan my name so our father would hear.Fuck. I had it bad.Her chest rose and fell, which got me hypnotized.“I’m so glad your sister is here with us now. Good job on finding her,” my father commented.‘Sister’ was all that echoed in my head as my father kept talking. She lowered her lashes, trying to hide from the truth. But she would learn—not to hide from me.“I am glad she is with us now,” I said, masking my true feelings with a sm

  • No One Like You    Chapter 8: Discovering her

Luca Delacroix – POVMy private jet began to taxi down the runway. I had claimed my seat. Despite the luxury that cocooned me, my mind wasn’t on that flight. My attention was focused on the blood red jewel that sat in my palm.Damn, it was beautiful.I turned it slowly between my fingers, examining it carefully—how the lights bounced off every cut, every facet. It wasn’t a particularly large stone, but it was mesmerizing. Symmetrical, deep in color, and unnervingly flawless.I was hardly impressed by anything, but this one had my full focus.“Delicate little thing,” I murmured to myself, running my thumbs over its smooth edges. It wasn’t just a gem. It was something else—something that stirred a strange itch under my skin. It was significant. It was significant to my father. He had searched for this gem for quite a long time. While he searched for it relentlessly, I always wondered why it was so important.“Sir?”A familiar voice snapped me out of my daze. I looked up and saw Ariana.

  • No One Like You    Chapter 7: Meeting him

Claire’s POVI froze in place when I heard California. My knees weakened and I dropped back into my seat in defeat. I had never been there before. My life was built in New York. What the hell was waiting for me on the West Coast?I clenched the armrest so tightly my knuckles were white. I stared through the oval window, watching as the clouds swallowed the ground. In a few hours, we had touched down in California. My eyes felt heavy. I hadn’t slept the night before, and I hadn’t eaten. All I did was sit rigid in the leather seats, watching the sky change while everything around me was unrecognizable.A black SUV waited for us just beyond the runway. Another driver. No explanations. I had lost the fight to ask them for more explanations. The warmth of the car kissed my skin. My thoughts were too loud. I wanted to scream. We drove in silence, past orchards and vineyards. Finally, we came to an iron gate with a massive building a few miles away. I sat so close to the window, my hands we
