Celeste’s POV

I watched Julie and her butler leave in a daze.

My heart glowed with joy. By some miracle, my career had been saved. Good things still happened, and for once, they were happening to me.

Bill turned to me, and his arrogance and disdain vanished into thin air. He flashed me a fawning smile, sidling closer with glittering eyes.

“I’m absolutely relieved that’s all cleared up.” He said, placing a hand over his chest. “From the moment we met, I’ve known you had a distinct and trustworthy character.”

My mouth fell open. This man had just done a full one-eighty.

Grace folded her arms over her chest.

“So that eviction notice was a token of trust?” she asked, her tone scathing.

“That was a simple misunderstanding.” He waved his hand with nonchalance. “I was only concerned that these untrue rumors and your damaged reputation would affect the property value. But all is well now that the truth is out.”

Celeste’s POVBill looked down his nose at me. “You’re a fraud, Rosemary. The swarm of negative reviews, scathing online articles, and countless celebrities swearing off your brand proves it.”Each word hit me like a sledgehammer. He dug in his pocket and then tossed something at my feet like it was trash. I inhaled sharply, immediately recognizing the pair of earrings I’d designed.“My wife won’t even wear these anymore!” Ryan stepped closer to me. “Take it easy, buddy.”Bill glared at my assistant, enraged. But he sized up the lean, towering man and decided he would, in fact, take it easy.“We always pay our rent on time and have not once violated our lease agreement. You can’t evict us for no good reason.” Grace argued.“Your products are being boycotted and my other tenants–who are reputable business owners–are suffering by association,” Bill screeched, face blotchy with anger. “They’ve been coming to me in droves to complain that sharing a building with you is damaging their comp

Celeste’s POVI froze in disbelief at the absolute nonsense Ryan was spouting. How could he accuse me of pushing him away for Damien when he was the one with the girlfriend?“I’ll take your silence as confirmation,” he said, voice hoarse.I spun around to face him, eyes flashing with anger and hurt.“Cut the crap Ryan. You’re the one who went off and got a new girlfriend a week after we slept together.” I said coldly. “I wish you happiness in your new relationship, but like I told you, I’m not looking for anything right now. Not with you and sure as hell not with Damien.”“Is that really how you feel?” He asked and something dark lurked within his voice. “Then why were you at the amusement park with Damien last night? You were walking around like one big happy family.”A shiver raced across my skin, and I narrowed my eyes with challenge and suspicion.“Are you seriously stalking me now?”I could see his anger bubbling below the surface, just waiting to snap. A twisted part of me wanted

Celeste’s POVI chewed on my lip, nails digging into the back of Grace’s chair, as she refreshed the order page for the hundredth time this morning. I shut my eyes and held back a string of curse words. Not a single one.“Any word from Celine?” I asked, my voice weak even to my own ears.I heard her clicking on her mouse and then a heavy sigh. “Why isn’t she responding?” Grace muttered anxiously. “Yesterday’s meeting went well, didn’t it?”Our lives were back-to-back meetings with clients, hunting after suppliers, burning the midnight oil to design and craft our jewelry in time. And in a matter of days, we had been reduced to this. Eyes glued to Grace’s computer screen, waiting for a single email.“Maybe she needs more time.” I said, attempting to be optimistic.I couldn’t stare at that screen without screaming a second longer. Sighing, I went to stand by the window and looked out at the street below with empty eyes. If I let myself feel my despair, I would succumb to it.The silen

Third-Person POV“All men cheat, Celeste. It’s a simple, unavoidable aspect of male biology you can’t hold against me.” Damien’s sneer dripped with condescension. “The only mistake I’m guilty of is getting caught.”Celeste’s fist clenched around her bag of candied popcorn, spilling a rainbow of colors on the floor. She couldn’t comprehend how he always avoided accountability.“You’re vile,” she spat, body trembling with fury. “I’m thankful every day that I walked into that fitting room and found you with that whore.”He chuckled scathingly. “Because you think you’ll be happy with that poor boy, Ryan? You’re a fool if you believe he’ll be any different, sweetcheeks.”The image of Ryan walking arm in arm with that beautiful woman flashed through her mind. He couldn’t have cheated on her because they were only boss and assistant, Celeste knew that, and yet she still felt the deep ache of betrayal.“He’s nothing like you,” was all she could say.“Unfortunately for you, that’s too true.” Da

  • No Way to Win Me Back   Chapter Ninety Seven

Celeste’s POVThe sun was low in the sky as I stood outside the amusement park, clutching the Children’s Day gift I’d prepared for Bonnie after my mother’s visit. She was right. Bonnie needed to see her parents could get along like two mature adults. But that didn’t mean I wasn’t dreading this evening with Damien. All I wanted to do after bumping into Ryan on a lunch date with his gorgeous girlfriend and then walking straight into that stressful meeting with Celine was curl up in bed.“Mommy!” a sweet voice called out, making me look up.Bonnie let go of her father’s hand and raced to me with a huge smile on her little face. I held out my arms to hug her, but she grabbed the gift bag from my hands instead.“You got me a present!” she squealed, pulling out the mermaid picture book and a set of pearl studs. Her excitement dampened, making my heart heavy.“It’s not as cool as the magic tail mermaid doll Auntie Vanessa bought me, but thank you.”I caught the victorious smirk that flashed
