The streets of Birmingham, were at their best on a fine May evening when flowers burst out of beautification troughs along the avenues and split from vendor carts. The scents of them nearly overpowered the stinks of exhaust as streets and traffic air clogged both roads and skyways.Young danced and leapt over the public sports courts, working up healthy, sweat balls and hoops and pegs.Airbuses carted patrons to the sky mall, cruising with their endless streams of chatter.
