“Are you from the pack?” asked Hero. “I’ve never seen you before.”

Ophelia felt sudden alarm at Hero’s words, though she knew he meant no harm by the question, she couldn’t help but break into a cold sweat. She didn’t dare to spare a glance at Noah, the ocean-eyed boy was holding his gaze firm at her. She hated causing problems to the Alpha and Luna who were nothing but kind to her, but she couldn’t find the words to spit a lie.

“She’s a guest of our family,” said Noah, after a moment of silence.

Ophelia held her jaw from dropping, she hadn’t expected Noah to jump in for her rescue.

“She’ll be staying with us for a while,” Noah continued.

Hero blinked a couple of times, Ophelia couldn’t read his blank expression. When he nodded with a hum, she let go of a relieved sigh.

“Alright,” Hero started. “That explains the part why you have been ditching me for a week.”

“I guess I’ll let that slide,” Hero continued, not leaving room for Noah to argue.
