MIRIAM'S POV
We eventually left the place after he had tried explaining things to me on how he was certain he was my mate. I know I come from a pretty weird family but could my life and family get any weirder? I actually agreed to follow him home and surprisingly he already knew the way to my house and I accredited that to the fact that he did say after all that he had been monitoring me longer than I could ever imagine. It had been a few weeks actually because when we got closer, he told me everything and for how long. Well he left me in front of my house but then came down as mother stood there in front of the porch.
"You finally found your bride now haven't you?" she asked
"Ma'am please let me take your permission to woo your daughter." he had said like the most gentleman in the world.
I was totally floored especially when my mother agreed to his wooing me. Well I did give Eli a tough time but he made mine even more tougher at school as he started showing up around me and had successfully scared away all males from me. It seemed like he carried this dominance that made him keep them away and soon everyone knew me to be his woman. I later learnt that he used to be the all time ladies favorite in the school and how disappointing it was for the other ladies when they found out that he was hanging out with me. Gradually our weird relationship started blossoming with Eli being everything for me.
We did fight occasionally. It was just natural but he found a way to appease me and I realized that with each fight, I got to know him better unlike my current husband who has been nothing but the perfect guy. He never actually fought with me and would rather admit that he was wrong. Even when I tried to prickle him knowing I am at fault, he would still take all the blame. That was the contrast between him and Eli.
The relationship between Eli and I united both our families even after college and before then, we were already officially together. Did I mention we won prom. Eli transformed me and together we were crowned prom king and queen. That was a dream I used to think I would never accomplish. When I had started writing and working, Eli encouraged me and he would keep pushing me until I released that book. We were inseparable and I had come to learn his secrets and that of his family. His father was the pack's alpha making Eli the next in line and he already was beginning to show signs of dominance. I also learnt that mine was a family of seers although there was only one seer in each generation and that happened to be my older sister who was just like my mom. I was just an ordinary human like my dad with nothing special except the fact that I was mated to a werewolf.
Going forward to the night of my birthday. It was a celebration as I was turning eighteen and both families came together to eat at Eli's. We both were there but in the course of the celebration, he happened to have pulled me away saying he needed to talk to me. I let him give me the fastest piggy ride into the woods where we used to spend our time together. The very woods where I had given him my virginity. We got in there and I felt it within my guts that he was going to propose. Eli was with me and we were sitting by our favorite tree in each other's arms when barely a few minutes after we had gotten there, he received a phone call. He had muttered that he was going to put it off but when he looked at the screen, he decided to take the call. Up until now, I have no idea who had been calling him but he got up quickly and I almost followed suit when he asked me to stay back. He made me a promise at that moment.
"Stay here Miriam, I'll be right be. Whenever I return, I'll take you and you would be mine forever." he said
"Swear it." I said
"It's a promise and I swear," he said.
I smiled and felt really excited when he said that as he sped away while I sat down staring at the moon and being thankful to the heavens that soon I would officially be his woman and we could start making the family we promised to ourselves. I waited for a very long time into the night and at a point I had woken up to something that sounded like a growl. I could have sworn even to this day that in the reeds opposite me, I had seen a pair of red eyes glowing at me which at the time was nothing like Eli's yellow pair. When I blinked, it was no longer there nor was the growling but the reed had been shaken. I became really scared as I could no longer wait for Eli there where I was feeling unsafe. I rose up abruptly and started away from the woods realizing how far into the woods we were. We used to come here to get away from people and sounds except those of nature.
It was a really cold night and I continued walking through the night. At one point I had gotten exhausted and I woke up the next morning to see two pairs of beautiful gray eyes peering at me to see if I was alright. It was Jason and apparently he had been out hunting when he found me. He decided to help lead me home where I was met with the most devastating news in my life.
There had been a fire at Eli's. There had been no survivors. All of his family and all of mine had been consumed in that fire and funny enough neither Eli nor his corpse were seen. A search for him was conducted but from what it would seem, Eli had run away. It was the most heartbreaking moment of my life that I had lost everything and everyone in one night.
Eventually Eli had been declared wanted as the sheriff said that evidence was pointing out that he just might have carried out the arson for personal reasons especially after they were told he had been with me in the woods.
I never saw Eli after that and I sank into absolute depression.
MIRIAM'S POV I could say nothing to anyone for a long time and the only person there to comfort me was the handsome stranger that found me in the forest. You could imagine how shattered I was to keep living in the house which used to be lively with the sound of my family members. It was torment for me and at a point I became suicidal as I had begun blaming myself for all my woes. It was my fault they had died as had I not gotten entangled with someone like Eli, stuff like that would not have happened. I attempted suicide twice and was nearly successful with one had Jason not interrupted. He was there to wrap my slitted wrist with a cloth and took me to the hospital. When the doctors had spoken that it was too deep, he had snuck into my ward and poured some of his werewolf blood over my wrist. It did not heal all through but lessened the damage that I had done to myself. That actually was how I discovered that I was yet entangled with another werewolf. I wanted him gone but then he ne
"Who are you calling a murderer?" Jason demanded with so much anger in his eyes as he rose up abruptly.I was already prepared to step up."You buddy. How about you tell her about that night?" Eli asked him"What night? What is he talking about Jason?" I asked my husband"Nothing, he's full of lies Miriam. Let's send him away." Jason said"Or we could both tell our sides of the story." Eli said"There is no story to tell." Jason yelled"Oh but there is and I have a lot to say for that night fifteen years ago." Eli said"You're delusional." Jason said to him"Am I?" Eli demanded"Enough both of you. We are going to take these things out without waking the kids or alerting the neighbors who by the way if you have forgotten are all humans." I said, reminding them when I noticed the change in their eye colors. It took some time but then they both calmed down or rather pretended to calm down as they returned to their seats. I was glad I was beginning to get a hang of the situation but if I
"He's a liar, Miriam. This is why I insisted on letting him go." Jason suddenly screamed. It was clear something was amiss. In all my time with Jason, he has never done anything that would make me suspect him of anything like this as he happened to be the most calm person ever. At this point I had no idea what I should believe anymore but I needed to hear at least Jason's side of the story. That should be enough to make me decide but if I was being honest, right now I feared that a lot of things about me might be a lie. I calmed myself down and then turned to stare at Jason."J you said you found the necklace at the cliff right?" I asked him"You don't believe me?" he asked me suddenly squinting his eyes"Wait, the necklace of us both which he stole from my neck before wrapping that damned plant around my neck?" Eli suddenly asked me"Enough Eli!!! I'm talking to my husband right now." I screamed at Eli suddenly and honestly I felt bad about doing that. I knew I had hurt his feelings
JASON'S POVA banshee? This is impossible.I could not believe that this was the case right now. I had been living with my family's impending doom all these years and even dared to have children with her. I recalled how I had made certain to find out that she had no powers before pulling off the attack on their family. Yes, Eli just might have stated everything as truthfully as possible but seriously, what did I care about it?Years back, we had been working against the other pack of wolves and rounding them off as my family sought just one thing and that was dominance. I mean, we wolves were not wolves for nothing as it was clear what our supremacy was. To think that our kind hid in the shadows and in fear of the human race was simply something I could not understand. It did not make sense. How would one hold so much power and still be afraid to show it off.I had been tutored by my father himself and it had been his goal all these years but apparently, he did not have the strength
ELI'S POVI groaned heavily as I started healing. He actually had gotten me really good and it took a while because this was a fatal blow on my chest area and I could hear as muscles and sinews intertwined alongside cut arteries. Was this guy seriously trying to kill me in front of Miriam? Wait, Miriam. I had heard her scream earlier but I had an inkling she was safe. No way he would harm his own wife. Perhaps, he had just threatened her and made his way away from her and she might have fainted. But as the last part of my opened chest healed, I caught on with the scent of blood. That was not wolf's blood, it was human. Quickly I rose up and turned to find her lying on the stairs in the pool of her blood. No way in the world would I let her die on me. I rushed over and held her in my arms. She was bloodied as her side was bleeding badly obviously where he had gotten her and so was the back of her head that she had landed on the ground."Miriam.... Miriam!!! Don't do this to me. Miriam
MIRIAM'S POVI felt the cool air across my face and realized that I probably was in an open space as I simultaneously opened my eyes to gaze at the hay above me. It had to be hay, made into a rough covering over what seemed like a wooden shed. I realized I had been laying on a really big rock and got up immediately. Looking down, I lifted my camisole and discovered my stomach was wrapped with a bandage like material. Where was I and who had brought me here? I wondered as I looked around.I suddenly could hear someone approaching and quickly, I ducked as I hid behind the rock and listened. The person walked and stopped right in front of the shed as he suddenly dropped something. "Miriam?" He called out to me.It was Eli and I slowly made it out of my hiding spot."Where are we?" I asked him.He smiled as he rushed over to me and grabbed me in a tight embrace. I tried to stop him because of my large bandage but it was too late as he grabbed me tightly in an embrace. Surprisingly, I did
ELI'S POVI had been sent across and the impact was both painful as it was shocking. I could not imagine any other way for her to have done that until she raised her camisole and I caught sight of her healing wound. She stared down at it and then in horror as it was moving quickly let go of her camisole. She turned to look at me helplessly as fear was lined in her eyes boldly."What is happening to me?" She asked me.I finally found my bearing and I rose up as I approached her tentatively. I had just the clear cut answer to that but it was confusing. Miriam was becoming a werewolf or rather, had already become one as she had claws and her eyes blazed yellow. We would get around as to the reason her eyes were yellow but what we needed to do now was to get her to calm down otherwise she just might lose it and we all know that fear, anxiousness and anger were werewolves triggers. I was in no shape right now to start handling a youngling. That is what we refer to our newly transitioning w
MIRIAM'S POVMy eyes were what?I could not believe what he had just said to me. I could hear the sound of rushing water from afar as I had come to discover that my senses had become heightened. Intuitively, I made a run for it as I discovered how fast I was actually. This was strange but I had my mind fixed on achieving just one goal at this point and that was for me to get away from this place and see for myself, what monster I had become. I could hear Eli right behind me as he called out to me but I was on fire.I arrived right at the place where there was a waterfall and I could not believe what I was seeing. By normal human standards, the waterfall was actually really far from where we were and should have taken an automobile to get there in time as I had but right now, it only took me a couple of minutes. I had not imagined that I would be able to hear it as clearly as I had when I had been far away but even more deafening was the sound of it now that I was up close.I stood at
