Ambush

He was overlooking a cliff, the night air was chilly and his breath was leaving his mouth and nose in clouds of fog.

Kai took a step closer to the mouth of the cliff and peered down below. The drop below was a staggering amount of feet and he doubted if anyone fell down there they would be able to survive it man or wolf.

He looked around him, his environment was certainly strange. He was in the woods alright but it looked like an artist had taken a canvas and an easel and had proceeded to drawn a scene of weird proportions.

Behind him was a small lake, crystal clear and unmoving. It had a few water lilies scattered on its surface.

To his side was the rocky face of the cliff, but as he looked further the rocky ground ended after roughly fifty meters and opened up into a stretch of woods going as far as the cliff mouth itself and strangely intersecting with the woods on the other side of the cliff.

From what he could tell the cliff had been part of a land that had been divided into two
