The Moon Crown chooses a Luna

It had been a week since the Alpha had made the announcement to merge two packs after the attack from the rogues had come.

Since then Delilah had done her best to remind as small and as insignificant as possible.

Keeping only to herself she didn't engage in a conversation with anyone neither did she tell anyone that secretly deep down she wanted to become a Luna.

If anyone from the pack heard that from her mouth or she even showed an inclination towards it she was sure she would be chained and dropped somewhere she wouldn't be able to see the ceremony.

Delilah didn't want that. She wanted to witness everything from beginning to end.

Today the pack was alive with bustling sounds of preparation.

In many ways than one Delilah was thankful for the ceremony at least. Kate had gotten off her neck.

She and her bully gang pretended as though she didn't exist and Delilah did the same for them too.

It wasn't even difficult. She'd been doing it for as long as she could remember.

That morning while everyone was fretting with excitement and Kate was practically yelling she was going to become the next Luna because she was the Alpha's daughter, Delilah dragged herself away from the settlement to her favourite position.

Even though sometimes she liked to pretend that what the lack was doing to her didn't hurt and she was used to it she knew deep down it was a lie.

Every single action stung. From Kate's bullying down to the dirty looks some of the pack members would throw her when she crossed them.

She didn't mind the look or Kate's physical abuse. She was more hurt by the words.

Words were like a bullet and if discharged properly had the capacity to do damage.

That was what the pack's words did to her every time someone insulted her or threw a shady remark at her.

The words damaged her.

Maybe the pack didn't know she was human, maybe all they saw was a vessel that had no wolf.

Having no wolf automatically ruled her out from being a normal human with emotions and feelings.

Delilah sighed as she picked up a pebble from the ground and threw it into the water watching as it disappeared underneath with a soft plop.

She had never known love and she yearned for it, craved it even.

Sometimes Delilah liked to watch mates of her pack in secrecy. Watched as the man held the woman against his arms, the woman face content and happy leaving against him.

Watched as they kissed.

Amelia put a hand to her mouth. She had never been kissed before, she wondered how it would feel.

Lip against lip and…

"Hey freak."

Amelia was jolted from her day dream harshly.

She didn't dare turn back. She knew who had uttered those words.

At that moment all Delilah wanted to do was become small and insignificant again.

Delilah didn't answer; she just kept her shoulders squared praying that her bully would go.

Was it too hard to ask for some peace and quiet?

Suddenly a hard grabbed her roughly from the shoulders twisting her so that she turned to face her bully.

One of the perks of having no wolf was the fact she didn't even know when an attack was coming up on her.

"I'm talking to you, freak, you've gone deaf or something."

"I'm sorry I didn't hear you. I apologize."

"That's not enough, freak. Beg."

It always irritated Delilah how Kate would never call her name and instead replaced it with freak.

Delilah was in no mood to beg let alone entertain any of Kate's bullying.

All she wanted this morning was to daydream and now Kaye was taking evem that away from her.

When Delilah made no attempt to grovel Kate stepped up in front of her her face twisted in an ugly grimace.

"I said beg freak."

Kate was alone and for a fleeting second Delilah thought about punching her but two things prevented her.

Hee goons will be coming back to exact revenge and Kate had a wolf, she wouldn't let a punch go scott free.

Delilah stood up from the boulder she was sitting on and dropped to her knees her expression that of a humble supplicant.

"I'm sorry Kate, is that better kr do you want me to kiss your feet?"

"Is that sarcasm I sense?" Kate asked, arching her eyebrows.

"No, I apologize."

"Good keep kneeling."

Delilah felt spite flood into her body bit she bit her tongue and kept her reaction in check.

"Are you by any chance daydreaming of being a Luna."

Delilah suddenly flinched.

How had she known.

If Kaye had mentioned this to any other person and somehow it got to the Alpha then she was royally screwed.

"I'm not I swear" Delilah said meekly.

Kate referred her suddenly her bessny black eyes boring into hers and Delilah was forced to look away.

She had to appease Kate. Act humble as possible.

"Don't decieve yourself though, there is no way you're going to become the Luna of any pack let alone have a mate. As far as I'm concerned you're just the little runt in this pack.

One good thing she had picked up after years of Kate's bullying was the ability to keep her expression neutral.

Yet it didn't mean what Kaye said didn't have any effect on her. It has sliced like a sharp knife.

"Are you aware if this fact freak."

"I am." Delilah nodded.

"Good the sooner that sinks in the better."

"It has already."

Kate kicked at her and Delilah lost her balance falling to the ground.

"Bullying you today has lost its fun" Kaye said walking off her head held high.

Delilah picked herself up from the ground dusting the sand and leaves off hee cloth.

Kate's physical abuse was normal to her and she would never she'd a tear because of it.

But it affected her emotionally. No matter how much she put a wall there the words somehow seemed to penetrate her emotional defences.

Sitting back on the boulder that faced the small lake she gazed out at the water.

There was a sharp pain in her eyes ans she felt it well up with oncoming tears.

Delilah wiped it off. She promised herself to never cry no matter what Kate or another pack wolf did to her.

Don't decieve yourself though, there is no way you're going to become the Luna of any pack let alone have a mate. As far as I'm concerned you're just the little runt in this pack.

Those words hurt so bad that for a brief moment she felt her chest tightening. Delilah exhaled, calming herself down.

She had to prepare herself for the Silver Moon Pack's arrival. That as if no one chased her out when the time came.

Looking up to the sky Delilah wished it will be alright. That everything would be fine and she would finally fall in love and would have a mate.

Yes, one day everything was going to be fine.

When dusk came her pack was ready to receive the Silver Moon pack. The excitement in the settlement had gotten more and more tense and everywhere she passed girls were gossiping about becoming a Luna or hopefully still finding a mate.

Delilah couldn't be a part of that conversation so she kept to herself most of the day.

Now it was time to receive the Silver Moon Pack.

In the center of the settlement a platform had been erected and on this platform was three chairs.

Alpha Dean, Luna Jay and Brat Kate.

In her eyes she would never regard Kate as the daughter of an Alpha. She didn't possess any single quality it took to be the daughter of an Alpha.

Deliah stood a bit farther from the pack seated on a log of wood that had been carved to the shape of a small stool.

The rest of the pack was closer to the platform. Delilah wasn't one of them, she was perfectly comfortable where she sat.

The air was tense with excitement Delilah could feel it. When she turned her eyes to look at the Alpha Dean he looked calm and collected like he knew how all this would play out.

Kate on her own part was even quiet, her face twisted into some sort of expression she couldn't discern.

Deliah almost laughed if not she herself was having fantasies of her own.

As she watched from her position Ben, one of the pack Betas, suddenly approached Ross from the right of the platform and passed him a paper.

Dean took it and quickly read the contents. When he was done he folded it back and addressed the pack.

"Unfortunately the Alpha cannot be here due to some unforeseen circumstances but in his place he has sent his trusted Beta's. Whoever is chosen as the Luna today will be taken to the pack by his Beta's."

When Dean was done speaking he motioned his hands to his left and Amelia turned to look in that direction.

Out from the shadows stepped three men and her breath caught In her throat. It was the most delicious sight she had ever seen.

The three of them were dressed in black suits every inch of the fabric perfectly outlining the hulking frame of ther bodies.

The one who was leading the group was wearing dark sunglasses so she could see much of his features. The other two were clean shaven with strong structured jawline.

Delilah felt something tingle within her and she suddenly pressed her legs together.

What was this feeling?

The three of them stepped onto the platform and stood in front of Alpha Dean who took his seat with a satisfied look on his face.

The pack was silent, every single eye fixed on the three men.

It wasn't as if her pack didn't have men as big as them or even bigger but there was something about these three men that made them visually appealing.

The one wearing sunglasses took off his glasses and faced the pack, his gray eyes sweeping around them.

"My name is Adam and a week ago your Alpha showed interest in merging Blue Moon pack and Silver Moon pack together as a result of the rogue problems this pack has been facing."

Delilah wasn't sure she hadn't imagined it or heard something else but it felt like Adam had said the word rogue with hate.

"In order to solidify this alliance we will be picking one of you from this pack as a suitable Luna for our Alpha."

Delilah could feel her heart beat a little faster as she drank in the man's words.

"In order for us to do this we will be using the Moon crown."

There was an excited murmur from the pack and Delilah couldn't blame them.

Her heart beat even faster now. The moon crown was an old artifact blessed by the Moon Goddess that was capable of single handedly picking out a female who it deemed worthy for the position of a Luna.

Adam gave a nod of his head and there one of the clean shaven Beta's to his right opened a briefcase which she had just noticed only now.

Out of it he pulled out a cream colored crown that had a glowing red jewel in the center.

Adam lifted it above his head and suddenly it began glowing from a dull red to a bright red.

It was beautiful, captivating her in awe.

"Bless this process Goddess and find us the chosen Luna."

The glowing intensified and Delilah closed her eyes against the harshness of the glow. She opened her eyes when there was a soft caress on her forehead.

Directly in front of her was the Moon crown hovering slightly in the air. As she watched it floated up, settling itself comfortably above her head.

Oh God was she truly the Luna. It couldn't be happening.

I'm so happy for her, just maybe The Moon Goddess will awaken her wolf now.
