CHAPTER 7

BUSHWIND TOWN

FOREST

22:30PM

My heart was beating so fast with every beat getting faster, it was almost as if I’m living an out of body experience. I don’t how to feel, I don’t how to think, and I also forgot how to move for a second. Currently standing in the middle of the forest face to face to a creature so unhuman, I creature like no other, staring deeply into my crystalline eyes. I lost complete control of my body, every step I took felt like someone else took over, but one thing we have in common is using our instincts quickly without blinking an eyelid I ran so fast, faster than I ever have in my entire life some would say even my entire career.

30 minutes later

“Dame what is your problem” Vanessa rants as she follows behind Dame into the pack house

“Are you seriously going to ignore me right now” Vanessa says following closely behind Dame with every step, stamping her heels against the wooden floor, as Dame pours himself a beer and quickly drowns it without warning.

“TALK TO ME DAMN IT” Vanessa raises her voice with an increased amount of anger boiling in her blood, which finally catches the attention of Dame as he turns around and faces her studying her face like an exam before proceeding to reply.

“What is your problem Nessa” Dame nonchalantly says crossing his arms.

“My problem, do you want to know what my problem is” Vanessa begins her statement with an unamused face.

“Enlighten me” Dame says unfazed by the whole situation

“Okay well for starters I let you handle the situation because I thought you was man enough, but you literally let her go” Vanessa proceeds becoming frustrated with every breath

“So, what did you want me to do?” Dame asks as his curiosity builds up

“KILL HER LIKE A REAL MAN” Vanessa raises her voice with her face becoming red by every passing second. Dame slowly walks towards her filling up the gap in-between them not allowing space for any entrance.

“Watch what you say Nessa” Dame threatens which causes Vanessa to dryly chuckle

“What are you going to do...kill me your just an excuse of a man” Vanessa says pointing in Dame’s face and swiftly turning her back from him walking out the pack house.

The next day

BUSHWIND TOWN

SHOPPING MALL

14:50PM

I’m so happy we can do this honestly” Sophia excitedly says as we walk across the shopping mall

She was right this is exactly what I needed some quality time with my best friend in the whole world, the one person that makes me smile even on the cloudiest days. Me and Sophia have literally been inseparable even before we could say our first words, even though she is the craziest person I know I wouldn’t trade her for the world.

“Same Soph, I feel like we haven't hung out in forever” I say truthfully sipping away at my tropical fruit drink

“I know, honestly I didn’t really know what this town was going to offer its much smaller than Lockwood, but I really love it here” Sophia replies with a plastered smile across her face. Which makes me internally happy because the only reason her and Aunty Rose moved here was because of me, there's nothing better in the world than for them to be fitting right in wish I could say the same for me.

As Sophia continues to talk away, about her work and a new doctor she has a crush on, my mind couldn’t resist the temptation of being preoccupied. Every day I get more questions than answers and its starting to become frustrating, from getting weird visions of my mother to seeing a weird creature in the forest nothing started to make sense anymore.

“El what do you think” Sophia says whilst I look at her in confusion

“Sorry, what did you say” I say diverting my mind from my never-ending thoughts to her

“Have you even been listening to anything I said, I said should we go into this shop” She points at the clothing store Infront of us as clarification to my confusion.

“Yeah sure” and before I could even finish my sentence Sophia was already rushing into the store as I follow behind her slowly.

GABRIEL AND IRIS’S HOUSE

BUSHWND TOWN

16:00PM

What do you mean you saw Ashina” Brian as trying to gather the information that Gabriel has poured on him

“I didn’t...see her...see her...she came into my vision asking me to save someone” Gabriel says pacing around the room anxiously

“But why?” Brian asks as his confusion continues to raise

“I just don't get it she was asking me to save someone” Gabriel continues speaking increasing his pace around the room.

“Is there anything you need to tell me about that night of her death” Gabriel finally stops pacing around the room and directly looking at Brian in the eyes demanding answers.

“What is there to tell I killed her on your command and came back” Brian says becoming irritated at Gabriels questions

Gabriel stares at Brian intensely before proceeding to leave the room leaving Brian in the room alone with his thoughts and cold air.

POLICE STATION

BUSHWIND TOWN

20:00PM

My mind has been wondering the last couple of days, I have not been able to think straight, eat normally or even get a decent amount of sleep so you can imagine how much my eye bags have grown in the last couple of days.

As the police station becomes empty, without a person in sight I decide to do my own investigation, the image found at the crime scene struck something in me where I felt an obligation to find out what is going on. In all my years of working in the police force this has been the most challenging case yet.... something about this whole thing feels weirdly abnormal.

“What are you doing” I hear a voice behind me that makes me jump out of my own skin, turning around a realising it was Marcus giving me a sense of relief.

“You literally scared me” I say whilst diverting my attention back to the computer screen

“Is that the image from the crime scene” Marcus asks whilst placing one arm on top of my chair

“Yes, the weird thing is when the autopsy came through nothing was found, the mark seems like it didn’t come from a human” I say firmly keeping a grip onto my computer mouse.

“Are you telling me an animal has been going around killing people” Marcus in a confused tone

“I don’t know but whatever this thing is its bigger than what we think” I say staring blankly at the image in hopes for some answers.
