Chapter 2

Every day Since she arrived, no outing, no school, no church, no club! Nowhere at all. Melissa feels like a jailbird in her husband's to be a house, the person she would have to live with all the days of her life.

Each morning after bath, she would sit in the same chair till Williams come to say hi they call her for meals. It's been just four days since she left the hospital and saw her friends last but it feels like it had been centuries. It looks like she had lived in this hell hole with Williams and his yes men for years that He had to order she must eat the dining and no longer her room.

Williams made sure rules because she had begun to skip meals so much that she would have to be fed to regain energy. But this morning seems different, she just felt too tired to do anything even after she have had her bath she still felt too full and drained.

"Your food is ready, ma'am" A young girl came to inform Melissa, interrupting her from her small beauty sleep.

If Melissa could ignore she would gladly but her stomach grumbled as if it knew what she was about to say. It had been her usual and it seems her body is beginning to give up on her too.

She acted like she didn't notice someone just walking into her room as she lay still on the bed with her face up. Her palms were placed on her flat stomach, one up and the other down as if protecting her tiny baby, her Brown eyes were open starting at the expensive look chandelier as if she had been compelled to.

"Excuse me ma'am" the girl moved closer "Please come and have breakfast " she begged "Mr. Hughes will fire me if I don't make you come" she got close to Melissa and held her palm "I have college fee, house rent, and my blind father to work for"

She held Melissa's palm tight and began to cry, she couldn't afford to be the third person fired because of Melissa. After a little while, she accepted her fate, dried her face with her apron, and stood up to leave.

"What's your name?" Melissa asked suddenly, she sit up and stared at the girl blankly "What's your name?" She asked again.

"Monica" the girl replied with the brightest smile on her face "If you don't like Monica you can call me Mo-"

"No!" Melissa yelled, she got up from the bed and walked to the girl "Monica is better"

She walked past Monica straight to the dining, her steps shaky as if she was just learning how to walk for the first time. Her hands were shaky as she tried to serve herself rice.

"Let me help you, ma'am" Monica offered as she put a quality portion for Melissa "More?" She asked.

She held the big spoon waiting for Melissa to finish staring at her strangely before she can add more or go back to her position with the other girls. They were four in number all in the same blue apron and weird-looking hair bonnet.

They all stood like statues staring into the thin air with their hands behind them, not even the sign of the faintest smile showing on their face.

"Are you okay ma'am?" Monica snapped her fingers in front of Melissa's face "You need something or water?" She asked, genuine concern written all over her face.

Like a nutter, Melissa shook her head and took the spoon from Monica, the heart wouldn't stop pounding heavily like it wants to break free.

"I will always love you, Melissa Harts"

She remember Molly's words, it seem like her last words because she had not seen or heard from her again. She looked at Monica again and fresh tears flow down need her freckled face.

The love she didn't have for Molly then had begun to build now and she starts to wish she can at least kiss her and tell her she would do anything to keep her again. Even if it has to leave Williams she would do, that would be after she gives birth to his child or not at all.

    'I can abort this child!'

Excitement spread over her face, she looked at the girls and smiled. Not just her sweet smile but a sly smirk, since Williams wants a child so much than killing the baby would make him hate her and send her away.

"Please sit," she said to the girls.

They looked at themselves like Melissa had begun to see things or go nut, with the brightest smile they could make from their sad and stressed face, they rejected the offer.

"I said please seat with me" Melissa tried to be more polite.

"No ma'am" Monica replied "As the head of the kitchen staff, if we seat with you we will lose our jobs"

Melissa's brows connect, she tilted her head and stared at Monica's face well.

"I don't feel comfortable with you all standing with those straight faces of yours" Melissa complained.

Something like a low chuckle escaped Monica's throat, she looked at the girls who had a weak smile on their faces.

"You will have to get used to it because we will have to stand her every meal you have in your stay here" she explained.

After watching them in silence for a while,  she shrugged and began to eat her food. Immediately the food meet her tongue, a satisfying moan left her lips. Unfortunately, as soon as she swallowed the food, she seems to lost her appetite.

"Can I get any strong alcohol here?" She looked at Monica who had her eyes in one of the girls.

The girl nodded, looked at Melissa then nodded again before going.

"Where is the boss's wife to be?"

Melissa heard a familiar voice, she turned around to see the last person she had expected. Her chin lifted in a cute smile of hope as she stood up and rushed to hug him but the person shook her hand instead.

She giggled as she tried to wave the weird scenario off and also ignore the surprised look on the girl's face.

"JAKE!!!" It came out as a scream "Oh my God, Jake!!"
