Chapter 6

Daniel Edward confronted Laura in a hostile tone, demanding to know why her eyes were red from crying. He warned her not to embarrass him again with her tears, reminding her of who he was.

However, Laura chose to ignore him, despite the inner turmoil she was going through due to her deep love for Daniel's best friend.

Meanwhile, Gina sat at home, feeling restless and agitated, plotting her next move to get rid of Laura.

Little did she know that Laura had uncovered her dark secret. Daniel had no idea that his fiancé, Gina, was seeking revenge on him for leaving her in the past.

He remained clueless about her true intentions.

As Gina waited for Daniel and Laura to arrive, she received a call from her mother, Mrs. Anthonia. "Mom, how are you doing? I've missed you so much."

Mrs. Anthonia then revealed her plans to take a vacation and visit Gina, as it had been quite a while since they had seen each other.

"Same here sweetheart, I want to take a little vacation and I was hoping I could come visit my angel." Anthonia replied.

Gina was thrilled about her mom's upcoming visit and since she knew she had Daniel Edward wrapped around her finger, she was confident it would be easy to persuade him.

"Mom, I can't wait for you to arrive. It's going to be so much fun having you here," she said excitedly on the phone with her mother, before cutting the conversation short to greet Daniel, who had just arrived.

As Laura stormed into the room looking upset, Gina wasted no time in asking Daniel, "Did you lay your hands on her? She doesn't look alright."

Daniel's response only confirmed what Gina had suspected - he had no romantic attachment for Laura.

She also planned on convincing Daniel about her mom coming to spend a little time with her.

As Gina spoke in a calm voice, she dropped a bombshell on Daniel, "Daniel, my mom wants to come pay me a visit." She smiled at him, but he couldn't hide his confusion. He furrowed his brows, trying to make sense of what she meant.

But before he could even say anything, his anger started to surge through him, like a relentless tempest.

He couldn't understand why Gina's mom would want to visit her here. "I don't get you at all!" he snapped. "Why would your mom come and visit you here, Gina?"

But instead of calming down, Gina's voice roared like a striking thunder. Her gentle melody had turned into an angry outburst.

"Don't make this harder than it is already," she said. "You have all you wanted, and I think it's high time you put yourself together!"

The atmosphere in the room was tense. Daniel seemed to be holding himself back, but his fists were clenched tightly, and his eyes were fixed on Gina with a fiery intensity.

Gina interrupted him midway, cutting him off with her sharp words.

Daniel's anger boiled over. "Get out of my way!" he yelled as he stormed out of the room, leaving Gina standing there, furious and frustrated.

Meanwhile, Laura was silently sobbing in her room, heartbroken over the fact that the man she loved had chosen another.

She was lost in her thoughts, trying to make sense of her feelings when suddenly, she realized that she was obsessed with Harold.

She couldn't believe how much she had fallen for him, especially since she had been so blind to her own feelings.

As if on cue, Harold called to check up on her. Laura was surprised to see his call and answered it hesitantly.

But to her surprise, Harold's gentle voice was soothing, and she found herself opening up to him about her pain and heartbreak.

Harold listened patiently, his words of comfort giving her the strength she needed to carry on. "Laura, if you ever need someone to talk to, I will always be here for you," he said, and his words gave her the comfort and reassurance she needed to keep going.

Bryan was furious. Daniel Edward had broken his promise to sponsor his political dream and he wasn't going to let it slide. He spotted Daniel walking out of his company and he intercepted him. "You think you can mess with me and get away with it Daniel?" he ranted. "I will make sure you get frustrated just like me."

Despite Bryan's threats, Daniel remained calm and collected. He tried to handle Bryan quietly, reminding him that he had paid him a huge sum of money for his cooperation. But Bryan wasn't having any of it. He was more provoked by Daniel's response and it made things worse. Bryan didn't like being played at all.

As the tension between the two men grew, Bryan clenched his fists, his eyes filled with anger. He left, seething with rage. Daniel laughed at him confidently, knowing full well that he had the upper hand.

But Bryan wasn't giving up just yet. He reached out to Gina, the only person he could trust, telling her to come over to his house when she gets an opportunity to. What would happen next? Only time will tell.

Picture this: Gina, a young woman with an unstoppable drive to succeed, was willing to do whatever it takes to get what she wants. She was head-over-heels in love with Bryan and would do anything to help him get revenge on the infamous Daniel Edward. Little did Daniel know, Gina was carrying Bryan's child.

After being abandoned by Daniel, Gina met Bryan at a bar. She was frustrated and lost, but Bryan came to her rescue. What started as a chance encounter quickly turned into a passionate love affair. Gina confided in Bryan about her disastrous encounter with Daniel, and they both decided to take revenge on him together.

As Daniel continued to see Gina, he had no idea that she was pregnant with Bryan's child. She played her cards close to her chest, waiting for the perfect moment to strike. One day, Gina showed up at Daniel's house with a sad and pale face. Bryan, concerned for his love, asked her what was wrong.

"Daniel keeps provoking me almost every day," she said. "I can't wait for us to get this over with and live together peacefully."

Bryan took her hands in comfort and said, "Just calm down my love, I won't let anything happen to you and my baby. I will do whatever it takes to bring him to his knees, I don't care what happens."

Their love for each other was unbreakable, and they were determined to see their plan through.

Together, they slowly plotted Daniel's downfall, relishing the thought of taking him down. It was risky, but for Gina and Bryan, the reward was worth it.

Laura's heart was beating fast as she snuck into Daniel's private room - a place she had never been to before. She had noticed that Gina had left the house, and her gut feeling told her that something was not right.

As she looked around the room, she felt a rush of excitement and fear. Her eyes landed on a secret phone that she had never seen before. She wondered what Daniel used it for and why he had kept it hidden from her.

Just as she was about to take a closer look at the phone, she heard the sound of footsteps approaching. It was Gina! Laura quickly hid in the room, hoping that Gina wouldn't see her.

Gina walked into the room and looked around, but she didn't see Laura. Laura held her breath and prayed that she wouldn't get caught. Finally, Gina left the room, locking the door behind her.

Laura was now trapped in the room, with no way to escape. She could hear Daniel's footsteps approaching, and her heart was pounding in her chest. She knew that if he found her there, he would become suspicious.

As Daniel opened the door to the room, Gina suddenly called out, pretending to have a severe abdominal pain. Laura watched as Daniel rushed to her side, completely forgetting about the room.

While Daniel was busy taking care of Gina, Laura seized the opportunity and sneaked out of the room. She felt lucky to have escaped undetected.

As the night wore on, Daniel decided to stay with Gina to take care of her. Laura knew that something was not right, but she couldn't put her finger on it. She decided to keep a closer eye on Daniel from now on.

Harold was ecstatic to be getting married to Ashley, but deep down, he was struggling with unexpected feelings for his best friend's wife. As the wedding approached, his mind was in turmoil and he found it hard to concentrate on the preparations.

When Ashley noticed his distracted state, she asked if something was wrong.

"Are you alright Harold? You look lost."

Harold tried to brush it off and blamed it on the stress of organizing a wedding, but deep down he knew it was something more.

As they went to check out the reception venue, Harold's thoughts were consumed by Laura.

He couldn't shake the feeling that he was making a mistake by marrying Ashley. A few days before the wedding, he went to see Ashley and walked in on her kissing another man. The shock was too much to bear, and he left without saying a word.

Harold couldn't believe that the woman he was about to marry was already cheating on him.

"Wait! Harold, I can explain, please!"

He turned immediately unable to take a second glance at her. "Stay away from me! You cheap whore! You disgust me.

He was torn between his feelings for her and the betrayal he felt. It was a difficult time, and he wasn't sure what his next move would be.

The scene was heart-wrenching. Ashley was chasing after Harold, trying to explain something, but he didn't want to hear it. He was so disappointed that he couldn't bear to have her near him.

Harold's voice trembled as he spoke, "What more do you want to say? You should have asked for a breakup instead of embarrassing me like this." Ashley stood there, her mouth agape, unable to utter a single word.

In a fit of rage and hurt, Harold drove away, leaving Ashley standing alone.

The wedding was called off, leaving Harold in unbearable pain. He confided in his best friend, Daniel Edward, and poured out his heart.

Daniel listened patiently, offering words of comfort and encouragement.

Harold couldn't help but think of Laura, and he called her immediately. His voice was shaking, and tears streamed down his face as he spoke of his betrayal. "Laura, I'm hurt. I trusted her, and she betrayed me. I'm so disappointed," he said, his words choked with emotion.

Laura listened intently, her heart aching for Harold. She wished she could be there to comfort him, but for now, she could only offer words of solace.

"Calm down, Harold. It's going to be okay. You'll get through this," she said, trying to sound as reassuring as possible.

Despite the distance between them, Laura was determined to be there for Harold in any way she could. She would do whatever it takes to help him heal and move on.

Laura had been thinking about Harold for days now. She missed him so much that it was almost unbearable. She knew she had to see him soon but she couldn't do it openly. That's when she came up with a plan to secretly see him.

One day, she left the house giving her husband, Daniel, the impression that she was just going shopping. But in reality, she was headed straight to Harold's house.

When Harold saw Laura, he was speechless and overjoyed. He gave her a tight, warm hug and it felt like heaven. They spent quality time together and shared their problems. Harold was truly in love with Laura and the feeling was mutual. However, they both kept their emotions in check, not wanting to cross any boundaries.

Days passed and Laura couldn't stop thinking about Harold. She didn't care where this love was headed, she was ready for anything. But there was a problem - she was still married to Daniel Edward.

Meanwhile, Mr. Markson was trying to get his business running again so he could pay off the huge debt he owed Daniel. He knew how much Laura was suffering in her marriage and he couldn't bear to see her in pain.

Laura sought her mother's advice on what to do about her newfound love but Daniel was so mean that he hardly let her visit her parents. It was so unfair to Laura in every way possible.

Despite all the challenges, Laura was determined to make things work with Harold. But she had no idea what was in store for her in the future.

Laura was in a dilemma. She had fallen in love with someone else, but was stuck with Daniel Edward. She couldn't bear it anymore and reached out to her mom for advice. Claudia knew the true definition of love and she couldn't just talk Laura out of it.

"Mom, I'm in love with Daniel's best friend. I've never felt this way my whole life but I don't know how I can possibly handle this." Laura said.

"Sweetheart love happens, it's just complicated because you are married and what makes it worse is that he's your husband's best friend."

"Who knows what Daniel Edward will do if he definitely finds out? "

However, she was worried sick about the new development in Laura's life.

As the midnight air hung like a soft embrace, carrying whispers of a gentle breeze that caressed the senses, Laura was carried away in a deep sleep.

The beep from her phone woke her up, and she couldn't shake off the feeling of uneasiness that had taken over her.

Things took a turn for the worse when Laura received a mysterious message from an unknown number warning her to run for her life from Daniel Edward.

Laura wiped her eyes in a quick motion, making sure she read the message right. It was a warning that could save her life, but who had sent it? And what was their motive?

"Your husband is much worse than you realize, run for your dear life!"

Laura needed answers, and fast. Laura tried to call the number, but it was unavailable.

She spent the whole night contemplating and trying to contact the unknown sender, but to no avail. The tension was high, and Laura was increasingly worried about what might happen next.

Laura was perplexed, who could be sending her such a message? Was there something she didn't know about Daniel? It seemed that the message was right about Daniel being worse than what she had thought all along.

Laura had a secret that was eating her up inside, and the only person she trusted enough to confide in was Harold. So, she decided to reach out to him.

"Harold, I have something very important I want to discuss with you," she said in a hushed tone.

Harold's curiosity was piqued. "Sure, Laura. What's going on?"

"Can you come to the hospital now?" Laura asked, her voice trembling with anxiety.

Harold was taken aback. "Why the hospital? Is everything okay?"

Laura needed to convince him."It's very important and I have no one to talk to about you Harold, I trust you"

"Trust is a big word," Harold thought but he agreed to go to the hospital anyway. "Okay, I'll be there soon. Just take care of yourself."

Laura hung up the phone and let out a sigh of relief. She knew that it wouldn't be easy to sneak out of the house without her husband, Daniel, noticing. But she had to take the risk.

She found Daniel in the sitting room going through some documents. "I'm not feeling too well, I want to go to the hospital, ok will be back soon." She said with a faint voice, hoping to convince him.

Daniel raised his eyebrows, looking at her suspiciously. "What's wrong? Do you want me to come with you?"

"Well you can see how busy I am."

"You know you won't come along so why ask?" She asked.

Laura knew that she couldn't let him come along anyway."I just need to see the doctor. Harold will take care of me," she said, trying to reassure him.

"Make sure to come back on time," Daniel said firmly.

Laura ignored his warning and headed out to meet Harold at his office.

Once they were together, Laura shared the message she had received from an unknown sender about Daniel with Harold. He was shocked to hear it.

"What else could Daniel be hiding, and who might have sent the message?" Harold wondered aloud.

Harold explained that Daniel's father and his father were best friends, and that's why he had always stood by him no matter what. But now, they needed to find out what he had been hiding and who had sent the message.

Harold suggested they try calling the number again to see if it would ring. Laura was hesitant, but she agreed. She dialed the number, and to their surprise, it rang. But no one answered.

Laura tried again, and this time, someone picked up the call but didn't say a word.

Harold told her not to try the number again for the time being. They had to figure out what to do next.

As Laura rushed through the door of her house, she couldn't help but notice the eerie silence. Daniel, her husband, was nowhere to be found. She asked the housemaid if he was out with Gina, and the maid nodded in agreement.

Laura's mind was racing. She had to find evidence against Daniel, and this might be her chance. She snuck into his private room, determined to uncover any secrets that he was hiding.

As she went through his phone, her heart sank. She found some suspicious text messages and some unknown numbers. But then a particular message caught her attention - "The job is done, and the warehouse is down."

Her hands trembled as she held the phone. Suddenly, she heard a noise and turned around to see Daniel standing there, staring at her with a fiery gaze.

"What are you doing here?" Daniel's voice boomed through the room, making her heart skip a beat.

Laura was caught, and she couldn't find the words to explain herself. She stood there, shaking with fear, not knowing what would happen next.

"I - I just"

"Shut up! Do you think I'm that stupid? You were spying on me, right?" He scolded her.

"So it was you all along, you made my family miserable. You burnt down my Dad's warehouse, all his years of hard work." Laura said, her voice shaking.

Daniel faked a smile, "what if I did?" He said confidently.

"Nobody turns me down! He had it coming." Daniel ranted.

With a furious expression, he balled his hand into a tight fist and marched towards Laura, causing her to tremble with fear as she tried to escape the room.

Suddenly, in a fit of rage, Daniel pushed Laura with all his might, causing her to collide with the wall and fall to the ground with a sickening thud.

Blood gushed from her head as she lay motionless on the floor. Daniel stood there, shocked and clueless, not knowing what to do.

Just then, Gina heard the commotion and rushed into Daniel's room to find Laura lying there, helpless and in agony. "What have you done, Daniel?" Gina's voice was tense with anger and concern.

"Shh, Gina, keep it down!" Daniel hissed. "No one needs to know what really happened. Get my car keys, let me take her to the hospital, and if anyone asks, just say she slipped and fell."

Gina had a tough decision to make - comply or risk losing her chance to get rid of Laura. The stakes were high, and she chose to go with the former.

Soon after Laura's accident, Harold was on a mission to get to the bottom of things and find out what had really happened.

Daniel's explanation didn't seem to satisfy him, and with Laura's critical condition, he was desperate for answers.

Laura's coma was a devastating blow for everyone involved, and when she finally woke up, she was greeted with the worst kind of news - she had lost all her memories.

For someone who had lived a full life, this was a nightmare come true, and Harold couldn't help but feel heartbroken for her.

As he sat by her side, trying to comfort her, she struggled to make sense of what was happening.

But amidst the confusion and pain, there was a glimmer of hope - a connection that she couldn't quite explain, but one that felt familiar and comforting.

Harold's unwavering support helped her stay calm, and amidst the chaos, she found solace in his presence. The road ahead was uncertain, but for now, she felt safe in his arms.

As Harold sat in his office, he couldn't stop thinking about Laura's condition. He knew something had to be done about it. But as he tried to come up with a plan, his mind kept going back to the ruthless billionaire, Daniel Edward, who didn't even bother to tell Laura's parents about their daughter's condition.

It was clear to Harold that Daniel had no conscience or human sympathy. And as he thought about Bryan, who didn't care about what happened to Laura and only had his focus on Daniel, it angered him even more.

But Harold couldn't let his grudges get the better of him. He knew he had to do something to help Laura uncover what Daniel had done to her family. So, for the first time, he decided to confront Daniel.

When Daniel came to see Laura at the hospital, Harold requested to have a private discussion with him. And as they sat in his office, Harold spoke his mind.

"Daniel, Laura's condition is critical and I insist she stays at the hospital for the meantime."

"She doesn't need to stay long at the hospital, I have all it takes to take care of my wife," Daniel replied with a fake smile, his anger and frustration apparent.

But Harold wasn't backing down. "Your wife whom you treat like a common maid, no one deserves to be treated the way you treat Laura, even an animal," he said firmly.

Daniel pounded his hand on the office desk in anger. "Are you lecturing me now? You don't have the right to tell me how to live my life."

But Harold wasn't afraid. "I've seen the way you treat her but I decided to keep mute because I know you will get angry at me," he replied.

It was clear that Daniel Edward always claims right in whatever he does and doesn't enjoy being corrected by anyone. But Harold wasn't going to let him have his way this time. He left Daniel's office, and aimed to come for Laura anytime soon.

Laura's memory was gone, and she was the only one who knew what had happened to her.

Everyone was worried about her, especially Harold, who couldn't bear to see her suffer so much. After a week, Daniel Edward finally took Laura home. He seemed to be taking care of her, but something wasn't right.

Daniel brainwashed Laura, making her believe that she was his second wife. He told her that they were deeply in love and had decided to get married.

Laura had no idea that she had been deceived, and her life became a misery.

Meanwhile, Gina was scheming to take advantage of Laura's predicament. Harold felt guilty keeping this secret from Laura's parents, so he decided to tell them.

He arrived at their doorstep and informed Laura's mother, Claudia, about what had happened to her daughter.

Claudia was devastated and asked Harold what she could do to help. Harold advised her to wait and monitor how things were going with Laura, as acting too hastily might complicate things.

Claudia couldn't bear to watch her child suffer at the hands of Daniel Edward, and tears welled up in her eyes.

"How would I tell my husband the situation of his daughter, he suffered a heart attack last time because of her."

"If I break this news to him, he might just die." She sobbed bitterly.

Laura's family was so pitiful, Harold sympathized with her. "I will do my best to look out for Laura, I promise."

Laura was in a state of confusion - she had no idea who she was, and she believed everything that Daniel Edward told her. The only problem was, she didn't know whether she could trust him or not.

On the other hand, Daniel acted as if he was the kindest person on earth. He knew how to play his cards right and didn't want Laura to remember anything that had happened before.

Meanwhile, Gina was being as sly as she possibly could, pretending to be nice and trustworthy to Daniel. But Laura had a feeling that there was more to Gina than met the eye.

One day, Gina walked into Laura's room, acting all bossy and authoritative. "How are you, Laura? I hope you're feeling better. Just be careful next time you climb the stairs," she warned.

Laura nodded in agreement, still clueless about who Gina really was. Gina spent some time with her, but Laura couldn't help but wonder why she was being so nice.

"Aren't you angry at me for being a second wife to your husband?" Laura asked, her curiosity piqued.

"Why would I be angry, Laura? My husband is a billionaire who wants to marry more than one wife. Besides, I'm doing quite well myself, so I have no issues with it," Gina replied.

But Laura could tell that Gina was lying, and her behavior seemed pretentious. What could she do to find out the truth?

Laura felt uneasy, she knew something was wrong. But every time she tried to remember, her mind drew a blank. Daniel had switched her phone and wouldn't let her use it, fearing that she might remember something that would expose his secrets. He had only transferred a few pictures of their wedding and some other irrelevant things to make it seem like nothing was wrong.

Daniel was always one step ahead, constantly manipulating Laura to keep her in the dark.

But as days went by, Laura started to feel like she was missing something important. She realized that she had never asked about her parents and it was driving her crazy.

One day, she decided to take matters into her own hands and went to the gym house to confront Daniel.

He was working out, his muscles bulging with determination as he powered through the weights. Laura stood there, mesmerized by his strength.

Daniel took a break and turned towards her, curious to know why she had come to the gym house. Laura gathered all her courage and said, "I can't remember anything about my parents."

Daniel replied with a calm and collected voice, "Your parents were against our marriage, which led to a serious misunderstanding. You haven't been in touch with them ever since."

But Laura couldn't shake the feeling that something wasn't quite right. She knew there was more to the story than what Daniel was telling her.

Laura had been played by both Daniel and Gina, and she was tired of it. When Harold decided to check up on her, she was thrilled to see him unexpectedly at Daniel's doorstep. Unfortunately, Daniel was not around as he had a meeting at his company. But Laura was more than happy to welcome Harold into her home.

"Hi, doctor, you decided to come see me today?" She said, walking down the stairs.

"But I'm here now." He chuckled.

Harold spent time with Laura, trying to figure out if there was any new development. Despite not remembering him, Laura seemed to be attracted to Harold.

"Have you tried remembering anything?" Harold asked in concern for her.

Harold was all alone in the sitting room with Laura, and he made an effort to see if she could remember him. He started teasing her about the first time they met each other at the door. He also reminded her of the hug at Harold's birthday party.

Laura sat still, trying to recall the events, but she got another flash, and everything she tried to remember seemed blank. Just then, the headache returned.

The headache was severe, and she moaned in pain and just then someone knocked on the door.
