“Take care, honey.” Melinda says, hugging Brother,

“You too,” Brother mutters, kissing her on top of her hair. I look at their interaction from the side quietly, but then, Brother looks at my face suddenly, and I force an uneasy smile.

“Bye, Melinda.” I find myself blurting, after they break apart, and I take the lead, not waiting for any kind of response.

I always sit in the backseat whenever I ride in Brother's car, so I was going to sit in the backseat as usual, but he opened the front seat door, holding it for me.

For once I didn't want to argue, so I got in, and he leaned over to help with my seatbelt, and I looked at his side profile just inches from my face, holding my breath.

“Are you alright?” he asks, and I nod.

“Thank you,” I smile genuinely at him, and he returns it before stepping back and shutting the door.
