Back To Normal

I let out an exhausted sigh, the anger suddenly draining out of me. I walked over to the bed, practically collapsing onto the mattress beside him.

I stared up at the canopy, my mind flashing back to the cold cave, the gold shimmer of the venom, and the absolute chaos that had followed.

"It was a complete disaster," I muttered.

"Obviously. The whole palace is talking about how the King almost took your head off," Oliver said, turning his head to look at me, his eyes full of genuine curiosity. "But what actually happened? They're saying the General almost died."

I hesitated. I shouldn't tell him. It was a state secret, a blow to my pride, and highly classified. But Oliver was my best friend, the only person in this goddamn palace who didn't look at me with pity or disgust.

And honestly, if I didn't get this off my chest, my brain was going to short-circuit.

"He was poisoned," I said softly. "The rats injected him with a gold, shimmering venom. It induced an artificial rut."

Oliver's eyes widened, but he kept quiet, letting me speak.

I swallowed hard, my voice dropping to a whisper as I laid out the details. I told him how the comms were down, how the doctor said the venom would attack his brain if it wasn't expelled, and how there was no Omega in sight.

I didn't hold back the details. I told him about the overwhelming heat, the size of Evander's cock, the way my body had completely betrayed my Alpha instincts, and how the brute had knotted me until I passed out.

By the time I finished, the room was dead silent.

I turned my head to look at Oliver.

He was sitting bolt upright now, his mouth hanging open so wide I thought his jaw might drop right off his face. His eyes were the size of dinner plates, completely frozen in absolute shock.

For a second, I thought he was going to throw up or call me a freak.

A massive, brilliant grin slowly stretched across his face, and he let out a high-pitched, deafening squeal that probably rattled the window panes.

"Shut up!" I hissed, lunging forward to slap a hand over his mouth.

Oliver’s muffled giggles pressed against my palm. I glared at him until he tapped my wrist in surrender. I pulled my hand back, wiping the slight trace of drool on my trousers.

"Theodore Eamon!" Oliver whispered-shrieked, leaning in so close his curls brushed my forehead. "You took a knot? From the General? The big, scary, 'I-have-no-emotions' Evander Valerius?"

"It was a medical emergency!" I snapped, my cheeks burning with a heat that had nothing to do with the club's pheromones.

"I saved his life. The kingdom’s golden boy would be brain-dead if I hadn't stepped up."

"Oh, you stepped up alright," Oliver teased, his eyes sparkling with pure mischief. "And based on what you just told me, you didn't just step up—you got bent over. An Alpha prince getting knotted by an Alpha general. If your father found out, he’d have a stroke."

"He already wants to kill me," I muttered, rolling back onto my pillow and staring at the ceiling. The sting of my father's slaps from earlier still felt fresh. "And don't say it like that. I didn't enjoy it. My body just... reacted weirdly to the venom pheromones."

"Right, sure. That's why you were grinding against your pillow when you woke up," Oliver said, poking my ribs.

"Shut the fuck up, Ollie!"

Oliver laughed, but then his expression softened, his gaze turning analytical as he looked at me. "But seriously, Theo. You said you went to the Cupid Den to find an Omega to fix yourself?"

"Yeah," I sighed, my voice suddenly heavy. "And nothing happened. The Omega was perfect, vanilla scent, totally willing. But I was completely cold. My body wouldn't even register him."

Oliver went quiet, his playful demeanor vanishing. He sat cross-legged on the mattress, chewing on his bottom lip. "An Alpha's body doesn't just reject Omegas, Theo. Not unless... oh. Oh, no."

I sat up, my brow furrowing. "What?"

"Theo," Oliver said, his voice dropping to a cautious whisper. "Do you think... Do you think he imprinted on you? Or worse, did you imprint on him?”

“Of course not!” I snapped. “I'm an alpha, he couldn't have imprinted on me. It's not possible Oliver.”

Oliver nodded like of course, it was impossible. Alpha's only imprinted on omega's.

“So what are you going to do? You can just think it's going to go away when you can barely get hard for an Omega.”

I glared at him. “What? It's a sensible question.”

I sighed. “I don't know, I'm just going to hold on and see where it goes. It's probably just my hormones acting up from being on the vulnerable side. Within a few days everything should go back to normal.”

Oliver did not look convinced.

My comms unit clicked."General, get down to the military bay now," Penelope's voice came through, fast and sharp. "Don't ask questions. Just come."I left King Madina in the council chamber and headed straight down the stairs to the sub-level.Penelope sat at the primary console, her fingers tapping against her keyboard. She didn't look up when the security door slid open."Watch this," she said, hitting a key.The main display flickered, playing the broadcast again. Doctor Morton’s smooth voice filled the small room, but Penelope grabbed the trackpad, zooming past the doctor’s face and cutting out the medical equipment on the tray."Penelope, I've seen it," I said, my voice tight. "I don't need to watch him get hurt again.""Ignore the doctor," she snapped, pointing at the glass. "Ignore what he's saying, and stop looking at his stomach. Look at his left hand."I stepped up to the console, leaning over her shoulder to look at the frame.Theodore’s left wrist was belted to the armre

The comms unit on my belt buzzed three times, then every screen along the palace corridor flickered and went dark. A second later, a static white light filled the displays.Queen Eleanor froze, her hand gripping my forearm so hard her nails dug through my coat. The screens snapped to a clear video feed. There was no sender tag or location name—just a wide shot of a white room with a steel chair in the middle. My knees buckled as I saw him.Theodore was strapped down to it. Leather belts were pulled tight across his chest, thighs, and wrists. His shirt had been cut open down the front.I could feel my body suddenly freezing, every muscle locking as though my mind could not accept what I was seeing. A sharp gasp tore out of Queen Eleanor’s throat, her entire body trembling against my side, and for a second I couldn't tell if it was her trembling or if the shaking had started in me.In the video, two people in lab coats stepped up to the chair. One pressed a rubber pad against Theodore's

EVANDER'S POVI was studying sector boundaries on a digital pad in my private quarters when the doors banged open.King Madina entered, leaving his royal guard and two senior officers outside.I stood up immediately, knowing any more form of disrespect could make him feral. He walked straight to my desk."Have you completely lost your mind?" the King demanded. "How dare you go against protocol and threaten the Kingdom you're supposed to be protecting! and you think I won't tear that uniform off your back?""I did what was necessary.""You went rogue, Evander!" He slammed his hand against the table. "By every law in Avindel, I should have you thrown into a cell for treason!"I remained silent. The King took a breath. "I'm not arresting you. Not because I approve of what you did, but because you've never disregarded protocol like this before. You had a reason."He faced me. "Tell me what's actually happening. What's the situation with Theodore?" I had to force my face to remain blank a

CW : This chapter contains elements of torture or illegal experimentation of an Omega.THEODORE'S POV The white light above my head didn't flicker, burning straight through my closed eyelids."Sensory response is high," a woman's voice said from my right. "The sedative from the port has cleared his system.""Good," the lead doctor replied. "We need his baseline nervous system fully active. Prepare the primary probe."I opened my eyes. "Don't," I rasped. “Don't touch me."Neither of them answered. The woman stepped up to my left, pressing a rubber pad against the side of my neck to keep my head pinned flat."Hold your breath, Prince Theodore," the doctor said flatly. He drove the silver needle straight into the soft skin right below my collarbone.A sharp, searing spike of pain shot through my chest, making my back arch violently off the chair. The thermal sweep showed nothing. For three hours, Penelope circled the ship over the sector, pushing the sensors to their absolute limit. We scanned every alley, every roof, and every empty warehouse within ten miles.Nothing.We finally landed near the alley where I had lost his trail. I jumped out of the ship before the ramp even hit the ground, running straight to the spot behind the dumpster where his blood had smeared across the floor.Penelope knelt beside me, pressing a handheld scanner against the floor. The screen flickered, reading zero thermal activity, but a bright purple warning light began to flash on her interface."Spatial residue," she said, looking up at me. "This isn't cartel tech, Evan. Someone opened a high grade portal right here."I stared at the empty patch of dirt. A portal meant his signal was completely severed. He wasn't in the city. He wasn't even on the Planet anymore."Can you track it?" I asked, forcing myself not to panic. "No," Penelope said, her v
