THEODORE “I'm going to die,” Evander groaned as he rolled onto his side on the rough cave floor. I rolled my eyes, though fear gripped my chest. “Stop being dramatic. They're going to come for us anytime now.” He groaned again, his back arching as another wave of the artificial rut tore through him. His Alpha scent filled the cave, thick enough to make me scrunch my nose. “Save yourself, my prince,” he rasped. “We don't know if those bastards might come back.” I scoffed, if only he knew. We'd killed every last one of them before the final bastard managed to inject him with that rut-inducing venom. “Who'd believe me if I told them the great General of Avindel was a chicken?” His eyes snapped open. He glared at me, his handsome face twisted with pain. “You should have been injected.” I gasped, pressing a hand to my chest. “How dare you speak against the future king?” He looked away. “The banter isn't working, Theo.” His voice was quieter this time. “It's getting worse.” My sm

THEODORE I had no idea how long it had been since I'd passed out from being fucked repeatedly. Evander had made sure he got his fill. I looked over at his sleeping form and scowled. At least he was alive. My gaze went to his soft cock, and I scowled harder. Even soft, he was big. Who needed that much endowment? I tapped my comms. “Your Highness.” The communicator crackled against my wrist. I answered before the first signal had fully stabilized. “This is Theodore.” “Your Highness,” the officer replied immediately. “We've restored access through the planetary shield.” My heart skipped. “You did?” “Yes, sir. The barrier is down. Rescue teams are already en route to your location. Based on our latest scan, we should reach the cave within twenty minutes.” Relief washed over me so suddenly I had to brace myself against the wall. “Thank the stars...” “We'll have medical personnel with us. General Evander will receive treatment the moment we arrive.” “I understand.” The line dis

Evander's POV The palace corridors were already busy by the time I stepped outside my chambers. Servants hurried between wings with documents, trays, and linens, while the guards straightened the moment they saw me. "General." "General Evander." Each greeting came with a respectful bow. Word of my survival had traveled quickly. As I continued toward the throne wing, conversations quieted the instant I passed. "I heard the venom should have killed him." "So did I." "Then how is he walking already?" The whispers stopped abruptly when the two young knights realized I'd heard them. They stiffened and bowed. "Our apologies, General." I nodded and kept walking. Rumors spread through the palace faster than wildfire. By evening, there would be half a dozen different stories explaining how I'd survived. Unfortunately, I couldn't provide a better explanation myself. The last thing I remembered clearly was the venom burning through my veins while Theodore talked beside me. After tha

THEODORE I shoved my way out of the Cupid Den, the cold night air hitting my face like a slap. I ripped the tech mask off my neck, tearing a tiny layer of skin with it, but I didn't care. The sting was nothing compared to the absolute humiliation burning in my chest.I was a useless Alpha, I couldn't even get my fucking cock to stand.By the time the royal transport dropped me off at the palace, I was practically radiating anger. I stormed through the grand corridors, wanting nothing more than to lock myself in my room and sleep for a week."Your Highness!"A young servant scurried up to me, bowing so low his forehead almost touched his knees."What?" I snarled, not even slowing down."General Evander has been looking for you, sir. He requested to see you the moment you returned."My hands clenched into fists inside my jacket pockets. "Tell the General to go fuck himself," I snapped. The servant gasped, his face turning pale as he stumbled backward. I ignored him and kept walking, t

"Whatever you say, Theo," Oliver murmured, throwing his hands up in mock defeat. "But if your 'acting up' hormones start making you track the General's scent down the palace halls, don't say I didn't warn you.""That's not going to happen," I said, though my stomach gave a nervous twitch at his words.Oliver slid off the bed, stretching his arms over his head. "Well, I should probably get out of here before your father's guards actually do a sweep. Just... keep your balcony locked. And try not to think about big, scary generals.""Get out," I muttered, shoving a pillow in his direction. He laughed, dodging the pillow easily, and hurried toward the balcony. With a final, teasing wave, he slipped through the glass doors and disappeared into the night. The silence of my room rushed back in.I lay back down, staring up at the dark canopy of my bed. My mind immediately drifted back to the hallway outside—the way Evander had stood there in his perfect dress uniform, the look of genuine grat
